BOWERBIRDS "becalmyounglovers" (PSYCHIC PSY010 CD BOWERBIRDS "becalmyounglovers (teal)” (PSYCHIC PSY010LPC1 LP April 30 street date. "becalmyounglovers" is as much a return as it is a farewell. Phil Moore's first Bowerbirds since 2012 is an artifact of transition, a domino effect of doors closing and Moore stumbling headfirst into the uncertainty of what comes after a life fundamentally changes. Like a polaroid slowly swimming into focus, "becalmyounglovers" reconciles the memories of yourself in relation to another person, and then what's unearthed when you're left to face your identity alone - and which one of those selves is true? Written and recorded mainly in an isolated cabin hand built by Moore and his ex-partner, out in Siler City, North Carolina, "becalmyounglovers" chronicles a long-term relationship's death rattle, inevitable breakup, and its immediate aftermath - and Moore's getting to understand himself better in the process. These songs don't trudge through upheaval - instead, they float, still sanguine and light in the face of plans gone awry. GUNS 'N' WANKERS "For Dancing And (FAT WRECK) FAT519 10" Listening (EP)" March 12 street date. Vinyl reissue of this 8 track mini-album originally issued in 1994. ALIENS "Back To Beyond" (ACIO ACIO003 12"EP March 5 street date. The Aliens are a Scottish band consisting of former Beta Band members Gordon Anderson (aka Lone Pigeon, lead vocals, ), John Maclean (keyboards, backing vocals) and Robin Jones (drums, backing vocals). Formed from the ashes of The Beta Band, The Aliens blazed a trail with two critically acclaimed LP's in the mid to late Noughties - hitting the UK official charts as well as Hollywood film & TV - before mysteriously vanishing from the Humanoid star system. Hot on the heels of marking their return with the surprising electronica- delia of Electronville The Aliens present their latest album-length EP and a return to something more familiar for their long time fans. The A-side on Back To Beyond entails the 10 minute drone rock disasterpiece Follow The Son, the melancholy instrumental sdlmnm strings and the bastard love child of two of their most popular songs in Roxbot. Side B features atmospheric instrumental tingler For Emma, a Robot Man mix appropriately titled Reboot Man and finishes with the longer, dirtier, rawer, inbred cousin of fan favourite Magic Man - Majic Man Prequel. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… Back To Beyond is like a wedding of The Aliens. After a dormant decade the mercurial Gordon Anderson AKA Lone Pigeon is on a crusade to release as many of his estimated 10,000 songs as Alienly possible and come to the rescue of the downward spiralling Humanoids of Planet Earth. While The Aliens continue work on their much anticipated new LP the good news is that there’s plenty to keep fans occupied in the meantime. DOYLE, WILLIAM "Great Spans Of Muddy (TOUGH LOVE) TLV138CD CD Time" DOYLE, WILLIAM "Great Spans Of Muddy (TOUGH LOVE) TLV138LP LP Time (white vinyl)" March 26 street date. It's nearly a decade since William Doyle handed a CD-R demo to the Quietus co-founder John Doran at a gig. Doran loved it so much he set up a label to release Doyle's debut EP (as East India Youth). Doyle's debut album, "Total Strife Forever", followed in 2014, as did a nomination for the Mercury Music Prize. A year later, he was signed to XL, touring the world and about to release his second album all by the age of 25. After self- releasing four ambient and instrumental , Doyle's third full-length record and the first under his own name "Your Wilderness Revisited" arrived to ecstatic reviews in 2019. Just over a year later, as he turns 30, Doyle is back with "Great Spans of Muddy Time". Born from accident but driven forward by instinct, the album was built from the remnants of a catastrophic hard-drive failure. With his work saved only to , Doyle was forced to accept the recordings as they were - a sharp departure from his process on "Your Wilderness Revisited", which took four long years to craft toward perfection. RIYL: Brian Eno, Hitchcock, Robert Wyatt, Berlin-era Bowie, Cleaners From Venus. DWYER/BYRNES/COA "Endless Garbage" (CASTLE FACE) CF135 CD/LP TES/DOLAS/CAUL March 19 street date. L7 "Wargasm: The (HEAR NO EVIL) HNECD150T CD Years 1992-1997 (3CD)" March 26 street date. Having emerged from LA's art punk scene, L7's music was a mixture of , and , but they are arguably most synonymous with the movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s. Releasing their self-titled debut on Epitaph Records, their grunge credentials were cemented by the release of "Smell The Magic" on Sub Pop. Signing to Slash Records, they released their major label debut "Bricks Are Heavy" in 1992, produced by Butch Vig. Along with that classic album, this collection includes 1994's "Hungry For Stink" and 1997's "The Beauty Process: Triple Platinum". Packed with bonus tracks, artwork and memorabilia, "Wargasm: The Slash Years 1992-1997" includes a new, extensive liner note based on interviews with the band. MAJOR MURPHY "Access" (WINSPEAR) WSP033 LP/CD MAJOR MURPHY "Access (transparent blue)" (WINSPEAR) WSP033LPC1 LP April 2 street date. "Access", the second album by Major Murphy, is an album born out of being at a crossroads. It's also, without question, an album to blast at an unruly volume to soundtrack an experience one might have standing at that crossroads. It's remarkably cohesive - a striking relic in an age where ardent and true "album- making" is a fading art form - full of heavy rock 'n' roll sounds and textured atmospheres fused with pro-idea, hyper- creative jittery warmth. In nine songs, it somehow takes a listener backwards and forwards at once, reckoning