Mit dieser Ausgabe gibt es ein kleines Jubiläum, nachtplan ist 80! Dass es einmal so weit kommen soll, hätte damals in 2002 bei den ersten Ideensammlungen sich niemand erträumt. Ein Traum, ja. Viele schöne Momente, doch manchmal geht es auch in Richtung Alb. Wenn ich beim Tippen dieser Zeilen aus dem Fenster schaue, hoffe ich doch sehr, dass Sonnenbrillen bald gebraucht werden, nicht Gummistiefel, damit es draussen auch mehr Spaß macht, als drinnen; von Unwettern, Hochwassern, Windstärken und Blitztoten ganz zu schweigen. Wieder zurück am Tanzbrunnen, wo zwar nicht alles begann, der aber bereits nach einem Ausflug in die Arena 2015 nun zum zehnten Mal der Austragungsort des Festivals ist. Durch die räumlichen Änderungen am Tanzbrunnen, findet ein Teil der Konzerte auch auf dem Schiff „Rhein Energie“ statt, bekannt vom Call the Ships to Port. Bei diesem Lineup fehlt nur noch gutes Wetter für ein wundervolles Wochenende am Rhein. Since then, the yellow press has been obsessing about this question more than the band itself. The comparison with the celebrities from Basildon falls short... but still ennobles the band from the Ruhr area (Germany)! Stylistically, microClocks is rooted in the rock and pop music of the 80s, but likes to snack from the tree of electronica and industrial. Hence, microClocks is far from being a plagiarism of well-known artists. Powerful guitars, complex arrangements, stomping rhythms and finest synthesizer sounds – with this mixture the last single ‚Is Anybody Out There?‘ jumped to number 8 of the ‚German Alternative Charts‘, followed by news coverage in nearly all relevant scene magazines and daily papers. Big and small festival and club shows have been performed – from the‚M’era Luna‘ festival in 2014 with headliners like Within Temptation and Marilyn Manson to a tour throughout Germany presented by ‚Sennheiser‘ and ‚intro‘ music magazine. Towards the end of 2016 microClocks released the album ‚Soon Before Sundown‘. For its realisation well-known producers, like José Alvarez-Brill (Unheilig, De/Vision) and Olaf Wollschläger (Mesh, And One), provide assistance. The content of the new songs focuses on all kinds of pressing social issues – loss of values, wrong ideals, waste of privacy. However, pensive and interpersonal tones are adopted as well – on the new album more than ever before. With this new complete package and the single ‚Life Is Grim’, for which famous support from the scene, like Lord Of The Lost and Klangstabil, came on board again the band celebrated its biggest success so far.
