n We run integrated Racket Sports, Education (STEM / Maths) and Nutrition Programmes for local school children, in partnership with Inner City schools and “Aspirational” hosts Ø The Children play an hour of rackets sports, an hour of maths, then are fed a meal Ø Currently all hosting sites provide the use of infrastructure for free Background n Secured Funding from Sports and National Lottery to help scale the concept Ø Strong relationships with Governing Bodies (England , LTA) and PSA World Tour n Belief we have to be local (for sustainability) and start young (for social impact and lifetime habits) n We pay local coaches and teachers market wages to deliver the content (invest in local community)

n Held at “Aspirational Sports Settings” using existing infrastructure n Roehampton Club; Squash & with Maths 3 times a week with Sacred Heart Roehampton 5 Existing n REEDs School; Squash & Maths in Winter, Tennis in Summer Programs n National Tennis Centre; 2 times a week Tennis & Maths, with Alton School and Metro Tennis n Roehampton University; Maths & Tennis with Heathmere School n Pontefract Club; Running Squash and

n Sport; increasing evidence that active children have higher school achievement. 3 Elements Ø Life Sports, boy and girl role models, existing infrastructure, indoor and outdoor Sports n Education; STEM / Maths focus, but want to help on the broader academic attainment e.g. aspirations, Ø Evaluating the addition of Coding and Finance to the programs Education n Nutrition; increasing evidence that nutrition improve classroom behaviour, and sporting achievement Nutrition Ø Facilitate healthy balanced diet, that improves concentration and provides energy for exercise

Roehampton University launch Tennis Programme

The University will host the Heathmere School, Alton

Coaching provided by Metro Tennis

This represents the fourth Rackets Cubed programme, along with the Squash and Tennis held at the Roehampton Club, Reeds School and the National Tennis Centre

This is an important development as Roehampton is the first University to test the model, and should allow for a long term strategic partnership evaluating Social Impact and Mobility through integrated Sports and Education programs Racket Sports in Aspirational Settings

Vision for London Squash Event Tennis Event in September n We want to build this into the largest and most visible Fundraising Annual Charity Tennis Fundraiser event in the UK Squash Calendar Tournament and Dinner Ø Build with the PSA and England Squash Saturday September 22nd 2018

n We invited 70 – 75 of the children and their family to come to the Save the Date Tennis, (STEM) Education & Nutrition Programs Saturday Sept 22nd 2018 Support Social Impact & Mobility club and play; allow parents to see the programme Roehampton Club Promote Tennis to Inner City Kids Play from 3 pm onwards Boost Self Confidence Dinner and Auction from 7.30 pm Improve Physical and Mental Health n 10 Team Tournament with teams from London Bath Cup Ø Queens, Roehampton, RAC, Lansdowne, Jesters etc n Run in conjunction with the PSA and PSAF to allow for support of pro players and the Squash Community

n Rackets Cubed is dedicated to giving disadvantaged children the opportunity to fulfil their potential Ø Host integrated programmes in “Aspirational Sports” settings to maximise impact n The program focuses on improving maths and classroom achievement, learning new sporting skills Improving health and fitness, and achieving clear goals: Vision and Ø Raising academic achievement (and aspiration) Objective Ø Providing education on nutrition, food choices and exercise Ø Providing weekly structure to ( often chaotic ) young lives Ø Helping to develop a new sporting skill / talent Ø Providing the same life opportunities as children from more affluent families

n We plan to achieve our mission through 4 primary ways Ø Build long term relationships with local inner city schools in areas of high disadvantage. Ø Work with Aspirational Hosts to best leverage existing infrastructure, at times when it is less used. Mission Ø Provide, and develop, integrated sports, education and nutrition programmes that track the children as they progress through school age groups. Ø Develop best practice, and easily transferable programmes, that other clubs and organisations can utilise

n We are building a multi-site approach to test the impact in the Alton Estate / Wandsworth area n Work closely and develop model in key hosting venues eg Schools, National Centres, Universities Ø REEDS school evolved the model in some interesting ways Operating n Develop model with the key sporting bodies to coordinate delivery and applications for Funding Model Ø Squash; England Squash, Surrey Squash, PSA Ø Tennis; LTA / Tennis Foundation, Tim Henman, AELTC n Look for Strategic partners in other areas who can lead Ø Provide the model, that would be tailored to local needs and facilities

The Participants Use Existing Best Practice Progress Awards

Sacred Heart Children; 28 Year 4 children started in Jan 2017. All had never played squash before and went on to complete Levels 1 & 2 in first school year.

Now in Year 5 18 children are coming to end of second year in July 2018. They have all achieve Level 3 and 4. % of Children
