Be It Ordered by the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors that permission be granted Georgia-Pacific Corporation to use the roads listed on the attached letter dated January 28, 1997 to aid them in harvesting timber. Georgia-Pacific Corporation will be responsible for their damages to said roads.

ORDER REQUESTING STATE AID ENGINEER TO ADD ABANDONED PORTION OF HIGHWAY 26 TO COUNTY'S SYSTEM OF STATE AID ROADS.

Upon motion made by Anthony Hales and seconded by Thomas F. Spiers, the following order was adopted, to-wit:

It came on for consideration the matter of adding a section of road to Pearl River County's system of State Aid Routes;

AND WHEREAS the Mississippi Department of Transportation has relocated and constructed a portion of Mississippi Highway 26 near the City of Poplarville;

AND WHEREAS that portion of Mississippi Highway 26 which was by- passed by said relocation has now been abandoned by the Mississippi Department of Transportation to Pearl River County for maintenance;

AND WHEREAS the Board of Supervisors of Pearl River County wishes to be allowed to use state aid funds for the maintenance of said abandoned portion of Mississippi Highway 26;

NOW THEREFORE the Board of Supervisors does hereby request that the State Aid Engineer add to Pearl River County's system of State Aid Roads that abandoned portion of Mississippi State Highway 26 described as:

Beginning at the intersection of Mississippi Highway 26 and old Highway 26 (Project No. SP-26-6(1)) near the SW corner of the Ne 1/4 of the NE 1/4 of Section 35, Township 2 South, Range 16 West; therefore Easterly for 1.8 miles, more or less, to the intersection with Mississippi Highway 11 near the SW corner of the NW 1/4 of Section 30, Township 2 South, Range 16 West, Pearl River County, Mississippi

There came on for consideration by the Board of Supervisors of Pearl River County, Mississippi, the necessity of certain county personnel attending workshops, seminars and meetings, and after consideration of same, the Board having determined that it be to the best interest of said county for said officials and employees to attend said workshops and seminars in order to be aware of new rules, regulations and/or guidelines affecting county government and in order to better serve the public, the following order was adopted, to-wit;

BE IT ORDERED that the following listed officials and county employees be and are hereby approved to attend various workshops, seminars and meetings listed below and that reimbursement for any expenses incurred be and is hereby approved, including, but not limited to, travel, meals, lodging, registration fees and other expenses incidental to said workshops, seminars and meetings. FINAL ORDER

There came on this day for final hearing the application of

Pearl River Chip Mill, Inc., domiciled in Pearl River County, Mississippi, for exemption from ad valorem taxation by the Board of Supervisors of Pearl River County, Mississippi, for a period of ten (10) years from and after August 25, 1995, on tangible property used in or necessary to its operation in Pearl River County, Mississippi, having fully heard and considered said application and entering its resolution herein on the 13th day of May, 1996, and upon being advised by letter from the State Tax Commission that said application and resolution has been approved by said Mississippi State Tax Commission, the Board of Supervisors of Pearl River County, Mississippi finds that said application should be granted upon the property described in said application and resolution for a period of ten (10) years computed off and from August 25, 1995, said Board being of such opinion and so finding;

IT IS, THEREFORE, HEREBY FINALLY ORDERED by the Board of

Supervisors of Pearl River County, Mississippi, that Pearl River Chip Mill, Inc., be and is hereby granted exemption from ad valorem taxation, except taxation by the State of Mississippi and school district ad valorem taxes for the period ten (10) years, said period computed off and from August 25, 1995, upon the property described in said application and resolution, being a total of $3,023,311.

ORDER TO AMEND COUNTY PERSONNEL POLICY

Upon motion made by Thomas F. Spiers and seconded by Charles

Ray Stockstill, the following order was adopted, to-wit:

BE IT ORDERED by the Board of Supervisors of Pearl River County

that the County Personnel Policy be amended to include the following statement concerning the

County's Policy against sexual harassment.

POLICY AGAINST SEXUAL HARASSMENT

Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors and other

verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when: (1) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual's employment,

(2) submission to a rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individuals, or (3) such conduct has the purpose or effect of unreasonably interfering with an individual's work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment. It is the policy of the County to maintain a work environment that is free from the hostile atmosphere created by sexual harassment or intimidation. Such conduct will not be tolerated.

If you are subjected to sexually harassing or intimidating conduct by an individual, including supervisory personnel, employed by the County, you should immediately report the incident to your department head or the County Administrator. If your department head is the County Administrator, you should report sexually harassing conduct to the County Administrator or the President of the Board of Supervisors. such charges will be properly investigated and if substantiated, the offending individual will be appropriately disciplined. To the extent possible, all persons involved in a complaint of sexual harassment will be given the utmost protection or privacy. Persons complaining of sexual harassment will also be protected from reprisals and retaliation by co-workers as a result of such complaints.

Be It Ordered by the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors that Bobby Sneed, employed by U.S.A. & M., be hired to mediate a County Personnel problem. In accordance with Section 19-3-69 and based upon the recommendation of Board Attorney, Nova Carroll, the Board of Supervisors finds that such Professional Services are necessary and in the best interest of the County.

Be It Ordered by the Pearl River County Board of Supervisors that Gary Beech, County Administrator, be authorized and directed to make an Inter-fund Loan from the general fund to the County Mill Fire Fund in the amount of $47,000.00.