with intrinsic anxieties while conceptualizing a fantastical and vibrant happening, soothing in its familiar, occasionally childlike tone. MENDOZA LINE "We're All In This (BAR NONE) BRN111 LP April 2 street date. On the 20th anniversary of the via Athens combo's 3rd album, The Mendoza Line's "We Are All In This Alone" LP is one of NPR's Best Reissues of the Year! Featuring a wildly oscillating mood storm of lo-fi rockers, countrified folk-jams and electronic noise, it's the sound of a gifted group of young 20- somethings skating around the outside edges of sanity - the Mekons drinking all night with Fleetwood Mac. "We're All In This Alone" was a breakthrough for the band, receiving wide acclaim in press outlets like Pitchfork, the Village Voice and Spin, and set the template for a run of albums and shows that is the stuff indie rock legends are made of. NERVOUS SS/RAT "Skopje Vs Sheffield" (LA VIDA ES UN MUS231 LP CAGE March 26 street date. Nervous SS and Rat Cage clash head to head on this 12 song barrage of hell for leather punk rock. The Nervous SS side (Skopje) undoubtedly wears a Totalitär influence on its sleeve, but combine that sweet sound with a complete powerhouse vocal bombardment that sets Nervous SS a cut above the rest. Flip to the Rat Cage side (Sheffield) for a rapid attack of Scandi riffs with the relentless urgency we've grown to know and love from the band. The side ends with a U.K. Subs cover, clearly displaying Rat Cage's classic British Punk influence. With Master dials set firmly to "destroy mode", this record will be your saviour in these dark times. Crank it. RAWFRUCHT "Rawfrucht" (SUB ROSA) SR504LP LP April 9 street date. Rawfrücht 's classic 1996 album, available for the first time on vinyl. Recorded in late 1996 and released in early 1997, this first album from the power trio Rawfrücht (two plus percussions), defies and questions the definition of genres, eras and musical movements. Ranging from minimal meditative dronish soundscapes, perfect for introspective journeys, to more "groovy" moments, from to free rock-but-not- post rock unstable patterns -- sometimes even within a single track -- this album is a ride on undefined roads, no maps allowed, just instinct and the energy to always go further and deeper into charting new sonic territories. After the release of this first untitled album, names like those of Marc Ribot , , or King Crimson were frequently associated to it. But this doesn't really define what this album, released for the first time on LP, really is about. Two guitars and drums. Swell Maps meet Parliament , shades of Hendrix . Can -erisms catching up with the ramblings of Gastr Del Sol . Secret and reserved side in the best tradition of the Chicago School: Tortoise , Rome etc. Rawfrücht was a powerful trio from Brussels, based on two guitars: Hugues Warin and Teuk Henri ( Sharko , Juniper Boots ), and a drum: Thomas Van Cottom ( Cabane , Venus ). SEX TIDE "Ohio" (FEEDING TUBE) FTR536LP LP March 19 street date. Proud Buckeyes, Sex Tide, release Ohio, the first album they've recorded with a full quartet line-up. Bassist Phillip Park and saxophonist Ryan Mcauley join the core duo (drummer/vocalist Aurelie Celine and guitarist Chris Corbin) to create a new fat-ass sound that continually conjures up visions of the 1970 Stooges. Relentless pounding, reckless vocals, unhinged guitar, blasted saxophone lines, and thick bass lines.

"From The Graveyard" is the second full length of the Occult Doom band 1782. In this album there is a leap in quality as the production is much better than the previous releases. Eight tracks and 43 minutes of pure dark Doom, with slow and powerful riffs, and heavy and massive drumming. After the recording of "Doom Sessions Vol.2", the band immediately enters the studio and records the heaviest tracks they have done so far, and they have done it while maintaining that catchy state they have always had. Here too there are featurings, Sechi on organ (Hammond in "1782" and "Celestial Voices" in the debut album) and Alfredo Carboni's Synth. As in the eponymous debut album, the artwork was done by the mighty SSCVLT. "From The Graveyard" was recorded, mixed and mastered in November 2020 by Alfredo Carboni at "RKS Studios" in Ossi, Sardinia (Italy). ALMIGHTY "Welcome To Defiance (HEAR NO EVIL) HNEBOX146 CD (7CD): The Complete Recordings 1" March 26 street date. Scottish school friends Stump Monroe (drums), Floyd London (bass) and Ricky Warwick (guitar, vocals) formed The Almighty with guitarist Tantrum in 1988. After recording three LPs of hard-hitting rock and metal for Polydor Records between 1989 and 1993, The Almighty signed to in 1994. Shifting to a sound more informed by the punk that had initially inspired them, they released "Crank". "Just Add Life" followed, after which The Almighty decided to call it a day. Reforming in 2000 around a line-up of Ricky, Stump and Floyd, they were joined by guitarist Nick Parsons. Sanctuary Records released the self-titled "The Almighty" which was swiftly followed by "Psycho-Narco" (2001). Those albums are joined in this collection by the 1995 live recording "Crank and Deceit: Live in Japan", a 12 track CD with single b-sides and remixes, and a disc of live b-sides and sessions. In its infancy, bass player Garrett Garlington and guitar player Dillon Prentice, together in Garrett’s kitchen, mixed heavy and fuzzy harmonies with crushing riffs. Jeremy Grobsmith, a Colorado Springs metal veteran (The Great Redneck Hope, Matterhorn and Worry) had recently moved to The Queen City, befriended the guys and was quickly asked to join. His hard-hitting and eclectic drum style rounded out the Cosmic Reaper sound and the band was born. DISTRICT 