BOWERBIRDS "becalmyounglovers" (PSYCHIC PSY010 CD BOWERBIRDS "becalmyounglovers (teal)” (PSYCHIC PSY010LPC1 LP April 30 street date. "becalmyounglovers" is as much a return as it is a farewell. Phil Moore's first Bowerbirds album since 2012 is an artifact of transition, a domino effect of doors closing and Moore stumbling headfirst into the uncertainty of what comes after a life fundamentally changes. Like a polaroid slowly swimming into focus, "becalmyounglovers" reconciles the memories of yourself in relation to another person, and then what's unearthed when you're left to face your identity alone - and which one of those selves is true? Written and recorded mainly in an isolated cabin hand built by Moore and his ex-partner, out in Siler City, North Carolina, "becalmyounglovers" chronicles a long-term relationship's death rattle, inevitable breakup, and its immediate aftermath - and Moore's getting to understand himself better in the process. These songs don't trudge through upheaval - instead, they float, still sanguine and light in the face of plans gone awry. The Aliens are a Scottish band consisting of former Beta Band members Gordon Anderson (aka Lone Pigeon, lead vocals, guitar), John Maclean (keyboards, backing vocals) and Robin Jones (drums, backing vocals). Formed from the ashes of The Beta Band, The Aliens blazed a trail with two critically acclaimed LP's in the mid to late Noughties - hitting the UK official charts as well as Hollywood film & TV - before mysteriously vanishing from the Humanoid star system. Hot on the heels of marking their return with the surprising electronica- delia of Electronville The Aliens present their latest album-length EP and a return to something more familiar for their long time fans. The A-side on Back To Beyond entails the 10 minute drone rock disasterpiece Follow The Son, the melancholy instrumental sdlmnm strings and the bastard love child of two of their most popular songs in Roxbot. Side B features atmospheric instrumental tingler For Emma, a Robot Man disco mix appropriately titled Reboot Man and finishes with the longer, dirtier, rawer, inbred cousin of fan favourite Magic Man - Majic Man Prequel. Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue… Back To Beyond is like a wedding of The Aliens. After a dormant decade the mercurial Gordon Anderson AKA Lone Pigeon is on a crusade to release as many of his estimated 10,000 songs as Alienly possible and come to the rescue of the downward spiralling Humanoids of Planet Earth. While The Aliens continue work on their much anticipated new LP the good news is that there’s plenty to keep fans occupied in the meantime. DOYLE, WILLIAM "Great Spans Of Muddy (TOUGH LOVE) TLV138CD CD Time" DOYLE, WILLIAM "Great Spans Of Muddy (TOUGH LOVE) TLV138LP LP Time (white vinyl)" March 26 street date. It's nearly a decade since William Doyle handed a CD-R demo to the Quietus co-founder John Doran at a gig. Doran loved it so much he set up a label to release Doyle's debut EP (as East India Youth). Doyle's debut album, "Total Strife Forever", followed in 2014, as did a nomination for the Mercury Music Prize. A year later, he was signed to XL, touring the world and about to release his second album all by the age of 25. After self- releasing four ambient and instrumental albums, Doyle's third full-length record and the first under his own name "Your Wilderness Revisited" arrived to ecstatic reviews in 2019. Just over a year later, as he turns 30, Doyle is back with "Great Spans of Muddy Time". Born from accident but driven forward by instinct, the album was built from the remnants of a catastrophic hard-drive failure. With his work saved only to cassette tape, Doyle was forced to accept the recordings as they were - a sharp departure from his process on "Your Wilderness Revisited", which took four long years to craft toward perfection. Having emerged from LA's art punk scene, L7's music was a mixture of hard rock, alternative rock and punk rock, but they are arguably most synonymous with the grunge movement of the late 1980s and early 1990s.
