April 2018 // Ferienpark Weissenhäuser Strand // Ostsee PLAGE NOIRE returns to the Baltic Sea The new edition of the indoor gothic festival at the Weissenhäuser Strand starts in April "Only once a year the beach is black ..." is the mysterious announcement on the website of the new festival format PLAGE NOIRE that will take place on the 27th and 28th of April 2018 at the Ferienpark Weissenhäuser Strand. It will definitely attract the black scene to the Baltic Sea. In 2009, the festival had already taken place there; now it returns in an elaborately staged new edition. PLAGE NOIRE (en. “black beach") takes its visitors into a world of its own, which revolves around an ancient legend. A mysterious woman haunts the Weissenhäuser Beach since her beloved went missing after a caper ride. Once a year she is spotted there whenever the beach turns black. In addition to the unusual dramaturgical orientation, the PLAGE NOIRE is also special for other reasons: More than 25 concerts on three stages lead international stage giants to the Baltic Sea. The audience is accommodated in comfortable apartments or hotel rooms, and in addition to the music, festival guests can also enjoy and discover other facets of the black scene, e.g. fashion and styling. All events are tailored to the target group and take place indoors. The holiday park, which has been elaborately designed, will turn into a world of its own for a weekend; it will surely be remembered even after the festival. The first artists for PLAGE NOIRE 2018 have already confirmed their attendance! The gothic-novel rocker ASP , the alternative-electronic-act VNV Nation , the medieval rockers Subway To Sally and gothic giant Blutengel will cover the Baltic Sea for you in gloomy sound colors. The dark rock institutions Mono Inc. and Lord Of The Lost , the brachial electronic artists Suicide Commando and the post-industrial band Die Krupps could also be won for the new edition of the PLAGE NOIRE. The Ferienpark Weissenhäuser Strand has firmly established itself as a festival location in the last ten years, and has already hosted two very successful indoor festivals from FKP Scorpio: the ROLLING STONE Weekender and the METAL HAMMER Paradise. “Will microClocks become as good as Depeche Mode?“ The oh-so independent and impartial “Bild”, Germany’s most famous tabloid paper, entitled an article about microClocks with these words some time ago. Since then, the yellow press has been obsessing about this question more than the band itself. The comparison with the celebrities from Basildon falls short... but still ennobles the band from the Ruhr area (Germany)! Stylistically, microClocks is rooted in the rock and pop music of the 80s, but likes to snack from the tree of electronica and industrial. Hence, microClocks is far from being a plagiarism of well-known artists. Powerful guitars, complex arrangements, stomping rhythms and finest synthesizer sounds – with this mixture the last single ‚Is Anybody Out There?‘ jumped to number 8 of the ‚German Alternative Charts‘, followed by news coverage in nearly all relevant scene magazines and daily papers. Big and small festival and club shows have been performed – from the‚M’era Luna‘ festival in 2014 with headliners like Within Temptation and Marilyn Manson to a tour throughout Germany presented by ‚Sennheiser‘ and ‚intro‘ music magazine. Towards the end of 2016 microClocks released the album ‚Soon Before Sundown‘. For its realisation well-known producers, like José Alvarez-Brill (Unheilig, De/Vision) and Olaf Wollschläger (Mesh, And One), provide assistance. The content of the new songs focuses on all kinds of pressing social issues – loss of values, wrong ideals, waste of privacy. However, pensive and interpersonal tones are adopted as well – on the new album more than ever before. With this new complete package and the single ‚Life Is Grim’, for which famous support from the scene, like Lord Of The Lost and Klangstabil, came on board again the band celebrated its biggest success so far.
