The academy has trained self-sponsored pupil pilots from Europe, Middle East, South Asia and South East Asian countries on private, commercial, instruments and multi-engine license programs. AAA Flying Training Organization (FTO) was approved by the Maldives Civil Aviation Department (MCAD) in July 2010, re- fleeted and reset up at Gan International Airport, in the Republic of Maldives. Gan Airport was a former British RAF base. We are presently, the only ying school in the Maldives which is a major competitive advangtage. The majority of our students receive employment from the growing domestic aviation sector. Maldives has the largest fleet of sea-planes in the world,which is constantly growing and in need of pilots. - www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 03 MALDIVES The training programs conducted in Sri Lanka were adversely affected due to extensive security and airspace restrictions,resulting in course durations, being unduly delayed and thereby increasing the overall cost of the Courses. Hence, AAA moved its flight training programs to the Republic of Maldives in order to overcome these hindrances and provide a restriction free training environment to pupil pilots in order to complete their courses in the usual course duration. At AAA, the Private Pilot’s License (PPL) may be completed in 3 to 4 months, and the Commercial Pilots License including an Instrument Rating and Multi Engine Rating with a Frozen ATPL may be completed in 14 to 18 months. The tropical location of the Maldives, provides great weather all year round for ight training. Other than for the tropical monsoons - which occur for a couple weeks between September and October - we are blessed with blue skies for most of the year. www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 04 CREDENTIALS Our Head of Training (HT), an ATPL holder, an IRE, CRE, FIE, FEE, with 30 years of experience in "training and checking", was designated as an examiner to the Civil Aviation Authority of Sri Lanka (CAASL) in 1990 and still holds the post. In December 1992, AAA was awarded the contract to train cadet pilots sponsored by the National Carrier of Maldives, then known as Air Maldives. Such Cadets were enrolled on approved CPL/IR, MER courses conducted by AAA, meeting the licensing requirements of Civil Aviation Dept of Maldives. AAA was also contracted to train cadet pilots sponsored by Maldivian Air Taxi, (MAT) a private “oat plane” operator based out of Male’ International Airport (MLE), also one of the largest “oat plane“ opera- tors in the region. Having gained recognition in the region AAA was approved by the Indian Director General of Civil Aviation in October 1993 to impart flying training to Indian pupil pilots on ab-initio courses leading to private, commercial, instrument and multi-engine license standards which was acceptable for the issue/renewal and endorsement of licenses issued by the Indian DGCA. Furthermore our Head of Training was appointed as an Examiner by the Indian DGCA to conduct General Flight Tests (GFT) for Indian pupil pilots for the issue, renewal and endorsement of licenses issued by the Indian DGCA. www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 05 SCOPE OF TRAINING The academy continues to conduct training from ab-initio to commercial, instrument, multi-engine, ight instructor license/rating standards, in phases, in accordance with the MCAA Flight Crew Licensing (FCL) requirements, whilst also com- plies with the Joint Aviation Regulations-FLC (JAR-FCL) standards. The academy also oers ATPL Ground studies enabling those seeking Commercial Pilot Licenses to secure ATPL Frozen status with their CPL Licenses. Refer also Annex 2, page 14 below under subheading SCOPE OF TRAINING & APPROVALS The academy also caters to pupil pilots from the region and complies with the ight time requirements of their respective Civil Aviation Departments / Authorities. www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 0602 www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 07 AAA AIRCRAFT FLEET The AAA eet consists of 14 aircraft and includes : a) Cessna-150 SEP (VFR/IFR/Long range) - 11 aircraft. b) Cessna-172 RG/complex Intermediate trainer/ transition to ME - 2 aircraft c) Piper PA-34 Seneca 200, Multi Engine, advance trainer - 1 aircraft. d) FTD / Frasca 141, SE complex full IFR - 1 Unit e) FNPT II – Elite FNPT Sim, SE/ ME complex full IFR - 1 Unit f) PCATD (Personal Computer-Based Aviation Training Devices) - 1 Unit Refer also Annexx 1, page 9 below under subheading AIRCRAFT & FSTD AAA MAINTENANCE FACILITY AAA has its own maintenance facility to service the eet of aircraft, a CAMO (Continuous Airworthiness Management Organization) and a Sub Part-F facility by the MCAA, who are fully EASA compliant. The AMO is managed by CAM, a Spanish national in possession of Part-66 B1.2 category and assisted by another Spanish national with the same experience with B1.2. The facility is fully equipped with a techni- cal work shop including facilities to enable the maintenance of the academy’s eet of aircraft, meeting with the MCAA / EASA standards and requirements. Refer Annex 1, page 10, under subheading MAINTENANCE FACILITY, for further details. www.aaa-fta.com COMPANY PROFILE | 08 GAN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT - VRMG GAN aerodrome was a former RAF air base, and offers: a) Concrete non-precision runway, 8700 ft, b) Published VOR/DME, GPS and NDB approaches, c) PAPI & ALS d) 24 X 7 fully operational air traffic control facility e) Weather station, AIS and other relevant services provided by the Airport. f) "Approach, Nav Aids" at the AAA home base, enables students to maximize on instrument sorties, without flying to other facilities in other airports, unlike in other countries. g) Air traffic into GAN involves 6 to 8 domestic flights per day and approximately 2 international charter flights per week during the season, making it a very low density airport in terms of air traffic and therefore enabling uninterrupted flying training throughout the day, subject only to weather. h) Students who have completed their theory phase average anything between 20 and 30 flying hours per month.
