January 19, 2016 Pierson Grant Public Relations 954/776-1999 Chris Feeley, ext. 237 [email protected] Always. .Patsy Cline at Aventura Arts & Cultural Center Pays Tribute to the Legendary Country Singer AVENTURA, Fla. – On Thursday, February 4 at 8 p.m., the Aventura Arts & Cultural Center will present Always...Patsy Cline, a musical play and tribute to the legendary country singer, which includes the story of Cline’s friendship with a fan from Houston who befriended Cline in a Texas honky-tonk and corresponded with the star until her tragic death in a 1963 plane crash. Woven with down-home country humor, true emotion and some audience participation, the show’s title was inspired by Cline’s letters to Louise Seger, which she consistently signed, “Love ALWAYS. .Patsy Cline.” In all, the show includes 27 of Cline’s unforgettable hits, such as “Crazy,” “I Fall to Pieces,” “Sweet Dreams” and “Walking after Midnight.” Cindy Williams, best known for playing Shirley Feeney on the 70s hit TV show Laverne & Shirley, will star as Louise Seger. Her stage credits include, The Drowsy Chaperone (Broadway), The Odd Couple with Joanne Worley. Film credits include The Conversation and George Lucas’s American Graffiti, for which she received a British Academy award nomination for Best Supporting actress. Written and originally directed by Ted Swindley, Always...Patsy Cline has played for years throughout the U.S., including a successful off-Broadway run. According to American Theater Magazine, it has been one of the most-produced musicals in America and also has been seen internationally in Canada, the UK and Australia. -
Programming; Providing an Environment for the Growth and Education of Theatre Professionals, Audiences and the Community at Large
MARCH 2012 Welcome to This World Premiere production of Marc Acito and Jeffrey Stock’s enchanting A Room with a View marks the culmination of more than a year of development, workshops and rehearsals. It also represents The Old Globe’s ongoing commitment to launching new musicals and to making San Diego an artistic home for the best and brightest creative talent in theatre. A Room with HENRY DIROCCO HENRY a View follows a sheltered young English girl, Lucy Honeychurch, on her travels to Italy, where she learns about not only the world but also herself. We hope it will transport you to another time and place, sweeping you along on Lucy’s journey of discovery and romance. We are also pleased to welcome director Scott Schwartz back to The Old Globe. Scott directed the Globe’s immensely successful productions of Golda’s Balcony, Broadway Bound, Brighton Beach Memoirs and Lost in Yonkers. Scott has been both a vital part of the development of A Room with a View and an ideal director for its World Premiere production. As you may know, The Old Globe has embarked upon a nationwide search for new artistic leadership, assisted by the search firm AlbertHall&Associates. The firm was co-founded by former Globe Managing Director Tom Hall, whose knowledge of and commitment to The Old Globe will be a great asset to this process. We look forward to an exciting new chapter in the artistic life of The Old Globe as we continue to pursue our mission, serve our San Diego community and create some of the best theatre in the country. -
Winter 2018 Newsletter of Actors and Others for Animals
WINTER 2018 NEWSLETTER OF ACTORS AND OTHERS FOR ANIMALS WWW.ACTORSANDOTHERS.COM It was more than 25 years ago that Actors and Others established its medical subsidy program. Today, the number of requests we receive is staggering and rising rapidly. Without our help, many pets would not get any treatment and face an unknown future. Pet guardians don’t anticipate that their pets may get ill or injured, and many find themselves financially unable to provide treatment. And this is even more widespread nowadays with more and more animal shelters giving away pets in an effort to adopt our more animals, charging very little or having special “2 for $10.00” promotions. While it is impossible to predict when and what illness or injury may strike your pet, it is important to understand that at some point it will. We see a lot of bladder stones, urinary infections, tumors and eye removals. A great many of the requests for help we receive are for broken bones, lacerations and amputations caused by being hit by a car. We also see a lot of cases of injuries from dog fights. The common denominator in a lot of these cases is that the dog was not on a leash. Delay in getting veterinary care also results in infections and abscesses. “Intervention” is the new buzz word in animal welfare to keep pets in the homes, and Actors and Others’ long-standing veterinary intervention program once again has shown itself to lead the way! HERE ARE A FEW EXAMPLES OF HOW YOUR SUPPORT HAS HELPED BOTH PETS AND THEIR GRATEFUL GUARDIANS Lindsey G. -

Volume XXV No. 22 Hometown Newspaper for Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Glen Head, Glenwood, Locust Valley and Brookville Week of 2/11/16 75C Glen Cove Cheerleaders Place Second in Competition Congratulations to the Glen Cove Varsity Cheerleaders! On Jan. 31, the girls went head-to-head with teams across Long Island at the Smithtown West Competition. According to coach Jessica Thompson, it has been a long and bumpy road for these girls, who have shown dedication, perseverance and strength. In the words of captain Lila Nolan, “No other sport wants you to look pretty while screaming like a man, holding another person in the air, tossing them, catching them and smiling!” Cheerleading is a tough sport, but Thompson said the girls made it look easy. Congratulations on taking home the second-place trophy. The next stop is the Cheer Extreme Nationals by the Sea in Virginia Beach this March. Garry E Penny Marshall E Il Mito “Abruzzese”
