Page 2 EDITORIAL The Carroll News, December 11 , 1986 Far from perfect Did anyone ask you if you wanted a tuition raise? Is ~ anybod\' explaining the c hanges the students want in the core w requirements to the facuJty? And what about Lhe FaU semester ~ break everyone's been talking about? A These are valid concerns of the John Carroll student that T are being neglected. The students themselves have no say in E the decision making process at Carroll because they do nol R pursue their right to speak. T The onlv reason this university exists is because of the ~ students. How con this majority be ignored so profoundly in I the university's decision making process? Only through its own s silence. y What students fail to realizo is thatthoy have an organiza tion to serve ns their voice. Th(l Student Union is the student government of John C~rroll University and represents the ~ students as a political body. ll must voice the students' opi R> nion in polic:y matters which affect them. {T7 The administration is not deaf to the students: it cannot 0 hear them. Unless the student body makes the administration aware of its wishes. it will never become involved in the deci sions that directly affect it. Contemplate these points over Christmas break and think about the things you'd like to change.
