College of Pictorial checklist, Agriculture, Navsari Agricultural University (NAU) campus Navsari, Gujarat, India. A Agrobiont spiders, total 48 species of agrobiont spiders were recorded belonging to 34 genera and 12 families Navsari , from different ecosystems i.e., paddy, sugarcane, maize, mango and banana. This was studied from September 2015 to July 2019. A total of 18 family, 52 genus and 80 species were recorded. Araneidae is the most dominant family among all followed by the silicide family. The main aim of this study is to bring to known the species which is generally observed by the humans in this area. Beside seasonal variation in species is higher in summer season as compared to winter. Also many species were observed each year in same season repeatedly during the study period, further maximum number of species is seen in vegetation type of habitat. Keywords: Spider, diversity, Tinsukia, seasonal, habitat 1. Introduction As one of the most widely recognized group of Arthropods, Spiders are widespread in distribution except for a few niches, such as Arctic and Antarctic. Almost every plant has its spider fauna, as do dead leaves, on the forest floor and on the trees. They may be found at varied locations, such as under bark, beneath stones, below the fallen logs, among foliage, [23] house dwellings, grass, leaves, underground, burrows etc. (Pai IK., 2018) . Their success is reflected by the fact that, on our planet, there are about 48,358 species recorded till now according to World Spider Catalog. -
Workshop at Tindharia Tea Estate Held
Workshop at Tindharia Tea Estate held Kurseong, 12 December, 2016: A workshop on ‘Pruning & Cold Weather Practices’ was organized at Tindharia Tea Garden by the Capacity Building Centre of Quality Control Laboratory, Tea Park, Siliguri on 12 December, 2016. Scientists from the Tea Industry, Planters and Tea Board officials participated in the workshop for exchange of technical knowhow on the topic. Ms. Sanjukta Mondal, Field Expert, Capacity Building Centre, QCL welcomed the gathering and Dr. A. Basu Majumder, Research Officer (Tea Board) addressed the planters highlighting the importance of proper pruning and other post pruning cold weather practices for better yield in the season. He also informed that Tea Board through QCL and DTR&DC will organize similar kind of workshops for Darjeeling tea industry in future. The participants were shown different types of pruning in situ inside the garden. Mr. Nitish Biswas, Manager Tindharia Tea garden demonstrated different types of pruning and other field activities in each section. Dr. I. D. Singh, Advisor (Tea Improvement), DTR&DC, Kurseong and Dr. B. K. Lashkar, Advisory Officer (Principal Scientist), TRA Darjeeling explained various queries of the Planters on different pruning methods. This field visit was followed by interactive session where some videos were shown on recent advancements in mechanization of field activities like pruning and plucking. Planters enquired about the advantages and disadvantages of mechanization in respect to quality of Darjeeling tea and requested for conducting some scientific study on this. Around 35 participants from 10-12 Tea gardens from Kurseong Valley participated in this workshop. The workshop concluded with vote of thanks on behalf of Tea Board India to all the participants.. -

Man enjoys the beauties of nature and lives on them. But he also becomes a victim of the fury of nature. Natural calamities like famines and floods take a heavy toll of human life and property. Man seems to have little chance in fighting against natural forces. The topography of the district of Darjeeling is such that among the four sub-divisions, three sub-divisions are located in the hills where disasters like landslides, landslip, road blockade are often occurred during monsoon. On the other side, in the Siliguri Sub-Division which lies in the plain there is possibility of flood due to soil erosion/ embankment and flash flood. As district of Darjeeling falls under Seismic Zone IV the probability of earthquake cannot be denied. Flood/ cyclone/ landslide often trouble men. Heavy rains results in rivers and banks overflowing causing damage on a large scale. Unrelenting rains cause human loss. In a hilly region like Darjeeling district poor people do not have well constructed houses especially in rural areas. Because of incessant rains houses collapse and kill people. Rivers and streams overflow inundating large areas. Roads and footpaths are sub merged under water. -

College, Barasat, Kolkata – 700124, India a,b,cE-mails: [email protected] , [email protected] , [email protected] ABSTRACT The present study is on the spider fauna of Nongkhylem Wildlife Sanctuary (NWS), Sohra (Cherrapunji) [included within East Khasi Hill District], Umsning (Ri Bhoi District) and their surrounding tea estates (Anderson Tea Estate, Byrnihat Tea Estate and Meg Tea Estate) of Meghalaya, India. A total of 55 species belonging to 36 genera and 13 families are sampled. Newly recorded taxa include four genera and 11 species of Araneidae, six genera of Araneidae, each represented by single species. The species recorded under Tylorida Simon and Tetragnatha Latreille of Tetragnathidae and Camaricus Thorell and Thomisus Walckenaer of Thomisidae are found to be new from the state. Also, three oxyopids and one miagrammopid are new. So far, Linyphiidae, Pisauridae, Sparassidae and Theridiidae were unknown from the state. Out of 55 species, 13 are endemic to India and thus exhibiting a high endemicity (23.6%). A family key of the State Fauna is provided along with relevant images of the newly recorded species. The paper aims to introduce this neglected Order- Araneae which is primarily unknown to Science particularly in Northeast India. A total of 40 species of spiders belonging to 36 genera and 11 families were recorded during the study from January - April, 2016. The species were identified using keys for Indian spiders from (Tikader, B. K. 1970). Methodology included active searching at all layers from ground level to tree canopy layer accessible easily for hand collecting and visual surveys. This is the documentation and to report the spider Nilgiris and their microhabitat preferences from The Nilgiris, Tamilnadu. Such surveys are vital for conservation of these creatures and building a biodiversity database of this mega diverse group from a fragmented forest ecosystem in the Nilgiris, India. -

This method is made out of three vital components, landslide susceptibility mapping utilizing remote- detecting procedures for susceptible determination of landslide spots downsized landslide simulation tests for approval of sensor network for landslide monitoring and in situ sensor network deployment for strengthened landslide observing. The investigation catchment site is the landslide situated in Darjeeling. Landslides have dependably been a standout among the most catastrophic natural phenomena. Nonstop observing and cautioning as early as possible about the beginning of such fiasco may lead to ignore loss of human lives. With this point we have built up an observing framework organized as WSN furnished with extremely sensitive sensors equipped for estimating real time direction and magnitude of the landslide relocation.