97 "Screenplay (2CD)" (MINDSCAN) D97005CD CD March 26 street date. DUST CODA "Mojo Skyline" (EARACHE) MOSH640 CD/LP March 26 street date. Where will take us next? Thundering into the New Wave Of scene with enticingly unforgettable riffs, gravel-soaked vocal soul and richly rugged groove, London-based band The Dust Coda have been turning heads since their 2017 self-titled debut album. Sleek yet hard-hitting roc 'n' roll rooted in blues soul, The Dust Coda clutch the echoes of rock 'n' roll's most beloved household names, from the pure, raw poetry of Led Zeppelin to the nasty muscle of Guns 'N Roses, and bring them kicking and screaming into the 21st century. On the cusp of lighting a new beacon along the trail of the rock revolution that modern music has observed over the past decade, The Dust Coda are continuing the momentum founded in Earache Records' latest roster of British rock flag-bearers (The Temperance Movement, Massive Wagons, Those Damn Crows). This project brings together the most talented group of ltalian metal to deliver a creative powerhouse album. The ideas of , producer and guitarist Cristiano Filippini have developed into a real spectacle, sure to win over fans of the genre in no time. Even though the genre is often called kitschy, "The Force Within" is anything but that. The production is superb, the compositions elaborated down to the smallest detail. The melodies are catchy and the vocals with the expressive voice are brilliant. The guitar work is simply awesome. The album shows a band with great technical prowess and a versatility of switching between voluminous and razor sharp, delivering songs which take you on a great musical journey. FUOCO FATUO "Obsidian Katabasis" (PROFOUND PFL254 CD FUOCO FATUO "Obsidian Katabasis (PROFOUND PFL254LP LP (2LP)" April 2 street date. With their latest opus "Obsidian Katabasis", Italian doom metal cult Fuoco Fatuo have implemented their most towering, suffocating, darkest and most abstract work yet. Following up their massive 2017 release "Backwater", which saw the band morph into a more monstrous entity by heightening their doom metal paradigm into more funeral-like realms where their sound became more amalgamous with the likes of such luminaries as Disembowelment, Tyranny, and Esoteric, "Obsidian Katabasis" sees Fuoco Fatuo venture even further into the otherworldly obscure undiscovered dimension. Elements of a dreadful nature which find cohesion for a rich and thick sound that manifests into a visionary descent though multi-layered guitars, skullcrushing low tuned chords and sepulchral tremolos filtered through analog sounds for wider landscapes marred with obsessive drumming and infernal growls. GETTER, JANE "Anomalia" (ANTENNA) EANTCD1089 CD PREMONITION March 26 street date. Jane Getter Premonition has carved out a niche at the intersection of , rock, metal, and singer- styles with Getter's masterful playing and complex and dynamic compositions. Citing musical influences such as Mahavishnu Orchestra, King Crimson, Porcupine Tree, Jeff Beck, Allan Holdsworth, and Wes Montgomery, Jane has played with many luminaries in the worlds of jazz and rock and formed her band Jane Getter Premonition to present her sophisticated compositions on record and on stage. Assembling musicians Adam Holzman ( band, Miles Davis), Alex Skolnick (Testament), Chad Wackerman (), plus Mark Egan, Gene Lake, Stu Hamm, special guests Vernon Reid and singers Randy McStine and Chanda Rule, the album "Anomalia" is the stunning result of a series of magical recording sessions and is her finest work to date. HOUND "I Know My Enemies" (METALVILLE) MV0273 CD HOUND "I Know My Enemies" (METALVILLE) MV0273V LP March 26 street date. Disguised in a sheepskin coat, Hound formed in 2014 to breathe new life into the sound of old-school hard rock. But the sheep was quickly unmasked as a four-piece monster, which from then on gained a reputation in the European club scene as a wild and extraordinary live act. Their new album "I Know My Enemies" is the catchiest and at the same time most versatile work of the band so far. Classic hard rock combined with funky, bluesy, punky and psychedelic elements. The predecessor "Settle Your Scores" (2018) already enthused the fans as well as the international press, which celebrated the album as a "seamless masterpiece" in equal measure. The new songs come across as both more mature and more playful. Hound tell enigmatic, dark and at the same time hopeful stories. And every single track just bubbles with devotion and appetite. MEMORIES OF OLD "The Zeramin Game" (LIMB) LMP205512 CD April 2 street date. iA certain Billy Jeffs discovered a passion for Epic Symphonic Power Metal and started working on an album in 2017. Three years later, with his new band Memories of Old, he now presents "The Zeramin Game", an album that impressively reflects the entire spectrum of this genre. MINOTAURUS "Victims Of The Underworld” (LIMB) LMP205522 CD April 2 street date. Minotaurus, active since 1994, quickly established in the scene thanks to their distinctive mixture of folk music and metal. Their sixth album,"Victims Of The Underworld" was recorded in collaboration with producer Rolf Munkes at his Empire Studios, and is a work of maturity and depth. The eleven songs seem to have been cast from a single multifaceted mold. Every note displays conviction and energy that the band has applied when recording such a powerful album. Although the Folk components have obviously been given a lesser role, the new Minotaurus tracks sound like familiar friends. The consistently present melodies cast an immediate cast a spell over the listener and warm themselves into the ear and the memory. "From Enslavement To (EARACHE) MOSH008CDFD CD Obliteration (FDR audio)" March 12 street date. Full Dynamic Range Audio edition of Napalm Death's classic, originally released in 1988. QUILL "Earthrise" (METALVILLE) MV0271 CD QUILL "Earthrise" (METALVILLE) MV0271V LP March 26 street date. The ninth studio album from the Swedish hard rock institution. With a sound based on a wide range of influences, The Quill have released one quality album after another since their debut in 1995. The dynamic interplay between original vocalist Magnus Ekwall, drummer Jolle Atlagic (, Electric Boys, Firebird), guitarist Christian Carlsson and bassist Roger Nilsson (Spiritual Beggars, Firebird) creates The Quill's unique, deep 70s heavy rock. No frills, just real rock at full throttle! The new songs tell stories of alienation set in the confines of space and time. Perhaps not a surprising theme given the state of the world today. But it's also a theme that runs through the entire history of mankind so far. Packed with catchy riffs, pounding bass lines and a fantastic frontman, this album will once again delight all fans of honest hard rock. ANDERSON, JON "Olias Of Sunhollow (ESOTERIC) QECLEC22748 CD (2CD expanded edition)" March 26 street date. The album saw Jon perform the music entirely alone, teaching himself to play keyboards and acknowledging the influence of such legendary musicians as , and on his work. This edition fully restores the stunning original artwork and also features a booklet with a new essay and exclusive interview with Jon Anderson. However, this expanded edition of "Olias of Sunhillow" features a DVD featuring a high resolution 96 kHz/24-bit remaster of the stereo mix and also includes a high resolution 5.1 Surround Sound up-mix derived from the original stereo master tapes as an additional feature. Housed in a striking, colourful sleeve, "Voyage" was a departure for Bennett, serving up infectious, cosmic disco/jazz/funk with a nod towards his earlier, post-Shadows funky library work. Released with Brian's blessing and overseen by his /composer son Warren, this 2- CD edition of "Voyage" boasts the addition of previously unissued working mixes of the album, plus the rare 7" edits from the single ‘Pendulum Force’. Instantly infamous for being the first to use the words "Ave Sathanas" on a record, Coven was boycotted. Not only this but their debut album from 1969 kicks off with a song called '.' The bass player's name was Oz Osborne, who can be seen on the album's back cover making the first documented . The band’s original ‘Gon'na Ride’ can hold comparisons with their outstanding takes on Hendrix and Cream’s classics. What an amazing record this is. SPIRIT "Son Of America (3CD (ESOTERIC) ECLEC32755 CD expanded edition)" March 26 street date. Remastered and expanded 3CD digipack edition of the archive release "Son Of America" by Spirit. First issued in 2005, the set originally featured a collection of previously unreleased songs, demos and instrumentals recorded between 1983 and Randy 's final recording session in late 1996, along with unreleased and alternative takes from the "California Blues" and "Cosmic Smile" albums. The latest release in Esoteric Recordings' series of releases from the Spirit and Randy California archives, this edition has been expanded to include an additional CD of an unreleased live performance for the radio station KPFM-FM in California, which includes fascinating dialogue and renditions of classic Spirit tracks such as "Nature's Way", "1984", "Fresh Garbage", "Mr. Skin", "Elijah", "I Got A Line On You", and "Animal Zoo". STEWART, AL "Year Of The Cat (2CD (ESOTERIC) QECLEC22725 CD expanded edition)" STEWART, AL "Year Of The Cat (ESOTERIC) QECLEC42724 CD (3CD+DVD deluxe edition)" March 26 street date. Recorded in the early months of 1976, "Year Of The Cat" was the seventh album by Al Stewart and was the second album on which he collaborated with the celebrated producer Alan Parsons. The hit title track carried the album into the US Billboard Top Five. This 2 disc edition of this special album has been newly remastered for the very first time from the original first-generation master tapes by Parsons and also includes nine live tracks recorded at the Paramount Theater, Seattle in October 1976 and a new mix of the track "Belsize Blues", recorded at Abbey Road Studios in September 1975. The deluxe edition includes that in its entirety and also features Parsons' stunning new 5.1 Surround sound mix from the original multi-track tapes. T2 "It'll All Work Out In (ESOTERIC) ECLEC32753 CD Boomland (3CD expanded edition" March 26 street date. Formed in 1970, T2 officially released one classic studio album during their short career, "It'll All Work Out in Boomland", issued by in July 1970. Featuring only four tracks, the album's highlights included "No More White Horses", perhaps the piece-de-resistance of the album, an amazingly powerful song with a wonderful horn arrangement, building to a powerful feedback-laden climax and the twenty-minute long "Morning". Issues with their record company, combined with a general dissatisfaction, led to guitarist Keith Cross departing the band after the trio had recorded a series of excellent tracks for a potential second album that failed to materialise after the band were dropped by Decca. By 1971 Peter Dunton formed a new line-up of the band, which performed on the UK concert circuit and also recorded a series of fine tracks in the search of a new recording contract. Alas, by the end of 1972 T2 disbanded. This edition of their classic album has been newly remastered from the original Decca master tapes and has been expanded by a further two CDs featuring their later recordings made in 1970 and 1971-1972.

