Center of Creative Community - Chiba University This project was selected by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology in the fiscal year of 2013 as an FY2013 Center of Community (COC) Program. As a university in a residential community in the suburbs of a large metropolis with many local issues, through this project, we aim to create a center for initiating comprehensive efforts in education and research and in making social contributions to address these problems. To undertake these initiatives, we have established the Office of Communi- ty and Innovation and a new local satellite campus. We have also put in place a university management framework, and in collabora- tion with municipal governments, we are promoting reforms throughout the university to become a community-oriented university.

- University for the Community

New Education: Promotion of Compulsory Subject & Field Studies In the 2015 academic year, as a course in the liberal arts, we commenced compulsory subjects: the Community Revitalization Care program and intend to develop human resources that can play a more active role and contribute to the community as well as a specialist who will find solutions to local problems.

Greater Contribution to the Community Promotion of Activities that Contribute to the Community through the Collaboration of the Public, Private and Academic sectors

In Matsudo City in and other places, we will also promote the College Link Program (recurrent education), which is achieving positive outcomes at the Kashiwanoha campus, as a new study program based on the collaboration of the public, private and academic sectors. We will also conduct “town toolbox” sessions (display of research and education results), public lectures, seminars and workshops.

Distinctive Initiative We will utilize a former school building as a satellite campus of Chiba University for promoting education and research activities and making social contributions.
