Welcome Message Nick Dean, Chief Constable I am very pleased that you are interested in making an application for the role of Deputy Chief Constable for my Force. I have been in post since October 2018, so I am still learning about all aspects of the organisation. I am looking for a Deputy who will support me in ensuring visible leadership is at the heart of what we do as we take on some significant challenges in our Force and our region.

The first half of 2018 saw an unprecedented amount of change for Cambridgeshire with both the introduction of a new Crime, Intelligence, Custody and Case System, which has fundamentally changed the majority of our processes and procedures. Further collaborative working with Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Constabularies has been progressed and the most significant change to the delivery of policing across Cambridgeshire has been implemented under the Local Policing Review. With a change in leadership, these major change projects created challenges and uncertainty and as the newly appointed Deputy Chief Constable you will be at the We will continue to look at new and better ways to deliver a policing forefront to continue to build on the implementation of these projects service, which includes making the best use of new technology and throughout 2019 and beyond. working to better understand and manage demand to allow us to respond and adapt to the needs of the public and help keep people Cambridgeshire continues to be one of the fastest growing areas, with an safe. I believe that a one team ethos is critical to success and therefore I'm a big believer of building relationships and partnerships both within our organisation and outside of it that can only serve to make our job easier and help us perform better. Working as one team' is now part of our mission statement, to emphasise how strongly I feel about working together. We have a number of challenges coming up in the next 12 months but without a single team approach we will struggle to achieve our vision. I will be relying on the support of my DCC to make this vision a reality.

I have spent my first three months as Chief Constable speaking to as many of my colleagues throughout Cambridgeshire Constabulary as possible through visits, seminars and reference groups. Cambridgeshire Constabulary is a great place to work and we have a team of exceptionally dedicated and enthusiastic staff who are committed to doing their best for the people of Cambridgeshire. This inspires me coming into a new organisation and likewise, I hope that it will inspire you.

This year will also bring us lots of opportunities to further demonstrate the creativity and innovation I have seen already, and the continued 'can do' attitude I've witnessed in the time I've been here has impressed me greatly.

For me, the ideal candidate will be someone who can live the vision set out above, lead by example across the organisation and who is committed to public service and keeping the people of this county safe.

I hope that you are now even more inspired to make an application and I urge you to have a look at the role profile and other information on our website. Cambridgeshire is an exciting, diverse, challenging place to live and work. I look forward to hearing from you to progress your application further and to meeting you at the assessment stage of the process.

I look forward to your application.

The Police and Crime Commissioner‘s Police and Crime Plan focusses on four key themes: Victims, Offenders, Communities, and Transformation. The Plan puts people at the heart of what we do. It aims to meet the needs of our many Police and Crime Plan and diverse communities and ensure we have a police service that we can all trust and Community Safety & Criminal Justice be proud of. To achieve this and continue to keep our communities safe we need to understand and manage our demand and look for new, effective and efficient ways to deliver policing. The Plan focuses on the most vulnerable members of society, putting victims at the centre of our work, bringing offenders to justice and deterring them from re- offending. This means the Plan looks beyond the work of the Cambridgeshire Constabulary. It seeks to drive changes to the way public services work together in the county, aligning activity, improving efficiency and reducing cost. At the same time it looks to increase public participation in creating stronger, safer communities. In the face of complex economic and social pressures, we must think and act differently and continue to transform the way we work through collaboration and new technology. In order to achieve this, we will support our staff to develop and care for our people so they can reach their full potential and feel proud of what they do. It is important that we remember our duty to the taxpayer to deliver a police service in the most efficient and effective way, providing the best value for money. This means exploring new and innovative approaches, investing in technology and working with others, be that in our strategic alliance with Bedfordshire Police and Hertfordshire Constabulary or with our partners in the local authority, fire, health and the voluntary sector. Through working together we are all able to deliver a more coherent response to communities needs whilst providing resilience for now and in the future.