BRAINSTORY "Seasons/Bye Bye" (BIG CROWN) BC1117 7" February 26 street date. Brainstory is back with a pairing of tunes that the world's top sommelier couldn’t hold a candle to. This gorgeous two-sider features the two vocal songs from their otherwise instrumental forthcoming EP, "Ripe". "Seasons" showcases Brainstory's sunny California soul and mixes in a touch of Roy Ayers east coast energy. The result is an infectious and uplifting tune penned at the beginning of quarantine with the hope of finding a brightside in the trouble the world is facing. "Bye Bye", is another stone cold B side ballad from the group that gave us "Dead End". The Darling Dears of Rialto have recorded what is sure to become another staple in sweet soul sets around the globe. But, in true Brainstory fashion this tune is uniquely theirs. Elements of psych, hip hop and jazz distance it from their soul-loving peers. CHA WA "My People" (SINGLE LOCK) SL042 CD April 2 street date. The future of New Orleans music is Cha Wa, a Mardi Gras Indian funk band that takes the music of the streets into the 21st century, with guests like Alvin Youngblood Hart and production from Galactic's Ben Ellman. On "My People", the band tries to "take the influence of Monk and Bo and Willie Tee [from the original Wild Magnolias] back in the day, when they were interpreting the music of their time - the deep funk, disco, Afrobeat and tinges of ," says drummer and bandleader Joe Gelini. "And we're also trying to interpret and write new music that we're inspired to play that's relevant to our generation, and our current social environment." EGAN, NICKY "Back To You" (TRANSISTOR TRS020 7" March 19 street date. In between steadily touring as a side woman for psych-soul LA staple, Chicano Batman, Nicky Egan has been stealthily plugging away with her New York based producer and Dap-Kings guitarist Joe Crispiano to complete her forthcoming LP "This Life". Her debut 7" single, ‘Back To You’ is a fresh take on that classic 1970s soul cruiser sound, that tells the tale of transience, growth and acceptance. The B-side "Run Run" is a cinematic soul Bonnie and Clyde-esque portrait that kicks off with epic fuzz guitar lines followed by Egan's sultry vocals. HOLCOLM, MANUEL B. "I Stayed Away Too Long/Kick Out (instru..)” (UBIQUITY) LH7096 7" March 19 street date. Holcolm says the song, released in 1969, is about returning home from Vietnam and finding your lady couldn’t wait for you! AFROSOUND "La De Los Murlos” (VAMPI SOUL) VAMPI231 LP April 9 street. Afrosound’s mission was to emulate the guitar-heavy tropical sounds emanating from Perú and Ecuador at the time. To add to the vibe, there were plenty of whacky improvised vocal asides (called ‘inspiraciones’), plus custom fuzz, wah-wah, flange and echo effects boxes for the guitar and keyboards. A barrage of odd sounding synths, drum machines and other electronic flourishes were also sprinkled in to spice up the proceedings. The dozen tracks on Afrosound’s debut long play make for a surprisingly diverse palette from which these Colombian musicians painted their daring portrait of Peruvian , returning the favor in bold colors that still resonate almost 50 years later. This lovingly restored reissue features the artwork for the Peruvian edition, which was licensed and issued by Lima’s El Virrey label in 1974. ELLIS, CARWYN & RIO 18 "Mas" (BANANA AND B&L006CD CD ELLIS, CARWYN & RIO 18 "Mas" (BANANA AND B&L006LP LP April 16 street date. Never one to sit still, Carwyn Ellis is continuing his voyage into Latin Americana with the release of his second album with Rio 18, ‘Mas’. Like it’s predecessor, the acclaimed ‘Joia!’, this album is a collection of songs sung in Welsh combined with distinct pop and South American flavours drawn from Bossa Nova, Cumbia, Samba and Tropicalismo styles, recorded in Rio de Janeiro, Caernarfon and London. Mas feels strangely right for our times: an album whose title means several things, as befits its global outlook. Mas means “out” in Welsh, “more” in Spanish, and “but” in Portuguese: these meanings filling that single syllable with promise, potential, but also the subtle edge of a warning. It’s a mood that fits the more political tenor of Rio 18’s second turn around the world, as Carwyn and his friends explore some substantial subjects: the drowning of villages, climate change, migration and the rise of megacities. They do so not in sober, serious settings, but beautiful, uplifting songs. Other tracks also celebrate the vivid pleasures of love, nature and our essential humanity. Mas is a record of beautiful songs that says, wait, listen, delight, come together, then act. We owe it to ourselves, to each other, to our beautiful world. LA PESADA "Tomate Y Alandette" (VAMPI SOUL) VAMPI233 LP April 9 street date. This 1978 album is a “one off” by an all-star ensemble of musicians and singers, many of whom had played with Fruko y sus Tesos and other Colombian orchestras previously. There is cumbia, salsa, , , descarga and even calypso, including ‘Cumbia y tambó (En la lluvia)’ which has been an international dance floor staple for many years; there’s nothing like it to get the party started! One of the best tropical records released by Codiscos that receives its first-time reissue here in glorious remastered sound. LITO BARRIENTOS Y "Cumbia En Do Menor / (VAMPI SOUL) VAMPI45078 7" SU ORQ. / LO Patricia" April 9 street date. We are happy to present here two stunning party tunes from Central-American artists Lito Barrientos y Su Orquesta (from El Salvador) and Los Robbins (Honduras) that will please the collectors as much as those into the Jamaican genres. Barrientos massive hit from 1965 ‘Cumbia en Do Menor’ could have resulted of a dream meeting between Glenn Miller and The Skatalites at the Discos Fuentes studios in Colombia, recalling Jamaican sounds almost as much as big-band jazz while keeping all the right ingredients of its Latin essence. Los Robbins’ ‘Patricia’ is an accomplished rock steady number recorded in Honduras under the influence of the Jamaican sounds that were making it into the country via the neighboring . Almost impossible to find in its original issue, its is reissued here on a 7” single for the first time. A new nice addition to our ‘Tropical 45s series’.

