RCAC MEMBER AIRPORT PROFILE: Prince Albert Municipal (Glass Field) Airport (CYPA), SK The Prince Albert (Glass Field) Airport (IATA: YPA, ICAO: CYPA) is located 1.9 km northeast of Prince Albert, . The airport was originally opened near Prince Albert on 22 July 1940 under the British Commonwealth Air Training Plan as No. 6 Elementary Flying Training School, with a Relief Landing Field located near Hagan. The school closed on 15 November 1944. From March 1941 to 11 November 1942, the station double as No. 6 Air Observer School. The airport was then operated by the until March 1996 when it was transferred to the City of Prince Albert. All that remains of the former No. 6 EFTS are one World War II era hangar (now Transwest) and one parachute packing building. A monument was erected to pay tribute to the 17 airmen and one civilian who died in training accidents at the school. The airport is now named for Floyd Glass who learned to fly in the 1930s and then served as a military flying training instructor during the Second World War. Postwar, he was the first general manager of the provincial Crown corporation Saskatchewan Government Airways. He resigned from this post, flew briefly with 's Queen Charlotte Airways then returned to Saskatchewan and in 1955 formed his own firm, Athabaska Airways which still exists under the name Transwest Air. Glass died in 2000. The ownership and operation of the Prince Albert (Glass Field) Airport was transferred from Transport Canada to the City of Prince Albert in April of 1995. Prince Albert Municipal Airport Master Plan - Active expansion of energy, resources and commodity markets has resulted in rapid economic growth in the Province of Saskatchewan. Significant numbers of passengers have been utilizing the Prince Albert Municipal Airport in recent years, primarily destined for mining operations and communities in Saskatchewan's north and near north. The Master Plan provides guidance for airport development. The Plan's objective is to ensure that adequate infrastructure and services are available to support current and future commercial air services and private aviation activities at the Airport and within the community.

February saw a significant fall in the number of air travelers related to the market.

2. March 2017 Public Services Operational Report – Municipality of Greenstone Report An administrative report outlining ongoing winter maintenance issues of the municipality’s airport lighting.

Airport Staffing Levels – Municipality of Greenstone Report The presentation centred around deployment of personnel: … Increasing flexibility and ensuring adequate coverage in Public Works and at the Airports by changing two seasonal positions to a year-round position, and changing one labourer position to an operator. This will allow flexibility for the employees to go back and forth between Public Works and the Airport as needed.

4. Report to Planning Committee – Municipality of Wawa Airport fuel sales are projected at $250,000 for 2017. Total fuel sales at the airport in 2016 was $202,000 on a budget of $250,000. We are seeing an increase in activity at the airport which should assist in fuel sales.

Service is expected to start in late 2017 with an initial fleet of 10 high-density -800s designed by the airline that first brought low-cost air travel to Canada in 1996.

NAV CANADA Reports March Traffic Figures – NAV CANADA News Release OTTAWA - NAV CANADA announced today its traffic figures for the month of March 2017 as measured in weighted charging units for en-route, terminal and oceanic air navigation services, in comparison to the last fiscal year.
