Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) 2040 4.1 Roads and Highways Element The largest part of the transportation system is a roadway network of more than 7,000 lane miles and is comprised of NCDOT maintained roads, locally maintained roads, and private roads. In late 2013 the metropolitan area boundary for the High Point MPO increased in size to include the remaining portion of Davidson County not already included in an MPO. This substantially expanded the roadway network for the MPO. Radial movements that are strongest in the MPO are: • Towards Greensboro and Jamestown to the northeast, • Towards Winston-Salem from High Point to the northwest via Interstate 74, • Towards the Piedmont Triad International Airport to the north via NC 68, • Towards Lexington from High Point to the southwest via Interstate 85 and US 29/70, and • Towards Winston-Salem from Lexington via US 52. • There is some radial demand between High Point, Thomasville, Archdale, Trinity, and Wallburg. Heavily traveled routes include: • Eastchester Drive (NC 68), towards Piedmont Triad International Airport • Westchester Drive and National Highway (NC 68), towards Thomasville • NC 109 • Main Street in High Point, • Main Street in Archdale, • US 311 Bypass, • Interstate 85, • US 29-70, • Wendover Avenue, • Main Street and NC 8 in and around Lexington, • High Point - Greensboro Road, and 4.1 Roads and Highways Element • Surrett Drive. Chapter: 1 Metropolitan Transportation Plan (MTP) 2040 The projects in the Roadway Element of the Transportation Plan come from the Comprehensive Transportation Plan (CTP) for the High Point Urbanized Area. The differences between the Roadway Element of the MTP and the CTP include: • The MTP is required by Federal Law, CTP is mandated by the North Carolina Department of Transportation. -

Significance: Druid Hills is historically significant primarily in the areas of landscape architecture~ architecture, and conununity planning. Druid Hills is the finest examp1e of late-nineteenth and early-twentieth-century comprehensive suburban planning and development in the Atlanta metropo 1 i tan area, and one of the finest turn-of-the-century suburbs in the southeastern United States. Druid Hills is more specifically noted because: Cl} it is a major work by the eminent landscape architect Frederick Law Olmsted and Ms successors, the Olmsted Brothers, and the only such work in Atlanta; (2) it is a good example of Frederick Law Olmsted 1 s principles and practices regarding suburban development; (3) its overall planning, as conceived by Frederick Law Olmsted and more fully developed by the Olmsted Brothers, is of exceptionally high quality when measured against the prevailing standards for turn-of-the-century suburbs; (4) its landscaping, also designed originally by Frederick Law Olmsted and developed more fully by the Olmsted Brothers, is, like its planning, of exceptionally high quality; (5) its actual development, as carried out oripinally by Joel Hurt's Kirkwood Land Company and later by Asa G. -

Blueprint Midtown 3. ACTION PLAN Introduction This document identifies Midtown’s goals, implementation strategies and specific action items that will ensure a rich diversity of land uses, vibrant street-level activity, quality building design, multimodal transportation accessibility and mobility, and engaging public spaces. Blueprint Midtown 3.0 is the most recent evolution of Midtown Alliance’s community driven plan that builds on Midtown’s fundamental strengths and makes strategic improvements to move the District from great to exceptional. It identifies both high priority projects that will be advanced in the next 10 years, as well as longer-term projects and initiatives that may take decades to achieve but require exploration now. Since 1997, policies laid out in Blueprint Midtown have guided public and private investment to create a clean, safe, and vibrant urban environment. The original plan established a community vision for Midtown that largely remains the same: a livable, walkable district in the heart of Atlanta; a place where people, business and culture converge to create a live-work-play community with a distinctive personality and a premium quality of life. Blueprint Midtown 3.0 builds on recent successes, incorporates previously completed studies and corridor plans, draws inspiration from other places and refines site-specific recommendations to reflect the changes that have occurred in the community since the original unveiling of Blueprint Midtown. Extensive community input conducted in 2016 involving more than 6,000 Midtown employers, property owners, residents, workers, visitors, public-sector partners, and subject-matter experts validates the Blueprint Midtown vision for an authentic urban experience. piedmont area transportation study final report Several portions of the corridor, such as near the northern and southern activity centers, do have more consistent and attractive streetscape environments. However, other portions existing of the corridor have not received improvements during recent years. This creates a disconnected corridor and provides unattractive and difficult conditions for individuals wishing to walk between the areas with nicer aesthetics and well-kept conditions streetscapes. This discontinuity between areas is even more noticeable to motorists who drive along the corridor. Zoning Structure Portions of the corridor lie within Special Public Interest (SPI) districts which provide an additional layer of zoning. These areas are located on the east side of Piedmont Road north of Peachtree Road as well as on both sides of Above: Recently completed Phase I Peachtree Road Piedmont Road in the Lindbergh Center Complete Streets streetsape area. These overlay districts allow for Right: Lindbergh Center as common goals pertaining to aesthetics, a model of good streetscape attractiveness to all user groups, and unity of appearance in these locations as development occurs. Several areas that are prime for redevelopment are currently not within overlay districts (along the west side of Piedmont Road south and north of Peachtree Road), making them vulnerable to development that does not support the common goals of the corridor. “ … We have worked with the City of Atlanta very closely throughout this process so that our recom- mendations can be put directly into the plan they create for the entire city. Holmes, AICP, Zoning Administrator KMH SUBJECT: Z-19-125 for I-MIX Text Amendment DATE: August 13, 2020 An Ordinance to amend the 1982 Atlanta Zoning Ordinance, as amended, by amending Chapter 16A Section 16A-16.004(1)(A) Industrial Uses Required so as to reduce the mandatory percentage of industrial floor area per development; and for other purposes FINDINGS OF FACT: The I-MIX (Industrial Mix Use) zoning district was created via legislation 18-O-1707/Z-18-83 to allow a new industrial mixed-use district that permits a mix of industrial and non-industrial uses in areas previously and currently used for industrial. The district is designed to retain property in the City of Atlanta that has a current or former industrial use. The adoption of the district is consistent with the goals set forth in the 2016 Comprehensive Development Plan. Since adoption, however, it has been found that the 30% floor area industrial requirement prevents the district from being used. Given the current floor plate of industrial uses and the permitted principal uses that are allowed by the district the zoning classification is not being utilized. It is essential to sustain industrial areas because they play a significant role in the City’s economy and supports the need of an urban environment. -
