HUL announces key appointments 26072013
26072013 : Mr Nitin Paranjpe, currently the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HUL will be joining the Unilever Leadership Executive (ULE), taking on the role of President, Home Care.
Mr. Sanjiv Mehta, currently Chairman, North Africa & Middle East (NAME), Unilever, has been appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Company in place of Mr. Nitin Paranjpe with effect from October 1, 2013. The appointment has been approved by the Board of Directors of HUL and will be subject to approval of the company’s shareholders. He will also be responsible for South Asia cluster which includes India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Notes to Editors: 1) Mr. Nitin Paranjpe (50) was appointed as the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of HUL in April 2008. He is also an Executive Vice President of Unilever Companies in South Asia. He joined the Board of the Company in June 2007.
In his early years in the Company, Mr. Paranjpe worked as Area Sales Manager Detergents and then Product Manager Detergents. In April 1996, he became the Branch Manager Chennai and in February 1999 he was appointed as a member of the Project Millennium Team. In 2000, he moved to Unilever, London, and was involved in a review of the organization structure. During 2001, he was an Executive Assistant to the Chairman and Executive Committee of Unilever. On his return to India in 2002, Mr. Paranjpe became the Category Head Fabric Wash and Regional Brand Director (Asia) for several Laundry and Household Cleaning (HHC) brands. In 2004, he became Vice President Home Care (Laundry & HHC) India, responsible for the Home Care business. He was appointed as the Executive Director for the Home & Personal Care business in March 2006.
Mr. Paranjpe holds a Bachelor Degree in Engineering (Mechanical) and MBA in Marketing from JBIMS, Mumbai.
2) Mr. Sanjiv Mehta (53) is currently the Chairman of Unilever – North Africa and Middle East (NAME), leading a multi country organization spanning 20 countries in the region.
Sanjiv joined Unilever in October 1992. He has led several Unilever businesses across South Asia, South East Asia and Middle East. He was appointed Chairman and Managing Director of Unilever Bangladesh in 2002. In 2007, he was appointed as Chairman and CEO of Unilever Philippines. He took up his current responsibilities as the Chairman of Unilever NAME in 2008.
During his current tenure as the Chairman of Unilever NAME, the business achieved significant success accelerating both growth and profitability. Importantly, he has been instrumental in building leadership talent and substantially strengthening organizational capabilities.
Before joining Unilever, Sanjiv worked for Union Carbide India. He is a Commerce graduate and a Chartered Accountant. He was recipient of the Justice SM Shah and UC Majumdar prizes in the final examination of Chartered Accountancy. In 2004, he completed his Advanced Management Program from Harvard Business School.
