Que dire, si ce n’est que la réussite rencontrée par le renouveau du Tour de Corse est à la hauteur des attentes populaires et que chaque nouvelle édition confirme le succès croissant de l’évènement ! En 2017, le Tour de Corse s’est attelé à un défi important en étant inscrit, pour la première fois depuis de nombreuses années, au premier semestre du calendrier FIA. Ce changement s’est effectué avec succès et a confirmé la renommée dont bénéficie l’épreuve sur la scène nationale et internationale. Forte de cette expérience, l’équipe organisatrice est désormais bien en place pour vous offrir une édition 2018 à la hauteur de votre passion. Quatrième manche de la saison, le Tour de Corse ouvrira le bal sur asphalte avec un parcours fortement remanié par rapport aux années précédentes. Grâce au travail effectué en étroite collaboration avec les collectivités territoriales et nos partenaires privés, le rallye s’aventurera dans des contrées délaissées depuis plusieurs dizaines d’années, tout en continuant à visiter quelques-uns des lieux incontournables qui ont forgé la légende de l’épreuve. Je souhaite à l’ensemble des concurrents de pouvoir profiter des merveilles de l’Île de Beauté. Je pense bien sûr aux professionnels, au premier rang desquels figure notre quintuple Champion du Monde des Rallyes, mais aussi et surtout aux pilotes amateurs. Après 4 jours consacrés aux vérifications administratives et techniques puis aux reconnaissances, le rallye débutera jeudi matin par le Shakedown, séance d’essais dans les conditions de course et ultimes réglages pour les équipages et les mécaniciens. Véritable cœur du rallye, le Parc d’Assistance retrouvera ses marques dans un espace aménagé sur mesure à l’aéroport international de Bastia-Poretta. Accessible gratuitement à tous (entrée et parking gratuits) pendant trois jours, du jeudi au samedi, il permettra aux visiteurs de s’immerger dans le monde du WRC, d’approcher toutes les voitures et leurs équipages et de découvrir les nombreuses animations proposées : concerts, fête foraine, diffusion du rallye sur écran géant, village exposants, restauration, … JEUDI 5 AVRIL : SHAKEDOWN Sorbo Ocagnano (5,45 km) A quelques kilomètres au sud du Parc d’Assistance, les concurrents partiront du village de Querciolo sur une route très technique assez large et sinueuse, présentant de très belles zones Public. À partir de Sorbo Ocagnano, le changement de revêtement et l’étroitesse de la voie rendront la deuxième partie du shakedown plus délicate ; les voitures s’engageront alors dans une descente étroite en sous-bois - très souvent humide - pour rallier l’arrivée à Castellare di Casinca. Pour la première fois depuis 1978, la ville de Bastia accueillera en fin d’après-midi la cérémonie de départ du Tour de Corse WRC. Dédicaces des principaux équipages, photo des pilotes, présentation de toutes les voitures sur le podium, village exposants, animations… Une belle occasion de venir voir le rallye de près avant le départ, les voitures resteront en Parc Fermé à Bastia pour la nuit. VENDREDI 6 AVRIL : ETAPE 1 Départ de Bastia pour la Castagniccia et le départ de la première spéciale, l’une des deux seules conservées du parcours 2017. ES 1-3 La Porta – Valle di Rostino (49,03 km) Elle débutera par une montée très technique en direction de La Porta et de son église légendaire du Tour de Corse et emblématique de la Castagniccia, pour déboucher sur une route très étroite, sinueuse et parfois déformée qui traversera le village de Giocatojo avant de franchir le magnifique Col Saint Antoine. A suivre, presque 600m de descente alternant ancien et nouveau revêtement, portions rapides et tortueuses, qui conduira les équipages vers Ortiporio et Penta-Acquatella, en direction de Barchetta et sa spectaculaire épingle. C’est avec un changement radical de surface et une montée plus large, typée course de côte, que les concurrents rejoindront Campile. Une route beaucoup plus sinueuse à flanc de montagne les mènera à Bisinchi puis à Castello di Rostino à plus de 700m d’altitude, avant une dernière section avec une succession d’épingles en descente vers l’arrivée, non loin de Valle di Rostino. 6 www.tourdecorse.com @TourDeCorseWRC facebook.com/Tour de Corse WRC www.ffsa.tv #TourdeCorse #legendrally RALLYE GUIDE 1 RALLYE GUIDE 1 Ensuite, direction le nord du Cortenais pour la deuxième épreuve qui sera la première nouveauté 2018 : une spéciale inédite en WRC depuis 1999. ES 2-4 Piedigriggio – Pont de Castirla (13,55 km) Départ rapide aux pieds du village de Piedigriggio, vite suivi d’une montée très sinueuse présentant deux belles épingles avant la traversée de Popolasca dont les célèbres aiguilles culminent à plus de 2000m. Poursuite au même rythme jusqu’au col de Croce d’Arbitro et descente étroite et technique jusqu’à l’arrivée peu avant le pont de Castirla. Les équipages rejoindront Bastia-Poretta pour une assistance avant de repasser une seconde fois dans chacune des deux spéciales du jour. A l’issue de l’ES 4, les concurrents rejoindront le centre-ville de Bastia pour une rencontre avec le public et une session d’autographes, avant de se diriger vers le Parc d’Assistance de Bastia-Poretta suivi de la mise en Parc Fermé pour la nuit. SAMEDI 7 AVRIL : ETAPE 2 Deuxième jour de course et départ très matinal pour la deuxiéme nouveauté 2018 : cap au nord pour le grand retour du WRC dans le Cap Corse, très attendu depuis 1995.

