MINISTRY OF EDUCATION REPUBLIC OF KENYA STATE DEPARTMENT OF EARLY LEARNING AND BASIC EDUCATION ANNOUNCEMENT FOR THE ELIMU SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME – FY 2019/ 2020 The Ministry of Education through Equity Group Foundation is offering Secondary School Scholar- No Sub County No Sub County ships in 110 targeted Sub-Counties and fifteen (15) urban centres with informal settlements, to poor and vulnerable children from financially constrained backgrounds and who attained 280 marks and 19 Dadaab 40 Marani above in 2019 KCPE. For affirmative action, candidates who are Orphans and/or from Vulnerable 20 Fafi 41 Nyamache Communities and those with special needs and disabilities who attained below 280 marks may be considered. 21 Hulugho 42 Ikutha 43 Kyuso 77 Uriri Only the Candidates who sat for KCPE examinations in 2019 from public primary schools in the 110 Sub-Counties and the fifteen (15) urban centres with informal settlements will be eligible 44 Mumoni 78 Kandara to apply. The list of the targeted Sub-counties and the fifteen (15) urban centres with informal settlements can be accessed through the Ministry of Education and Equity 46 Mutomo 80 Murang'a East Group Foundation websites; www.education.go.ke and https://egfdmis.equitybank.co.ke/reg- 47 Mwingi Central 81 Tinderet ister_elimu 48 Mwingi East 82 Trans Mara East The applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria: 49 Nzambani 83 Samburu Central • Candidates with special needs and disabilities (Physical, Hearing and Visual Impairments, Autism, 50 Tseikuru 84 Samburu East Albinism, Learning Disabilities and Others); or 51 Kinango 85 Samburu North • Orphans and vulnerable children; or • Candidates from vulnerable communities in the target Sub-Counties; or 52 Kwale 86 Taveta • Candidates from urban centres with informal settlements; or 53 Msambweni 87 Bura (Tana North) • Candidates: o whose parents/guardians are living with disabilities that have compromised their ability to meet 54 Laikipia North 88 Tana Delta the financial obligations of their children 55 Masinga 89 Tana River o whose families are affected by HIV/AIDS and other chronic illnesses with debilitating effects that could render parents and guardians destitute and unable to fend for their families 56 Yatta 90 Tharaka North o whose families are affected by extreme poverty rendering them unable to educate their children 57 Kathonzweni 91 Tharaka South o Who have suffered from neglect, abuse and have no support to continue with their education. 58 Kibwezi 92 Kibish Interested applicants are advised to collect the scholarship application forms from the nearest Equity 59 Makindu 93 Loima Bank Branch or Equity Bank Agent as from Wednesday 4th December 2019.
