Community chest opens more for youth Providing first-aid, cooking and new tutoring programs will soon feature at the Singleton Youth Venue thanks to financial assistance from the Singleton Diggers Community Chest. The money will allow for an expansion of the current programs provided at the Youth Venue while assisting to keep participant costs to a minimum. The Back-to-Basics Cooking life skills program will also run to teach young people basic kitchen skills, meal planning and budgeting. The Youth Venue provides social and recreational activities for young people between 11 and 17 years of age, open from 9am to 6pm from Tuesday to Friday weekly. For more information about the Singleton Youth Venue programs and services, call the team on 6571 4687 or visit www.singleton. nsw.gov.au/youthvenue Safety concerns trigger the removal of barbeques Three gas barbecues have been removed from Singleton’s Townhead Park after a safety audit of the park’s assets found they were potentially unsafe. Recent safety inspections found the barbecues were aged, broken, unrepairable and posed a safety risk. Council says although the removal of the facilities is far from ideal, it will not compromise the safety of our park users. “We are currently working with consultants on the development of the Townhead Park Master Plan which will guide the future uses for the park and take into consideration the replacement of the barbecue facilities and playground equipment.“ For more information about the Townhead Park Master Plan, please contact Council on (02) 6578 7290.

She will replace Nick Etchells who is returning to Seven News Melbourne. Rebecca will be no stranger to Sunrise viewers. She has long been a member of the extended Sunrise family, with presenting and reporting stints on Sunrise and Weekend Sunrise. Rebecca said she was thrilled by the opportunity to join Kochie, Sam and the team. “I've always felt like the "aunty" that just pays a visit every now and then, so it’s great now to be a full-time family member. “I've been reporting news in Melbourne for almost 15 years now. Rebecca has been part of the Seven News Melbourne team as a reporter and presenter for more than 10 years. In 2003 she was awarded a Quill Award for the Best TV News Report for her coverage of local bushfires. She’ll remain part of the Seven News Melbourne team, filling in on the news desk for Peter Mitchell and Jennifer Keyte. She will also fill in at the Sunrise desk from time to time.     Nowra CBD Revitalisation Strategy Committee 28 July 2016 - Item 1 Attachment “A” Extract, Illawarra-Shoalhaven Regional Plan ACTION 1.3.1 Renew and revitalise Nowra Centre by coordinating State agency input into precinct planning and reviewing capacity for expanded health-related uses Nowra Centre is the business, retail and services hub of the Shoalhaven. It has retail and commercial offerings, civic and government services catering for the local community, and tourism functions. The Nowra Centre supports 9,200 jobs, concentrated in health care (2,600 jobs), retail (1,650) and public administration (1,100). Major employers include Shoalhaven City Council and the Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital. Planning for the growth of the health care sector in Nowra will help to diversify and strengthen the Centre. Shoalhaven City Council is already working to renew and revitalise the Centre to encourage new business opportunities through the: • CBD Urban Design Masterplan; • Nowra CBD height and floor space ratio planning controls; and • Nowra CBD Revitalisation Strategy. The priorities are to increase public transport use, better integrate walkways and cycleways, improve pedestrian connections across the highway, and better integrate recreational uses around the Shoalhaven River and the commercial activity in the Centre. As Nowra Centre grows it will be important to coordinate local and State infrastructure. The NSW Government will: • coordinate State agency input into precinct planning activities; and • identify Shoalhaven District Memorial Hospital’s capacity for growth, and consider opportunities to accommodate future expansion.
