Title of post: School Staff Instructor (SSI) Salary: £5,000 per annum plus up to 51 days Voluntary Allowance (split funded post between Academy and MoD) Working pattern: 40 days term time + max 20 days + max 51 days VA Accountable to: Contingent

Manor CCF was started in September 2017. It has had a very successful year to date and there is a waiting list of students wishing to join. There is a small and extremely enthusiastic team of CFAVs. Despite having relatively little military experience, much has been achieved in the unit and aspirations for the future are high. Our are motivated and keen to be the best that they can be.

General CCF Information: It is envisaged that Manor CCF will continue to grow and form an integral part of the extra-curricular life of the Academy. It is envisaged that the SSI will play a formative role in establishing the CCF further as a part of the learning and leadership development opportunities offered to the learners of the Academy.

Learners volunteer for the CCF and the SSI will have a marketing role to develop the contingent beyond its initial level of 60 learners. There is an Army cohort in the first instance, but the vision for the contingent is that it will grow to include and contingents too.

The SSI (CCF) is responsible to the Contingent Commander for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of the children and young people for whom s/he is responsible, or with whom s/he comes into contact. S/he will adhere to and ensure compliance with the Trust’s Child Protection Policy at all times. If in the course of carrying out the duties of the post the SSI (CCF) becomes aware of any actual or potential risks to the safety or welfare of children in the Trust s/he must report any concerns to the Academy’s Senior Child Protection Officer or to the Executive Principal.

Main Purpose of Job: The SSI is a key CCF staff member whose principal role is to organise and deliver military and adventure training to the CCF (all sections in due course). The SSI role is central to the smooth and efficient running of the Contingent and the development of the leadership potential of Cadets. There is an expectation that the SSI will take a lead role in the future direction of the CCF.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Instruction and Training 1. Plan and deliver military and adventurous instruction and training to CCF Staff and Cadets including mandatory safety tests

2. Assist with both military and adventurous training camps, shooting and Cadet Competitions 3. Lead on the development and delivery of Public and Uniformed Services Qualifications

Equipment and Administration 1. Responsibility for the issue, care, maintenance and accountability of all MoD and CCF equipment and run the Academy adventurous training stores 2. The daily control of the issue, receipt, maintenance, security and serviceability of arms, ammunition and explosives held in the Armoury security facilities. Function as the principal key controller to the Armoury (once available) 3. Take a key role in the running of the Westminster Database

Other duties 1. Attend, organise and assist with Academy duty support 2. Attend all meetings and conferences as required 3. Establish Leadership BTEC/ILM Qualifications as appropriate

General:

They may be required to perform any other reasonable duties, as requested by the Principal/Contingent Commander, as the post evolves which are reasonable and commensurate with the job description.

This job description is provided to assist the post holder to know their principal duties. It may be amended in consultation with the holder without change to the level of responsibility or remuneration appropriate to the post.

Special Working Conditions: The SSI will be employed as a member of the Trust Support Staff and be subject to the Trust’s standard terms and conditions of employment. You will be employed for 40 days term time + up to 20 days to cover camps and weekend activities, plus up to 51 days Voluntary Allowance. You will be required to work Saturdays and/or Sundays depending on CCF weekend activities.

The Job Holder’s responsibility for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children and young persons for whom he/she is responsible (or with whom he/she comes into contact) will be to adhere to and be compliant with the Trust’s Child Protection Policy at all times. The appointment of the SSI is subject to approval and security clearance by the MoD and to an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check. The SSI is subject to the CCF regulations and his/her attention should be drawn to JSP 313.

Benefits of Employment: Salary: A competitive package, depending on experience and qualifications upon appointment, plus up to 50 days MoD pay. MoD pay will be claimed through a non-standard claim form.

Annual Leave Entitlement: the post holder will be required to take Annual Leave during closure periods. There is no provision for leave, with or without pay, for holidays during term time.
