Dan Knox was anempting to close the account he had opened during his year in Panama when he used his card in the Barclays Bank cash machine opposite the Parkinson Building. But the Leeds University Spanish finalist was astonished when the machine kept giving him more and more money. 1-k explained: wanted to close the account so I kept asking tier money until it would give me no more. First I asked for a hundred pounds each time. then two hundred pounds. and then five hundred pounds a time.- Eventually Dan bagged £10.0(X) from the Barclays machine before it ran out of money and he instantly nipped into the Blenheim Terrace bank to open an Instant Saver account to put it in. He then moved next door to the Midland Bank machine which proved to be equally generous. But after he had made his final deposit the bemused student decided it was time to telephone the head office of the Panamanian hank where he held the account to inform them of their error. And Dan's incredible tale has now catapulted him into the national media spotlight as the beneficiary of one of the greatest dividends on a single account for years.