The Green Child is the once long-distance, now based in the same house recording project of Raven Mahon (furniture maker and former member of Grass Widow) and Mikey Young (recording engineer and band member of Total Control, Eddy Current Suppression Ring). Broadly retro-futuristic in scope, verdant acres of lushly evocative and vintage drum machines underpin most of The Green Child's upbeat yet decidedly uncanny songs. Stereolab-esque pop with an interesting array of musical cues from New Musik via Sade to Hot Chocolate. Available on CD for the first time. HYENA KILL "A Disconnect (neon pink (APF RECORDS) APF040 LP with blue splatter)" HYENA KILL "A Disconnect" (APF RECORDS) APF040A CD March 26 street date. The Hyena Kill's new album "A Disconnect" is a bleak, intense masterpiece that attempts to find reconciliation of personal trauma and pain, creating a distinctive area where spaciousness can be heavy and contact is always uncomfortable. Steven Dobbs (vocals/guitar) explains: "the bulk of material was written during a very low point in my life, and as a result this album fell into place with a sense of claustrophobia and finality, of being trapped in a hospital bed, linked up to life support, unable to regain your own agency and escape the situation you find yourself in. These are lyrics that deal with and focus on uncomfortable subjects that were dominating my life at the time of writing". The result is an album that presents a dichotomy of softness/harshness with an earnestness that never relents over the course of ten tracks, but becomes transformative with repeated listens. Elements of , Nirvana and Chelsea Wolfe combine on a dynamic LP that that terrifies, haunts and inspires all at once. JOSEPHINE & "Stocky Tunes" (DIG! DIG014 LP HERSHGUY March 19 street date. In this time of social-distancing and rethinking old norms, Josephine and Hershguy put their heads together (remotely) to create "Stocky Tunes", a celebratory rock 'n' ’roll smorgasbord of far-reaching sounds and sonic bedlam. The glam-punk crunch and hard-rock wizardry of the pairs' respective erstwhile projects (Dirty Fences, Brower, and previously Velveteen Rabbit) are all in play, with added forays into and post punk (á la Roxy Music, Sparks, The Quick, , Gang of Four, et al.). Doubling down on the adventurous and genre- shirking spirit of their solo efforts, "Stocky Tunes" is as iconic as it is peerless. KING, GG "Remain Intact" (TOTAL PUNK) TPR117 LP March 5 street date. Organi 's Parlez-vous Français? is a woozy, tripping, soothing sojourn: DIY , hazy psychedelia, blurred-but-steady beats dripping down the golden boulevard, complete with mystical chants, a dash of half-remembered Franglais that goes down like some vintage eau-de-vie. SHARKEY, JOHN III "Shoot Out The Cameras" (12XU) 12XU130 LP March 5 street date. Written and recorded amidst the devastating bushfires which ravaged his adopted hometown of Canberra, just before the wave of pandemic broke, "Shoot Out The Cameras" reveals John Sharkey III to be a master craftsman; honing in on the existential dread of living in a burning world, and the imperative to find beauty in what remains. Perhaps best known as the creative force behind Clockcleaner, Sharkey's credentials include Cleveland's 9 Shocks Terror and more recently, literate rock explorations as Puerto Rico Flowers and Dark Blue., the latter having released a pair of 12XU full-lengths. As if to echo the craters of "before" and "after" that apocalyptic events leave in our collective consciousness, the songs arranged themselves into a cinematic narrative arc, from the foreboding of disaster (Side A) through its aftermath (Side B). The background horrors of totalitarianism, paranoia and surveillance also stalk the album - the cameras of the title inspired by Canberra's omnipresent CCTV and speed cameras - just to add to the unmistakable sense of . Features guest appearances from Mary Lattimore and Duncan Lowe. "Dig That Groove Baby (+poster)” (RADIATION) RRS140 LP March 26 street date. Hailing from in England’s industrial northeast, the Toy Dolls infused their take on punk with ample doses of working-class humour, the three-chord format a launching pad for witty originals and clever cover tunes. 1983 debut Dig That Groove Baby captures the group at their finest, their twisted rendition of kiddies tune “Nellie The Elephant” topping the indie charts; the title track is an infectious singalong, while “Spiders In The Dressing Room” and “Glenda And The Test Tube Baby” are more irreverent tongue in cheek, all delivered in the peculiar androgynous accent of frontman Michael “Olga” Algar. Essential! TOY DOLLS "Bare Faced Cheek (+poster)” (RADIATION) RRS141 LP March 26 street date. By the time Toy Dolls issued Bare Faced Cheek as the inaugural LP of their own Nit Records label, bassist Flip had been replaced by Dean Robson and drummer Happy Bob by Martin Yule, with Olga still the vocal focal point. “Yul Brynner Was A ” is the best of the bunch, “Neville Is A Nerd” and “Quick To Quit The Quentin” are typical Toy Dolls punk piss-takes, and there are digs at a hotel and a local launderette too. Everything is delivered in lightning-fast bursts of energy, poking fun at all and sundry, the Toy Dolls punk way. TOY DOLLS "Ten Years Of Toys (+poster)” (RADIATION) RRS142 LP March 26 street date. To celebrate their first decade of existence, Sunderland’s ironic punk trio, Toy Dolls, issued retrospective Ten Years Of Toys, but rather than using the standard-issue “Greatest Hits” formula, the group chose to re-cut nuggets from their career so far, using the then-current line-up of frontman Olga, bassist Dean Robson and drummer Martin Yule. Thus, tracks like “Dougy Giro,” “Fiery Jack” and “Glenda And The Test Tube Baby” are given new leases of life with a brighter, fuller sound and the inclusion of hard-to-find tracks such as “I’ve Got Asthma” and “Tommy Kowey’s Car” add to the appeal. Released in February 1971 on Pye Records’ label Dawn, First Utterance was a darkly stunning masterpiece by COMUS, a group who arguably defy being classified in any genre. Too dark, loud and eccentric to be folk, but too unconventional to be classified as a rock band, the influence of Comus’ work extended far beyond their short life Featuring a line-up of Glen Goring (6-string Acoustic Guitar, 12 string Acoustic Guitar, Slide & Electric Guitar, Hand Drums & Vocals), Andy Hellaby (Bass), Colin Pearson (Violin & Viola), Roger Wooton (Acoustic Guitar, Lead Vocals), Rob Young (Flute, Oboe & Hand Drums) and Bobbie Watson (Vocals, Percussion), COMUS were regular