Dear Reader, Upcoming Events Barbara Louise Mertz was an American author who wrote under her own name as Keep Aransas Beautiful well as under the pseudonyms Elizabeth Peters and Barbara Michaels. In 1952 she August 8, 2017 5:15-6:00 p.m. received a PhD in Egyptology from the University of Chicago. Under the pseudonym Elizabeth Peters, 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. Mertz published her Amelia Peabody historical mystery series, using a nom de plume drawn from the names of her two children.
