    Mogwai – As The Love Continues (1:01:24, Digital, CD, Vinyl, Rock Action Records/[PIAS]/Rough Trade, 2021) Neun vollwertige Studioalben und diverse Live-Aufnahmen, Soundtracks und EPs haben uns Mogwai bisher in ihren 26 Jahren Bandgeschichte beschert und dabei den Sound des Post Rock- Genres so sehr geprägt wie kaum eine andere Band. „As The Love Continues“ ist nun das zehnte reguläre Album der Schotten und erscheint exakt ein Vierteljahrhundert nach deren Debütsingle ‚Turner’/’Lower‘ und nur wenige Monate nach dem Soundtrack für die Serie „ZeroZeroZero“. Und schon nach wenigen Takten ist „As The Love Continues“ eindeutig als Mogwai-Album identifizierbar. Sprich, auf dem neuen Album der Formation aus Glasgow ist (fast) alles beim Alten geblieben. Langweilig wird es dadurch allerdings nicht, denn auf „As The Love Continues“ spielen Stuart Braithwaite (Gitarre), Dominic Aitchison (E-Bass, Gitarre), Martin Bulloch (Schlagzeug) und Barry Burns (Keyboard, Flöte, Gitarre, Bass) noch immer Post Rock auf aller höchstem Niveau. „As The Love Continues“ beginnt in Form von ‚To The Bin My Friend, Tonight We Vacate Earth‘ mit sehr dezenten Tönen, sanftem Schlagzeugspiel und sparsamen Melodien. Ganz in Bandtradition legen die Schotten im Laufe dieses Stücks Soundschicht um Soundschicht übereinander, bevor der Einsatz verzerrter Gitarren und die so Mogwai-typische Laut-Leise- Dynamik das Stück in einer voluminösen, aber dennoch organischen Wall of Sound zu Ende gehen lassen. Das anschließende ‚Here We, Here We, Here We Go Forever‘ wird durch piepende Synthesizer-Sounds eingeleitet, welche stilistisch an die schottischen Landsleute vonBoards of Canada denken lassen. Die Melodieführung des Stückes ist so eingängig wie zuletzt vielleicht auf dem 2001er Album „Rock Action“, klingt jedoch so, als würden die Instrumente von einem Roboter gespielt werden.

    FFS (UK / USA) «FFS» (Domino Records, Release: 05.06.2015) Collaborations, as FFS would have us believe on their debut album, don’t work. You start off deferential, and strangely reverential – and eventually, you’ll need the Dalai Lama to mediate, between all the patronising, agonising, navel-gazing and differences in work ethic. So when Los Angeles duo Sparks and Glasgow-based quartet Franz Ferdinand decided to record together, it was a flawed and potentially disastrous idea, right? FFS, you couldn’t be more wrong! Not only is ‘Collaborations Don’t Work’ one of the star attractions of the self- titled record that sprang from their collective loins but ‘FFS’ is also one of the strongest albums of either bands’ career. The love of artful corkscrew pop that created a mutual appreciation society kicks off with the lead single ‘Johnny Delusional’ and its soon-come successor ‘Call Girl’, though the hooks driving ‘Police Encounters’, ‘So Desu Ne’ and ‘Piss Off’ are no less fabulous and merciless. This dynamic thrill is countered by the subtler charms of ‘Dictator’s Son’ and ‘Little Guy From The Suburbs’, the haughtier ‘The Power Couple’ and ‘Collaborations Don’t Work’ itself, a multi-tiered quasi-musical that shows off the compositional ambition and savvy humour that defines ‘FFS’. “The real motivation was to make something new, not ‘Franz featuring Russell Mael’, or ‘Sparks with Franz Ferdinand backing them’,” declares FF frontman Alex Kapranos, whose intertwining lead vocals with Russell is another of the record’s principal thrills, like a male version of the Abba approach.

Si la primera edició va tancar amb una assistència de 8.000 persones, la del 2002 va arribar a 18.000 i la de 2003 va reunir entre els seus espais a més de 24.000 persones, l’assistència de 40.000 persones a l’any 2004 va significar un punt i apart i el festival va abandonar el Poble Espanyol.

    one desire too many Abstract: I defend the widely-held view that morally worthy action need not be motivated by a desire to promote rightness as such. Some have recently come to reject this view, arguing that desires for rightness as such are necessary for avoiding a certain kind of luck thought incompatible with morally worthy action. I show that those who defend desires for rightness as such on the basis of this argument misunderstand the relationship between moral worth and the kind of luck that their argument employs. Consequently, the argument provides no reason to doubt the popular view that a desire for rightness as such is no part of virtue. Introduction It is commonly alleged that desiring an act’s moral rightness as such is defective in an important way. Acting on such desires is allegedly inconsistent with moral worth, the positive moral state a morally right act enjoys when its rightness is creditable to its agent. These desires are inconsistent with moral worth because they are thought to alienate the agent from moral ends that merit non-instrumental concern such as justice, equality, and welfare.1 For example, when donating to Oxfam is right because it alleviates famine, one ought not to donate simply out of a desire to promote the donation’s rightness as such.