performers at ’s Arts Lab in Beckenham, Kent in 1969. Earning a reputation on the UK college and university live music circuit, COMUS signed to Dawn Records in 1970, releasing the album “First Utterance” and the ‘Diana’ maxi single in 1971 before falling apart. Their 1971 album later attained a significant and is regarded as one of the most interesting and influential releases on the Dawn label COS / DANIEL SCHELL "Mein Maschine Ist (FINDERS FKSP019EP 7" & DICK ANN Schon/The ff BOOM" April 2 street date. From the same continental cosmic egg that hatched Marc Moulin , Marc Hollander , and Belgian synth fusion combo Placebo comes your favorite new Franco-Flemmish pop discovery. COS , where have you been all my life? Compact in name but wide-eyed in nature, it's understandable how the '70s band known simply as COS has remained trapped in the tight cracks between pop stardom and prog indulgence where other like- minded names like CAN , Zao , Neu! , and Egg have managed to squeeze into gaps of your record collection. In presenting one of the band's most infectious and potentially crossover legible tracks on this exclusive user-friendly 45, COS mastermind Daniel Schell not only breaks an unlikely new format for this lesser-known femme-fronted, electro/jazz fusion/prog pop opera/would-be disco cinematic six-piece but also sends a sonic telegram to a new generation of futurist pop aficionados ready to explore the deep realms of his band's dense, expansive and consistently rewarding catalogue. Placing the microscope over the central motif of the band's onomatopoeic 1978 triptych known as Mein Maschine Ist Schön ( My Machine Is Beautiful ) this very rare proposed single edit from the group's third album combines the type of warm, brooding, discoid funk and nymphish Morse code vocals that unite fans of Stereolab , , Jan Hammer , Emerald Web , and Ursula Dudziak. "Creation Never Sleeps, Creation Never Dies: The Willie Dunn Anthology" highlights the songs, poetry, and stories of an artist as every bit essential as Gordon Lightfoot, Leonard Cohen, Buffy Sainte- Marie, Bob Dylan, and Neil Young, but without the industry backing required to become a mainstream pop culture household name. Though artistically and creatively a peer, Willie Dunn was also a grassroots activist and direct action radical with no interest in the showbiz game, yet whose art, poetry and awareness has continued to inspire, influence, and inform generations without widespread commercial acclaim. Musically, the collection contains songs previously commercially unavailable from the vaults of the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) and CBC, including the quintessential 1968 NFB recording of "The Ballad of Crowfoot", plus a career spanning overview of Willie's songbook. Also included in the package are letters from the Dunn family, a poem by Alanis Obomsawin (OC), poetry transcriptions, rarely seen archival images, art contributions from Christi Belcourt and Alanna Edwards, and graphic design/typography by Chris Gergley (NNA series). FLOWER TRAVELLIN' "Satori" (LIFE GOES ON) LIFE001 LP BAND April 2 street date. Can you pick up a better iconic band than Japanese Flower Travellin’ Band? Have a look at Julian Cope Japrocksampler cover with the band bare naked wildly ridin’ on their wheels. Is any description more appropriate? A sense of freedom has always enhanced their music, a heavy rock manifesto clearly informed by british stalwarts. Their second album Satori has been released on Atlantic Japan in 1971 and still is a masterpiece on its own. The band was made up of Joe Yamanaka (vocals) – possibly an eastern version of Rob Tyner MC5 - Hideki Ishima (guitars), Jun Kobayashi (bass) and George Wada (drums). By the end of 1970, they had relocated to Toronto, Canada and lived there until March of 1972. In April 1973, the band split up, but they reunited in January 2008 with all original members joined by Nobuhiko. GENTRY, BOBBIE "Fancy" (PLEASURE PFM114 LP March 26 street date. Released in 1970 Fancy is the sixth studio album by American singer-songwriter Bobbie Gentry. A dense and inspired selection of songs, mostly covers, as vivid portraits of different female characters in American culture. The album includes highly personal renditions of songs such as Bacharach's "I'll Never Fall In Love Again", Leon Russel's "Delta Man", James Taylor's "Something In The Way He Moves" and Laura Nyro's "Wedding Bell Blues". A major statement from a great artist and a true American classic. KALEIDOSCOPE/FAIR "Sky Children: The Best (BEYOND BB114 CD FIELD PARLOUR Of Kaleidoscope & Fairfield P" March 19 street date. First US compilation for this much beloved, yet often overlooked, UK group capturing highlights from their entire recorded legacy. Emerging from the British 1967 Psychedelic scene, Kaleidoscope released two fine albums ("Tangerine Dream", "Faintly Blowing") and several non-LP singles with Fontana before switching to Vertigo and evolving into the more folky and progressive Fairfield Parlour in 1970. This newly remastered collection includes their hit "Bordeaux Rosé" plus key album cuts like "The Sky Children", "Snapdragon" and the tour-de-phase "Music". Also included is an early demo from 1964 when these four men were a driving beat combo known as the Sidekicks. The set also includes a DVD of previously unreleased/ unbroadcast footage from French and German TV archives in addition to video from the band's memorable final performance in London, 2017. PENN, DAN "Do Right Man" (MUSIC ON CD) MOCCD14048 CD April 2 street date. PEOPLE "Ceremony-Buddha Meet Rock” (LIFE GOES ON) LIFE002LP LP April 2 street date. A monster on its own ‘Ceremony-Buddha Meet Rock’ still is one of the most enigmatic record coming out of the early seventies Japanese underground. Yusuke Hoguchi and Naoki Tachikawa are the main conspirators here. The album is clearly informed by the flower power counterculture, is full-on mysticism – with Buddha chants all over the place – and trippy guitar playing make room for an otherwordly experience. The album opens with a rendition of 'Holy Thursday' lifted from David Axelrod masterpiece ‘Song of Innocence’ and sets the mood for a series of ancestral musical performance. Released on Teichiku Records in 1971 this album still stands as one of the most original piece of art coming from the eastern side. SHEPHERD, KENNY "Live! In Chicago" (MUSIC ON CD) MOCCD14050 CD WAYNE April 2 street date. ULMER, JAMES BLOOD "Black Rock" (MUSIC ON CD) MOCCD14019 CD March 26 street date. WALKER, SCOTT "The Moviegoer" (PLEASURE PFM113 LP March 26 