Michelle Kwan

The most decorated figure skater in U.S. history, Michelle Kwan's skating brilliance and accomplishments have earned her a place among the all-time greats of the sport. For over a decade (1995-2005) Michelle dominated the sport like no other skater in history, winning an unprecedented 43 championships, including five World Championships, eight consecutive and nine overall U.S. National Championships and two Olympic medals. Most recently, Michelle was elected to the U.S. Hall of Fame Class of 2012 as well as the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame as the only member of the Class of 2012. In the nearly 100-year history of U.S. figure skating, no American man or woman has won more world titles, national titles or Olympic medals.

Michelle's activities off the ice have been equally noteworthy. In November 2006, the U.S. Secretary of State appointed Michelle as the first U.S. Public Diplomacy Envoy. In this capacity Michelle travels the world and meets with young people to speak about leadership and to engage them in dialogue on social and educational issues. In June 2010, President Obama appointed Michelle to the President's Council on Fitness, Sports and Nutrition, a group that advises the President on ways to engage, empower and educate all Americans to lead active, healthy lifestyles. In December 2010, Michelle was elected to the Board of Directors of International, the organization's ultimate governing authority responsible for global affairs and strategies. Michelle graduated from the University of Denver in November 2008 with a degree in International Studies. In May 2011, she received a master's degree from the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy at , majoring in International Relations.

Michelle's skating artistry and grace are without equal. In her career she received 57 perfect 6.0 marks, the most by any skater in history. No performances were better than her two at the 1998 U.S. National Championships, where Michelle earned a record 15 perfect 6.0 marks out of a possible 18. To this day it is called "the gold standard for future generations of figure skaters."

Michelle has earned numerous awards and honors, including: 2003 U.S. Olympic Committee (USOC) SportsWoman of the Year; 2001 Sullivan Award as the top amateur athlete in America; 1998 Sportswoman of the Year by the Women's Sports Foundation; 2002 and 2003 Kids' Choice Award and the 2002 Teen Choice Award as America's favorite female athlete. In 2000 Michelle was selected one of People Magazine's "50 Most Beautiful People in the World". In 2003 Michelle earned her seventh U.S. Figure Skating Skater of the Year award. In an unprecedented move, U.S. Figure Skating renamed the award in her honor. It is now called the Michelle Kwan Trophy. In May 2010, Michelle received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from Southern Vermont College.

Summer Sanders

Summer Sanders pursues excellence in all facets of her life, be it in the swimming pool, in car pool, or in front of the camera. At the 1992 Olympic Games in Barcelona, Sanders emerged as the most decorated U.S. swimmer, winning four medals – two gold, a silver and a bronze. Following retiring from swimming, Sanders pursued a career in television. From 1997 to 2005, Sanders appeared on a plethora of programs as correspondent, co- host and host. Highlights include eight years co-hosting “NBA Inside Stuff” on NBC, becoming the first female game-show on Nickelodeon by hosting “Figure It Out,” acting as a swimming corresponding for NBC during the 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games, being an Olympic correspondent for the “Today Show,” and hosting Fox’s entertaining sports show “The Sports List.” Sanders also worked as a sideline reporter for the NBA, WNBA and U.S. Open.

In addition, Sanders is also a health and fitness advocate, producing articles and tips for various magazines and a prenatal workout DVD, as well as the author of Champions are Raised Not Born. In her two years at Stanford University, Sanders compiled six individual NCAA titles and four relay championships, earned back-to-back NCAA Swimmer of the Year awards, and propelled Stanford to the 1992 National Championship.

Sanders took a brief hiatus from TV to become a loving wife and mother. She married Olympian and former U.S. Ski Team Alpine racer Erik Schlopy and has two children, Skye and Spider. She returned to TV in 2009, and has worked as a correspondent for “Good Morning America,” “The Rachael Ray Show,” NBC’s Universal Sports Network and Yahoo! Sports, and appeared on NBC’s “Celebrity Apprentice.” She is a UNICEF and a Right to Play Ambassador.

Summer is honored to be a Coca-Cola Olympic Torchbearer for this year’s Games in London. She says she is looking forward to making another Olympic memory and being part of helping Coke make memorable moments for others.
