15.19 Ms Georgina Harland, Head Teacher at Bewcastle School, spoke to the Parish Council on the subject of falling pupil numbers at the School and her concerns as to how it would affect the upkeep of the Swimming Pool. She wondered if the Councillors had any ideas about how to keep the Pool open and attract new members. Suggestions included posting upcoming events on Bewcastle Crack Facebook page and including a link to the page on the School website and also publicising events in the Benefice Newsletter. Adjacent parishes could be asked if they would place posters advertising membership of the Swimming Pool on their notice boards as well as putting them on our notice boards. The Chairman suggested that the Community Association could be asked for help obtaining grants for the maintenance of the Pool. Ms Harland then thanked the Parish Council for their help and left the meeting.

15.12 The sub-Committee on the Bewcastle Fund had been in communication and produced publicity and an application form for grants. It would be necessary to know the area to which the grants would apply. The Prince’s donation had been placed with the Community Foundation. If grants were to be awarded through the Parish Council then it was agreed that a separate account would need to be set up. The sub-Committee would meet after Steve Pattinson had met with the Community Fund and would then report back to the Parish Council.

15.13 The road to the Knowe had been repaired. Pat Renwick wished to record her thanks and those of Duncan Telford to Highways. The road past Sorbies was being patched. The ford at Dodgsonstown PR would be repaired as soon as weather conditions allowed. Pat Renwick would speak to the owners of Greensyke regarding the overgrown CML willows in their dyke.
