1/05/2013 Stony Brook The Japan Center-Canon Essay Competition 12/21/2012 due Counseling Center This is a 5th Annual JCSB-Canon Essay Competition at Stony Brook University. This competition promotes awareness and understanding of Japan in the US. There will be 3 Best Essay Awards ($3,000-1st place, $1,500-2nd place and $750-3rd place) and multiple special cash awards. 1/13/2013 The Gallery Collection 3rd Annual Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship Contest 9th-12th GRADE STUDENTS The contest is sponsored by Prudent Publishing Company in New Jersey. The winner of the contest will win a $10,000 cash scholarship and a $1,000 prize for their school. 1/15/2013 13th Annual Long Island University BRAIN BEE 2012  To be eligible for this competition you must:  Be a Long Island high school student who has read “Brain Facts”. Participation in the Brain Bee preparatory course is recommended.  The Brain Bee will be held at CW Post Campus on February 2 from 9:30am – 1:30pm  Register now at www.liu.edu/cwpost/brainbee  The winner from CW Post will go to the National Brain Bee in Baltimore, Maryland on March 2-4, 2013.  The champion receives $1,500 and an all expense-paid trip for two to New Orleans, LA to attend the 2013 International Brain Bee Competition.  Prizes will also be awarded to 2nd and 3rd place winners.  Registration deadline is 1/15/2013

NEW YORK INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY, Old Westbury, NY – President’s Scholarship $16,000 per year with an average of 90 or higher and scores of 1300 on the SAT1 or at least 29 on the ACT. Theodore K. Steele Memorial Scholarship - $15,000 per year with an average of 85 and score of 1110 on the SATI or at least 24 on the ACT. UNIVERSITY OF ROCHESTER, Rochester, NY – The university offers a variety of merit scholarships to acknowledge students who have achieved academic excellence and bring unique attributes to the institution. Simon Scholars is a new scholarship for students with an interest in business, entrepreneurship or related areas. THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS AT DALLAS, Dallas, TX – The Eugene McDermott Scholars Program selects 16 to 20 students each year from the nation’s top few percent of high school seniors on the basis of their academic, service and leadership achievements. These students are brought to the to UT to receive the award which is valued at $130,000 and includes tuition, book allowances, living stipends, cultural experiences and support for professional preparation and travel study expenses.
