(Memorial Hall) The second place Hornets are 2.5 games behind first place Morgan State Feb. 17, 2010 and one game ahead of third place South Carolina State in the MEAC standings. SCOUTING COPPIN STATE (7-18; 2-10 MEAC) NEAL LEADS HORNET SCORERS Senior Marcus Neal continues to top the scoring ledger for the Hornets, The Eagles are led in scoring by Kareem Brown (jr. 6-2), averaging 14.0 points-per-game to rank sixth in the MEAC. The Lynchburg, Va., native is second on the Hornets in scoring 12.5 ppg) and tops in rebounding (5.9 pg). Sandidge has reached double figures in scoring in 19 of the Hornets’ 24 games, and has 10-or-more rebounds in two contests. He has led, or tied for the team scoring lead in nine games, and has been the top rebounder 11 times. HORNETS NINTH IN MEAC PRESEASON POLL Delaware State was picked to finish ninth in the 2009-10 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men’s basketball regular season race, ac- cording to a poll of league head coaches and sports information representatives. The Hornets collected 134 points in the poll, which is headed by defending MEAC regular season and tournament champ Morgan State. The Bears received 20 of 22 first place votes and 476 total points. South Carolina State (388 points) is second in the poll, while Norfolk State (310) is third. Delaware State was 10th in the MEAC with a 6-10 league record during the 2008-09 season. The MEAC also announced its 2009-10 men’s basketball preseason all-conference teams. Delaware State did not have a player recognized on the first or second team.

BAYLOR MAKES SPLASH IN DEBUT Sophomore guard Brandon Baylor made quite an impression in his first game with the Hornets against South Carolina State on Jan. 11. Baylor came off the bench to score 13 points on 4-of-6 shooting from the field, including 3-for-3 on three-pointers, in the Hornets’ 67-58 win over the Bulldogs.