street date. Produced in summer 1972 and released in autumn of the same year by Phillips Records, this is one of the most obscure and controversial albums in Scott Walker's discography. The album was poorly received by critics and if we exclude a 1975 reissue on Contour Label, it has since been deleted till this very welcomed re release. The Moviegoer is a declared journey through Pop arrangements of iconic film music themes. The album includes mainstream oriented version of classic themes like Nino Rota's love theme from the "Godfather", Lalo Schifrin's theme from "The Fox", 's theme from "Summer of 42" and Baez / Morricone's anthemic song from Sacco and Vanzetti. BASEMENT'S GLARE "Flesh Contagium" (DIGIT MOVIES) SPDM017 CD March 19 street date. Digitmovies presents on CD the original soundtrack from the film "Flesh Contagium". Music Composed by: Daniele Marinelli, Luca Maria Burocchi, Riccardo Adamo. Performed by: Basement's Glare. Directed by Lorenzo Lepori in 2020 and starring Pio Bisanti, Shiri Binder, Lorenzo Lepori. In a world devastated by epidemic, humans seek refuge outside the cities. Pursued by armed groups called "executors", the protagonists end up in an old fortress apparently abandoned: instead they will find something that goes beyond their worst nightmares. ABOUT BASEMENT’S GLARE : The project began shortly before the Covid-19 pandemic exploded. Following the restrictions caused by the imposed isolation, Basement's Glare have recorded and released their first single, Red Zone, which deals directly with the issue of social distancing and its consequences. Subsequently, the duo decided to complete the recordings of the eponymous EP as previously scheduled, working mostly remotely. Basement's Glare are composed by Riccardo Adamo and Daniele Marinelli as stable members, and by various session musicians. The collaboration turned out to be so fruitful and satisfying that the duo decided to cement it, opening musical horizons and making Basement's Glare an all-round musical project, with no limits of musical genre or intended use. FIDENCO, NICO "Tranquille Donne Di Campagna” (DIGIT MOVIES) DGST004 CD March 19 street date. We are releasing on CD, for the very first time in full edition, Nico Fidenco’s drama “Country lady” OST. Nico Fidenco (pseudonym of Domenico Colarossi), notorious singer and author of cult OSTs such as the Emanuelle series, has composed an evocative musical commentary directed by his all time collaborator Giacomo Dell’Orso, which reflects the struggle both internal and physical of the members of a family. This daily battle full of resentment and humiliations has the Po valley fogs on the background, wistfully described by a recurring theme with strings, very sweet and sad, where a feeling of extreme lonliness emerges. The author contrats the sweetness with dissonant tracks, which reflect the characters’ mood. He also alternates many fox-trots of that period. For this 60:00-minutes-long CD we used Recording Session’s stereo masters. FUSCO, GIOVANNI "I Cosacchi" (DIGIT MOVIES) DGST047 CD March 19 street date. We are releasing on CD, for the very first time in full edition, Giovanni Fusco’s “The Cossacks” OST. Giovanni Fusco (Sant'Agata de' Goti, October 10th, 1908 – Rome, June 1st, 1968) composed a symphonic commentary masterfully directed by Carlo Savina. The composer created a dramatic main theme alternated to russian dances, coral tracks, waltzes, polkas, quadrilles, battle musics and a moving love theme that often recurs in the soundtrack. We used mono master tapes of the session of that time, which allowed us to assemble a 73:23-minutes-long CD. Another CD dedicated to the great Giovanni Fusco, Michelangelo Antonioni’ s favorite musician. MORRICONE, ENNIO "La proprieta non e piu un (GOODFELLAS) GFOST003LP LP furto" Available now. He is aware of the illicit careers and rise to riches of many of his clients. He decide to start a new life: new clothes, new cars, new women. His "new look" begins discreetly, a few small robberies in supermarkets, progressing to more important fraud. MORRICONE, ENNIO "L'avventuriero (color)” (GOODFELLAS) GFOST006LP LP April 2 street date. Terence Young became a famous director for bringing the first James Bond movie Dr. NO to the screen in 1962. He directed two more James Bond films: FROM RUSSIA WITH LOVE (1963) and THUNDERBALL (1965). Young directed THE ROVER (L'AVVENTURIERO) in 1967. A costume drama after the 1923 novel by Joseph Conrad. The film was shot in and around Rome, Italy in late 1966. It is a colorful adventure set against the infamous Reign of Terror in the eighteenth century France, starring Anthony Quinn and Rita Hayworth, who danced together 26 years earlier in the film BLOOD AND SAND in 1941. Anthony Quinn plays the eighteenth century pirate and deserter Peirol, running for the French, who was seduced by an innocent girl named Arlette, played by Rosanna Schiaffino. There were high expectations, but the film was not a great success as hoped. However, the best thing about the film is the fantastic score. Ennio Morricone wrote a stunning main theme for the film that became a classic. The score is sometimes powerful and recalls the classical symphonic music at some points, but naturally it is completely original, written especially for the film. The score has it all, well conducted by Bruno Nicolaiand this cd is a jewel in the collection. In 1967 a soundtrack LP was released in Italy on the limited non-commercial RCA SP series.

If there's one word that keeps cropping up around Tensnake's sophomore album, it's change. Change musically. Change emotionally. Change in scenery. Named after the city that he, until recently, called home, L.A. introduces listeners to a different take on the German DJ and producer's sound whilst quenching Tensnake's thirst for progress and growth. It's this strong desire to keep moving forward that finds one of the most acclaimed house producers of the decade offering a different version of himself across the glittery, sprawling 14-track expanse that is L.A. It's an album committed to the power of Tensnake's beloved , which seeps through in album tracks such as "Automatic", his take on The Pointer Sisters' classic. In many ways, L.A. is a love letter, one that allowed him to pour his heart out to the city that inspired him, and that he's now left behind. This album is about Tensnake evolving, getting better. Not content to just produce house music for the rest of his life, he put a lot of effort, love, and energy into this record. And they're great songs. Songs that will find the right people.
