In 1959 the group morphed into Stamford Amateur Stage. In 1963, it changed its name again, and became Stamford Shoestring Theatre. Shoestring has performed on many stages in the town, starting with Stamford School and Stamford High School Halls, the Darby & Joan Hall, the Congregational (now United Reformed) Church Hall and finally came to rest at Stamford Theatre as Stamford Arts Centre's resident amateur repertory company from 1978.
