NYU Radiology CME in Banff OPTIONAL ACTIVITIES The activities below have been arranged by TPI on an exclusive basis for NYU attendees so as not to conflict with the meeting agenda. *TPI reserves the right to cancel or re-price any tours that do not meet the minimum requirements. MONDAY, August 3 Welcome to Banff Sightseeing Tour – 1:30 to 6:30pm Adult -- $105Child (6-15) -- $87 Children under 6 – Free Feel the power of Bow Falls and the beauty that surrounds it just below Banff Springs Hotel. Continue exploring from some of the best views in town – Surprise Corner on Tunnel Mountain Drive, the Hoodoos (oddly shaped pillars of glacial rock), Mount Norquay’s winding road and Sulphur Mountain’s Peak. Take the gondola up to the 7,500 ft. summit of Sulphur Mountain and enjoy the panoramic view of the entire Bow Valley. Free time for refreshments in the restaurant or to explore the many trails that wind atop the mountain. Includes: round trip transportation aboard deluxe motorcoach, escort, gondola ride, admission fees, tax, and driver gratuity. Minimum 20 persons. TUESDAY, August 4 Kananaskis River Whitewater Rafting 1:30 to 6:30pm Adult -- $154; Child (5-15) -- $139 Enjoy the perfect mix of mountains, scenery, fun and a little action on an exciting whitewater paddle raft adventure on the scenic Kananaskis River. The river tour is rated a Grade 2 to 3. Once suited up in full rafting gear, begin a scenic float that gradually builds into an unforgettable whitewater thrill! A skilled rafting guide will ensure your safety and amusement. The tour stops along the way to offer optional body surf and swim. Includes: round trip transportation aboard deluxe motorcoach, escort, 1.5 hour whitewater adventure, equipment, towel, snack and beverage, tax and driver gratuity. Minimum 20 persons. Whitewater Rafting – Horseshoe Canyon 1:30 to 6:30pm Adult – $157; Child (10-15) -- $148 For more adventurous rafters, this tour offers thrills and excitement with Class 3 to 4 rapids, as well as spectacular scenery and wildlife viewing. This trip takes you along the Bow River through Horseshoe Canyon – located in the front ranges of the Rockies. A skilled rafting guide will ensure your safety and amusement and you will have the option of experiencing a cliff jump along the way. Includes: round trip transportation aboard deluxe motorcoach, escort, 1.5 hour whitewater adventure, equipment, towel, snack and beverage, tax, and driver gratuities. Minimum 20 persons. WEDNESDAY, August 5 Columbia Icefield Tour (with boxed lunch) 9:30am to 5:30pm Adult -- $190; Child (6-15) -- $166; Children under 6 – Free Spend a day exploring the highest road in Canada – the Icefields Parkway. Witness the evidence left behind by many ice ages – icy blue glaciers that cling to the face of several majestic mountains. The highlight of the day is a stop at the Athabasca Glacier, which seeps down from the central core of the Columbian Icefield. Board a specially designed Snocoach and ride up onto the glacier, where you can step out onto the largest accumulation of ice south of the Artic and christen the moment with a sip of cold glacier water. Once back at the Icefield center, enjoy a picnic lunch at your leisure with free time to sit on the deck or explore the area. On the return to the hotel, photographic stops will be made at the Saskatchewan River, Peyto Lake and the Crowfoot Glacier at Bow Lake. Witness the engineering feat of the Canadian Pacific Rail’s Spiral Tunnels. Stop at the magnificent Takakkaw Falls, the natural rock bridge and more in Yoho National Park. THURSDAY, August 6 Sundance Trail Ride 1:30 – 4:30pm $130 per person Enjoy the quiet, leisurely pace of a horseback trail ride on one of the most popular scenic trails through the Canadian Rockies. Wind your way on the forested trails and along the cool river through spectacular views. A local outfitter/guide will lead the pack and answer any questions you may have along the way. Includes: round trip transportation to stables; escort; 2 hour horseback ride; driver gratuity, and taxes. Minimum 20 persons.