Varied, complex conditions ensured that the famous Rallye Monte-Carlo lived up every bit to its reputation. The season’s difficult opener proved a tense affair from start to finish as the latest-generation World Rally Cars made their first public appearance. More spectacular and more powerful, the new machines thrilled the huge crowds that lined the event’s 17 challenging stages which provided a total competitive distance of more than 380km. As ever, the conditions were rarely consistent from one loop to the next and were even highly varied on individual tests. “We had to cover the whole spectrum of typical Monte Carlo conditions,” said Jacques Morelli, the manager of Michelin’s World Rally Championship programme. “It was cold throughout, and the crews also had to contend with fresh and melting snow, ice and frost, as well as dry and wet asphalt. This year’s Rallye Monte-Carlo lived up its promise and delivered all the ingredients expected of the rally, which in turn made tyre choices extremely difficult. The teams were naturally able to count on their previous experience of the rally, but Michelin’s technicians were once again invaluable allies in the decision-making process.” While only two types of tyre are available for all the other rounds of the WRC (asphalt and gravel), the unique characteristics of the Rallye Monte Carlo necessitate four different solutions to cover all the bases.

    2018 MEDIA GUIDE Rallye Deutschland August 16 - 19, 2018 ROUND 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 11 12 13 Rallye Deutschland August 16 - 19, 2018 HYUNDAI’S HELLO Welcome to Rallye Deutschland, Hyundai Motorsport’s home event, which takes place during a very exciting time for the WRC with both title battles finely balanced. Although last month’s Rally Finland didn’t produce the ultimate result for our team, Hayden finished just outside the podium places after a strong drive. Thierry and Nicolas continue to lead the Drivers’ championship with an advantage of 21 points, while the Hyundai Shell Mobis World Rally Team heads the Manufacturers’ championship by 26 points so there’s plenty of reason to be positive. I must also congratulate our HMDP crew of Jari and Antti for recording their first WRC2 podium of the year with second in that class. Rallye Deutschland is the first tarmac event on the calendar since Tour de Corse in April. Since then we’ve worked on improving the suspension, especially the dampers, and centre differential mapping with two aims in mind: to achieve more grip for the Hyundai i20 Coupe WRC and find a better balance. This follows feedback from our drivers during Corsica where they reported being hampered by understeer. Our three drivers for Germany – Thierry, Dani and Andreas – have all sampled the changes during development testing and they also got the opportunity to finalise their set-ups during the recent pre-event test, which took place over five days so we could experience the vineyard roads and those within the Baumholder military range, which are very specific to this rally.

