The information given is confidential and personal information will never be made public. Interviewer: give the respondent the information sheet and ask them to sign the consent form overleaf. 4 Consent The Cape Area Study is an ongoing study of life in Cape Town run by the Centre for Social Science Research at the University of Cape Town. This year (2005) we are examining what adults in Cape Town think about a number of issues, including the performance of local government, the neighbourhood, education, the future, and a range of social and political issues. This research will be used by students at the University of Cape Town and for books and articles about Cape Town. • Your participation is entirely voluntary. You do not have to take part in the interview, and may stop at any time if you do not want to continue. You also have the right to skip any particular question or questions if you do not want to answer them. • We expect that the interview will take approximately sixty minutes. • All information collected for this study will be kept strictly confidential. Individual responses to our questions will never be made public, and no information which could identify you will ever be released. • You have the right to ask questions at any point before the interview, during the interview, or after the interview is completed. • If you would like to receive information about the findings of this study, please tell the interviewer at the end of the interview, check that your address is correct, and we will send you more information in due course.
