Hull Central Type of City/Town Comment Ward Link Title Link URL respondent I would propose the following ward changes in Hull & Haltemprice - I would move St Andrews from Hull West & Haltemprice to Hull Central. I would move Bricknell Ward from Hull Central to Hull West & Haltemprice. Member of the London public I would move Southcoates East from Hull East to Hull Central. I would re-name "Hull West & Haltemprice" as "Hull Haltemprice" as it was from 1950 to 1955. I would rename East Yorkshire as Bridlington. East Yorkshire is stupid because it bears no relationship to the East Yorkshire Council area. Member of the I think the main worry about these changes is that they are being drawn up on outdated data and it's being said that around 2 million voters have been wiped off. Boothferry Hull public If it's done fairly I don't see the problem. Ward Dear Boundary Commission, I object to the proposal to change my constituency, and suggest Kingston upon Hull West and Hessle includes only Tranby and Willerby and Kirkella, making 73,420 electors. We do not want Cottingham, which is and Member of the Hessle should be part of Hull North cons;tuency.# public # I would like to see significant changes to the House of Lords, which is in real need of reform. It should not be used by outgoing prime ministers to reward their school friends, family and wife's 'stylist' with £300 a day jobs for mates. This is where the real cost savings can be made, and where democracy can be strengthened. I am a member of West Hull and Hessle Conserva;ve Associa;on and am the 3eputy Chair (Poli;cal), but am respondin in a personal capacity.# # I wish to strongly support the revised proposal put forward by the Conservative Party for the proposed Hull West and Haltemprice and Hull Central seats. I also wish to support the commission's proposals for the Hull East seat which I believe meet the objective of increasing the size of the constituency while minimising disruption to surrounding seats that do not need to change and also respecting existing boundaries (Hull CC and East Ridin CC boundary).# Member of the # Hull public The revised proposal (to move Bricknell and Newington Wards into West Hull and Haltemprice and St Andrew's and Pickering Wards into Hull Central) meets the requirement of both constituencies being the correct size while better keeping existing communities together. Having Myton, St Andrews, Pickering and Drypool wards in one seat keeps the dock area together rather than arbitrarily splitting it up. The grouping of Derringham, Bricknell, Boothferry and Newington wards also makes more sense than splitting them as there are clearly shared interests (and borders) with the surrounding Cottingham and Willerby and Kirk Ella wards.# # This counter-proposal also represents minimal disruption to the wider proposal for the region by only changing the grouping of wards within the two seats. On behalf of a Parish or Town HESSLE The Parish Council would like to submit the following: Suggest Haltemprice and West Hull as Haltemprice has by far the greater population. Hessle Ward Council (elow are my proposals for the (oundary Commission Review.# # After looking at the initial proposals, I feel that Cottingham North and Cottingham South would be best represented by being included into Kingston upon Hull North constituency and Myton Ward should stay in Hull West and Haltemprice.# # CoFn ham North and South# # There are strong community links between Cottingham and Hull University (Cottingham Road), with thousands of students living in the town. Being represented by one MP ensures that links with the community would become stronger with an interconnection formed that has previously been missing. Transport links between Cottingham and Hull are good and the principle of only having one Hull seat with a cross-over into the East Ridin is an unnecessary restric;on in a city with such ; htly drawn boundaries. The inclusion of Hessle in a Hull seat has been a success, as would placin CoFn ham in Hull North.# # Member of LONDON Myton Ward-River Hull (oundary# Parliament # I strongly feel that Myton Ward should remain in Kingston upon Hull West and Haltemprice. I believe this would reflect the long standing and deeply felt east v west community split in Hull. There is a strong sense of identity based on which side of the river you live, with the two rugby league teams based in east Hull and west Hull reflecting this natural community split. The river is a strong natural boundary between west and east Hull and itâHIs vital that this boundary is maintained. (oth communi;es east and west of the river have stron feelin s of ownership.# # Keeping Myton Ward in Hull West would also respect the west Hull community centred on the Hessle Road. Hessle Road maintains Hull’s fishing heritage with a community spirit that is at the very heart of the Hull West cons;tuency. This would support the ar ument put forward by local Conserva;ves of the West Hull wards stayin to ether whilst makin sure that east/west communi;es are maintained.# # Alan Johnson MP# # Hull has previously been represented by 8 MPs, with cons;tuencies closely matchin the local authority boundaries - a small part of the East Ridin in Hull West notwithstandin .# # The new boundaries e2ec;vely reduce the city0s MPs to 1 with a small por;on of West Hull tacked onto an East Ridin cons;tuency in which their voice won0t be heard.# # Hull and East Yorkshire could hardly be more different to each other, socioeconomically. Hull is so much more disadvantaged - for example ERYC gets >90% of its revenue from council tax, HCC it's around half. And Member of the Hull Hull is utterly despised by the surrounding East Yorkshire communities, especially west of the city. They don't even like having Hull in their postal address. Look at the results of the recent referendum when it was Pickering Ward public proposed that Hull0s boundaries should eBpand.# # I'm also concerned by the general suggestion to reorganise the constituencies in this way. I don't find it necessary to reduce the number of MPs by so many and basing it on registered voters rather than eligible voters seems perverse, never mind that thousands of young voters have been disenfranchised by recent changes and that so many people registered ahead of the referendum but after the date of the data on which these new boundaries are based. After looking at the initial proposals, I feel that Cottingham North and Cottingham South would be best represented by being included into Kingston upon Hull North constituency and Myton Ward should stay in Hull West and Haltemprice.# # CoFn ham North and South# # There are strong community links between Cottingham and Hull University (Cottingham Road), with thousands of students living in the town.
