FM SPOTLIGHT MAGAZINE STRATEGIC MARKETING IN FARG O-MO ORHEAD 2012 STRATEG Y A ND PR O DUC T OVERVIEW

502 1st Ave. N. First Floor | Fargo, ND 58102 | p: 701.866.3907 | www.fmspotlight.com THE STORY

M Spotlight Magazine was developed in March of 2010 by Fargo-Moorhead advocate Mike Dragosav- ich. “Drago” became a household figure in Fargo-Moorhead after his expletory career as an All-American football player for State University. Being from Chicago and surrounded by entertainment and Fleisure his roots helped him understand the entertainment and leisure opportunities in Fargo-Moorhead. “Ev- ery friend I talk to seemed to either have plans to leave this area or complain constantly about not having anything to do in Fargo”. Dragosavich took these comments personally and wanted to do something about the downtrod- den attitude. His vision was to educate the area with a resource that collects the entertainment and leisure op- portunities. His first publication came from “door-to-door” sales of a product that was not even available yet. After a year of hard work and trying to create value each month, his publication began to take on rapid popularity and integrity. Now, 20 months after the creation of FM Spotlight Magazine, the company has over 10 employees, a premier downtown office space, another publication and stable business partners.

“I am extremely excited to see how this publication and Fargo-Moorhead grow together each month. I am grateful to have the opportunity to make an impact on an amazing area with tough environmental challenges. !is publication, and vision has and always will be about the community of Fargo-Moorhead...My adopted home and what I build my life and business around.” -Mike Dragosavich

FM Spotlight Magazine is published monthly and free. 10 to 12,000 copies are printed and distributed at over 500 locations in Fargo-Moorhead. The magazine is sized smaller to help readers conveniently carry and store for later use. The magazine’s content features topics related to entertainment, events, dining, nightlife, music, people and overall com- munity happenings. Available online and mobile compatible, this publication provides the area with a trendy, unique and complete resource.

Unique FACTS WHY THE SIZE? The smaller size of the publication was made for branding and distribution. With the 5.5” x 5.5” dimensions we are able to place the magazines in unique areas like the seats of sporting events and inside bags at the 1 Fargo-. Also when you see the smaller magazine, you immediately recognize it as FM Spotlight. We don’t even need a logo.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCEs BETWEEN FM SPOTLIGHT AND FM STRIDE MAGAZINES? Both publications are the same size but completely different in content and distribution. FM Spotlight serves as an entertainment and leisure resource while FM Stride serves as a health, fitness and wellness resource. 2 The two compliment each other well and provide the area with diverse information and distribution. WHAT SEPARATES YOU FROM OTHER FM PUBLICATIONs? We are a full-time magazine company! We produce two publications per month whereas most other local publications are produced once every two months. We also feature our magazine online which no other 3 publication in this area can offer. Overall this magazine and the community are our top priorities.

WHAT READERS TO YOU REACH? We have a unique and one-of-a-kind demographic in young active readers who are not just young in age but young at heart. We also reach readers who are out and about spending money. When we distribute 4 at events like the Fargo Force, FM Redhawks and FM Derby Girls, every spectator has one thing in common: they are all spending money. THE LOWDOWN

TESTIMONIALS

D-S Beverages takes the approach of branding and creating a local following. Here they are keeping their product fresh in the reader’s mind while creating a one-ending conversation with our readers each month through their “Beer Expert” page.

“Before FM Spotlight magazine there wasn’t another proactive, enthusiastic publication in the Fargo- Moorhead area. Now there is! We’ve been advertising with FM Stride magazine from the beginning and our business has benefited from the growth and hard work of the publication. As a result, we have pulled more business from younger demographics. We can count on seeing new faces coming through our door because of FM Stride magazine.”

- Richard Olson, Royal Jewelers, Fargo

“You can’t always count on the previous owner of your business to build the brand you want. As a new owner looking to re-brand my business, I know that FM Spotlight and FM Stride magazines can get the job done. These publications cater to my customers and take an aggressive approach to distribution in the area.”

- Sunseekers, Fargo WHY US WE ARE AMBITIOUS

With a team of over 10, we strive to make an impact everyday. Our dedication to pro-active distribution, innovative publishing techniques, social networking and trendiness seperates us from our competitors. We study local marketing through print and believe in its ability to sustain results for clients.

WE CARE ABOUT THE COMMUNITY The entire company and its well-being has been based upon the mission to help the community of Fargo-Moorhead. We appreciate this area and truly believe it’s a hidden treasure. We are fighting to keep people here and educate them about all of the great opportunities. We think it all starts with liking where you live. With a publication that outlines the leisure and entertainment opportunities for the community, it creates the first step in helping people understand that they do not have to live in to enjoy a way of life. WE THINK PRACTICAL!!!!

How many times are you going to sit through those presentations from media companies where they overwhelm you with jargon and numbers that just don’t make sense? Sure if you have a degree in international marketing you might have a chance in relating to “arbitron ratings.” We think different and we think local. If 4,000 people are going to be at the Force Game this Friday, we are going to put 4,000 magazines on all of the seats. Now is that something you’re inter- ested in? WE GO THE EXTRA MILE

We like to say, “We are not just an ad and an invoice.” This means we don’t just sell you a page then the next time you hear from us is when we either are looking to get paid or want to sell you more. We take pride in over-producing and under-promising. If you need help with Facebook marketing or have an idea for an article angle we can write about, we will do it (free of charge). We believe that sustained success comes from going the extra mile and making an impact with each client. WE ARE POPULAR WITH ACTIVE PEOPLE!

Our reader base has one thing in common: they are active! When we put magazines at sporting events, bars, restau- rants, fitness centers, Subways and seminars, we know we are reaching active people looking to engage in our content. When we publish advertisements and content our readers ACT on it! OUR READERS ENGAGE! Think about this: readers of magazines don’t have only 30 seconds to read an ad, and they don’t have to drive past it. They have an unlimited amount of time to do what they want with our content. This is why we encourage our advertisers to get creative with content-driven ads or ads with engaging content like crossword puzzles. This will give our readers a chance to spend valuable time on your branded advertisement.
