The Filming of BBC's Strictly Come Dancing During a Global Pandemic For Immediate Release : September 2020 The filming of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing during a global pandemic Strictly Come Dancing will treat audiences to a waltz down memory lane with it’s latest four part commission, Strictly: The Best of. Filmed in the heart of lockdown, each episode celebrates magical moments in the show's 16 years history selected from Movies, Musicals, Blackpool and Finals. The nation is set to enjoy some much needed Strictly sparkle in the weeks leading up to the live shows. The series will be hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman who will be joined from home by Strictly Come Dancing’s fabulous judging panel made up of Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Shirley Ballas and (live from LA!) Bruno Tonioli. So how does a world-renowned primetime show produce high-end programming during lockdown and a global pandemic? That’s where WilkieTV (rebranding as Limitless Broadcast from Q4 2020) were able to bring their highly technical and sought after expertise to the test for a world first in remote production, and a first for Strictly. It was clear an innovative and safe way of filming was needed to tie each episode together and showcase Strictly’s talent. WilkieTV enabled Strictly to remotely film over 120 interviews with locked-down contributors in 7 countries, across 3 continents, and within four weeks in the midst of COVID-19. Ross Flynn, Production Manager, BBC Studios Strictly Come Dancing, said “Our filming plans changed on the Thursday and we were due to start filming on the Monday - from my initial call with WilkieTV it was clear that they were fully on board with what we wanted to achieve. They came up with a solution that not only worked for the team working from home, but also our talent. Over 120 interviews later, the final result exceeded all expectations and I look forward to working with WilkieTV in the future.” The Strictly producers had complex scripting that required real-time directing with all production staff working remotely from home. A high standard of delivery was paramount, whilst remaining stream-lined and easy-to-use for professional dancers, celebrities, musicians, and politicians that had featured on the show. Strictly were able to produce their talent entirely remotely by viewing live HD video streams from the contributor’s camera, and talking directly to them. WilkieTV remotely handled every live feed through their MCR in Surrey, with engineers supporting Strictly’s team and talent every step of the way. Full HD recordings, with isolated audio were then delivered electronically each day to the post-production house in London. For Immediate Release : September 2020 Claire Wilkie, Managing Director, said “Guiding Strictly’s talented team through the motions of remote production was a real joy. I’m delighted we could help Strictly bring it’s sparkle and glitter in the midst of COVID-19.” Strictly, The Best of Movies is set to broadcast at 19.30pm Saturday 19th September, BBC One. --END-- WilkieTV is a broadcast and live streaming company, rebranding to Limitless Broadcast from Q4 2020. Panto Season Click here for the audio. As December arrives and the tinsel comes out our thoughts turn to our seasonal traditions as Christmas cheer fills the air, in almost every theatre across the country a that seasonal tradition sparkles with uniquely British institution and tradition of Pantomime. Accessibility ranks high when it comes to panto with the majority of these glossy festive shows coming with audio descriptions and touch tours. I decided to choose a few of these to sample in theatres around the country and I found myself during December and January in Stoke on Trent indulging in the magic of Aladdin, down south in Crawley soaking up Snow White and the seven dwarfs, in Wolverhampton for Jack and the Beanstalk and taking a break in Southampton for a different interpretation of Snow White and finally experiencing a family festive production of a cult classic- 101 Dalmatians at the Birmingham Rep which was offering a pre-recorded audio description on every performance for the first time. • The Bbc Trust Report: On-Screen and On-Air Talent Including an Independent Assessment and Report by Oliver & Ohlbaum Associates
THE BBC TRUST REPORT: ON-SCREEN AND ON-AIR TALENT INCLUDING AN INDEPENDENT ASSESSMENT AND REPORT BY OLIVER & OHLBAUM ASSOCIATES MAY 2008 2 BBC TRUST CONCLUSIONS The issue of talent costs The BBC Trust operates to protect the interests of licence fee payers who pay for and own the BBC. As part of this we seek to ensure quality and value for money for licence fee payers and to challenge BBC management to use everything at their disposal to deliver both. An area where this is particularly complex is the salaries paid to on-screen and on-air talent. During the course of 2006, press reports about presenters’ salaries aroused industry and public concern and led some people to question the BBC’s approach to the talent it employs. This debate was still live when the Trust was established as the BBC’s governing body in January 2007. It was and has remained a topic raised by the public with Trustees during our appearances on radio phone-ins and at public meetings in all parts of the UK. Against this background the Trust commissioned an independent review, conducted by Oliver and Ohlbaum Associates Ltd (O&O), to provide an in depth examination of the BBC’s use of on air and on screen talent. We posed O&O three specific questions: • How do the size and structure of the BBC's reward packages for talent compare with the rest of the market? • What has been the impact of the BBC's policy on the talent market, particularly in relation to cost inflation? • To what extent do the BBC's policy and processes in relation to investment in, and reward of, talent support value for money? We are publishing O&O’s report which seeks to answer these questions, the BBC management’s response to the points it raises and our own judgements informed by this evidence.

  • Celebrates Its First Birthday at the Duchess Theatre with Booking Period Extended to September 2016
Press Release: 8 September 2015 CELEBRATES ITS FIRST BIRTHDAY AT THE DUCHESS THEATRE WITH BOOKING PERIOD EXTENDED TO SEPTEMBER 2016 THE ORIGINAL CAST ARE BACK IN THE WEST END WITH A SEASONAL RUN OF PETER PAN GOES WRONG AT THE APOLLO THEATRE The Play That Goes Wrong, the Olivier Award-winning box office hit, celebrates its first, triumphant year in the West End, and as a new booking period opens with tickets going on sale until 11 September 2016, the show's phenomenal popularity with audiences looks set to continue. For a limited run over the festive season at the Apollo Theatre, the original cast of The Play That Goes Wrong will bring their trademark comic mayhem to the J.M. Barrie classic and timeless favourite, Peter Pan. In Peter Pan Goes Wrong, the members of The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society once again battle against technical hitches, flying mishaps and cast disputes on their way to Neverland with hilarious and disastrous results. Awarded the 2014 Whatsonstage.com Best New Comedy and the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy, The Play That Goes Wrong continues to thrive and it is a remarkable rags-to-riches story. The production's unparalleled trajectory of success began in 2013, when it opened as a one-act show at the Old Red Lion in London with only four paying members of the public at the first performance. This was followed by a transfer to the Trafalgar Studios, where the show's unique potential was spotted by producers Kenny Wax and Stage Presence, and subsequently to the Duchess Theatre.