    MEDIA INFORMATION 2017 FIA World Rally Championship (WRC) Round 4: Che Guevara Energy Drink Tour de Corse-Rallye de France A conclusive Corsica test for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport H5 (WRC), and a successful debut outing for the MICHELIN Pilot Sport R H3 (WRC2) Following the strategy that Michelin Motorsport revealed in Mexico with regard to its gravel WRC tyres, MICHELIN decided to use the 2017 Tour de Corse-Rallye de France as a test for the asphalt tyres that are used this season by the latest-generation World Rally Cars which combine extra power with impressive aerodynamic configurations and an active centre differential that evens out front and rear tyre-wear more uniformly. Corsica has long been known as a demanding test not only for the drivers, but also for their cars and tyres, and Michelin had three solutions for the event, namely the soft- (S5) and hard-compound (H5) versions of the MICHELIN Pilot Sport, plus the 2017-specification of its ‘Full Wet’ rain tyre, the MICHELIN Pilot Sport FW3. In the end, the weekend’s weather turned out to be clear and dry throughout and Michelin’s partners consequently opted for the ‘hard’ MICHELIN Pilot Sport H5 from start to finish. Its WRC2 runners, meanwhile, benefited from a new hard-compound tyre, the MICHELIN Pilot Sport R H3, which Michelin registered with the FIA (Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile) in January and which features a new tread compound. It builds on the successful career of its predecessor – the MICHELIN Pilot Sport R H2 – but gets up to its ideal working temperature more quickly and delivers enhanced lateral grip.

    FACTBOOK 2019 WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / PROGRADE PHOTO OF THE YEAR WRC FACTBOOK 2019 / INTRO WRC FACTBOOK 2019 The 2018 WRC season will be remembered as the most exciting and dramatic in a generation. It is 15 years since a drivers’ title fight of similar magnitude and a compelling season-long battle involving three drivers was finally resolved on the last morning of the season in Australia. It was a similar story in the manufacturers’ championship. All four teams won rallies and three made the long journey Down Under still with an opportunity to claim the crown. Following a similarly enthralling and unpredictable 2017 cam- paign, when new-era World Rally Cars headlined a raft of major changes to the championship, it is clear our sport is in the midst of an unforgettable period in its history. Away from the close competition, the WRC has grown in stature. The year opened with a major launch at Birmingham’s Autosport International show and finished with a glamorous end of season gala in Sydney and with the cars showcased once more in front of Milan’s iconic cathedral in the Piazza del Duomo. Our pioneering WRC+ All Live channel revolutionised the way in which fans could enjoy the sport as it happened. Every special stage from each round was streamed live, featuring stunning onboard and helicopter footage. Having fought so hard for both the Drivers’ and Manufacturers’ titles in 2018, the winter break not only provided an opportunity to recharge our batteries, it was also a great chance to assess how we could be stronger during the season ahead. We therefore begin 2019 rejuvenated and with a firm battle plan in place. Being appointed Team Director of Hyundai Motorsport is a completely new challenge for me and a step forward from what I’ve done so far, which gives me even more motivation to work together with the team to reach our goals. Our objectives for WRC remain the same as they have always been, namely to fight for the Manufacturers’ and Drivers’ titles. This is important for Hyundai and our N brand. The WRC is incredibly competitive and the other teams will want to approach the new season with the same winning mind-set. We have to make sure we’re delivering and performing at our best at all times. In my new role, it is a real privilege to welcome Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena to the Hyundai Motorsport family. Nine-time world champions, they will contest six rounds with our team, starting on Rallye Monte-Carlo, an event they have won a record seven times.

It meant a lot to me personally to win this event as, alongside Sanremo, Monte-Carlo was one of the rallies that first attracted me to the sport. So, to see Thierry and Nicolas on the top step of the podium for Hyundai was a special moment. The Hyundai Motorsport team has grown a lot in the past 12 months. I remember after finishing second in Monte-Carlo last year listing all the things that we needed to work on and the areas where we needed to improve. My people have done a great job filling in those gaps and showing what they are capable of. However, things do not always go according to plan and, of course, we hope that Ott and Martin will have a much better event here in Sweden following their accident in Monte-Carlo. Having celebrated our victory in round one, we move on to the challenge of Rally Sweden, which provides another wintry test. We appreciate the concerted efforts of the organisers and the FIA to make Rally Sweden happen. The conditions are uncharacteristically warm for this time of the year and we acknowledge the challenges that have been faced in preparing for the rally, with safety at the forefront of the decision-making process.
