India recorded 4.43 million international tourist arrivals and over 400 million domestic tourists in 2006. In the same year, Indian tourism generated US$ 6 billion foreign exchange and contributed 5.83% to the GDP. Tourism to India means the third largest foreign exchange earner and one of the largest employment generating industry. India is gifted by a miniature India in the form of State of Jammu and Kashmir. The State comprises three divisions namely, Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh. Each division has its own unique climate, geographical setting, religious beliefs, food pattern, art, culture and traditions and is full of tourism assets which are also distinctive.
