PROCEDURES FOR WIHS EQUITATION FINALS AT CAPITAL ONE ARENA: For more information and complete procedures visit https://www.wihs.org/wihs-equitation/

WIHS Prize List H October 22-27, 2019 H Capital One Arena H Washington, DC 47 Third Phase - The scores from the Hunter & Jumper Phases will be added together to determine the ten riders who will participate in the Third Phase. The combined score will determine the order of go, with the highest scoring rider competing last. In the event of a tie in determining the ten riders for the Third Phase, or the order for the Third Phase, the higher score in the Jumper Phase will break any ties. These ten riders will change horses. The order of change will be as follows; first and second place will switch, third and fourth place will switch, fifth and sixth place will switch, seventh and eighth place will switch, ninth and tenth place will switch. Once the riders have changed horses for the Third Phase and before the first rider in the Third Phase has entered the arena to compete, there will be a 3-minute period during which riders may work individually on the flat. Should any rider feel that the horse on which they will compete in the Third Phase is unsound to the extent it will impair the horse’s ability to perform the Third Phase, that rider must petition the panel of Judges(s) and Veterinarian(s) who will be available to assess the soundness of any questioned horse. The panel’s decision regarding the fitness of a questioned horse to compete will be final. Should a horse be declared unfit to compete in the Third Phase, the rider who qualified that horse will be eliminated from the Third Phase and automatically placed 10th. The Show Steward will then draw by lot 1 of the 8 remaining riders (not to include the rider who was to ride the eliminated horse in the Third Phase). The rider drawn will then change its switched mount with the horse qualified by the rider who was switched to the unfit horse. In the event that more than one horse is declared unfit to compete, this procedure will be repeated in each instance. In the case of multiple eliminated riders due to unsoundness, the combined score of the first two rounds of the Finals will determine their final placing.

Once the Third Phase begins only two Riders will be permitted in the schooling/ warm-up area at one time. The next Rider in the competition and the one that follows. There will be one oxer and one vertical. Each Rider will be permitted to jump a total of four fences. Riders in the Third Phase will negotiate the Jumper Phase course. There will be neither a starting tone nor a Time Allowed in the Third Phase. A score will be given by the judges in the Third Phase, but will not be announced until the conclusion of the class. All horses must compete in the same equipment (saddles excluded) as in the Second Phase. This includes, but is not limited to: bridle, bits, reins, boots. Any ties in the overall after the third phase will be broken by the designated tie breaking judges’ panel score in the third phase.

185 WIHS PONY EQUITATION FINALS Invitations will be extended to the top 25 junior riders who are eligible to compete based on their points accumulated at shows starting on or after September 1, 2019, through shows starting on or before August 31, 2019. WIHS Prize List H October 22-27, 2019 H Capital One Arena H Washington, DC 55 FEI CODE OF CONDUCT FOR THE WELFARE OF THE HORSE The Fédération Equestre International (FEI) expects all those involved in international equestrian sport to adhere to the FEI’s Code of Conduct and to acknowledge and accept that at all times the welfare of the horse must be paramount and must never be subordinated to competitive or commercial influences. At all stages during the preparation and training of competition horses, welfare must take precedence over all other demands. This includes good horse management, training methods, farriery and tack, and transportation. Horses and competitors must be fit, competent and in good health before they are allowed to compete. This encompasses medication use, surgical procedures that threaten welfare or safety, pregnancy in mares and the misuse of aids. Events must not prejudice horse welfare. This involves paying careful attention to the competition areas, ground surfaces, weather conditions, stabling, site safety and fitness of the horse for onward travel after the event. Every effort must be made to ensure that horses receive proper attention after they have competed and that they are treated humanely when their competition careers are over. This covers proper veterinary care, competition injuries, euthanasia and retirement. The FEI urges all involved with the sport to attain the highest levels of education in their areas of expertise.

The certificate shall include the name of the owner and address, destination, number of horses examined, the name, registration numbers(s), if any, tattoo, if any, sex, age, rectal temperature, color, and marking of each animal listed. WIHS Prize List H October 22-27, 2019 H Capital One Arena H Washington, DC 57 CUSTOMS FORMALITIES Before a horse can enter the United States, it must have an import permit, a health certificate from the country of origin (signed by a veterinarian), and a negative CEM culture taking within 30 days of import (for mares and stallions). If allowed into the country, all horses must be placed in federal quarantine at a USDA animal import center, which usually lasts two or three days. In the United States, there are four ports of entry for horses coming into this country—Los Angeles, CA; Newburg, NY; Miami, FL; and Honolulu, HI. Each horse brought into this country must pass through one of these USDA facilities. During that time, the horse will be tested and observed for clinical signs of illness resulting from “exotic” diseases such as dourine, glanders, piroplasmosis, or more common diseases such as influenza. After quarantine, the mares and stallions over 731 days of age (two years) which are new to our country must undergo CEM quarantine at a separate facility. National Federations holding an international event in their country should inform their national veterinary authority and their customs authority at least four weeks prior to the event. They should request every facility to assist the movement of horses/ponies accompanied by FEI passports and the necessary veterinary certification at frontier crossing points into and out of their countries. (Vet. Regs. Art. 1004.2) INSURANCE All owners and competitors are personally responsible for damages to third persons caused by themselves, their employees, their agents or their horses. They are therefore strongly advised to take out third-party insurance providing full coverage for participation in equestrian events at home and abroad, and to keep the policy up to date.

The Hollow Brook Wealth Management Show Jumping Hall of Fame Jumper Classic Series is designed to give amateur-owner and junior riders an opportu- nity to compete at higher levels and serves as a proving ground for many riders who aspire to someday represent the United States in international competition.

With classes at approximately 100 horse shows across the country, the Series hosts separate junior and amateur-owner divisions in two Conferences - East and West. Series standings are used to help determine junior and amatuer-owner entries for the National Horse Show and the Blenheim International Jumping Festival.

Series winners receive year-end awards, and the Series offers Year-End championship Finals for junior and amateur-owner riders at the National Horse Show and the Blenheim International Jumping Festival. www.ShowJumpingHallOfFame.net www.HollowBrookllc.com

EQUINE SUPPLEMENTS MADE FOR WINNING, NATURALLY

One of the major changes we’ve noticed with two mares on the Positude is their overall state of calm and well-being. The horses seem to feel healthy and happy, which benefits them not only in their daily routine, but also in their performance. McLain Ward

They like eating the Ulceraser, and we like that it’s all-natural. The horses seem to bloom when they’re on it, so we put the whole barn on it. We notice a change in their attitudes and their overall performance. Traci Brooks

I have five or six horses in my barn that show FEI, and it’s important for us that if we’re using something, it has to be FEI-safe. I have confidence in the the ingredients of the Equine Elixirs products. Kevin Babington

We’ve been using Ulceraser for over two years and we’ve really seen an improvement in our horses’ conditioning and coats, as well as their overall happiness to work around and to ride. They’re just happier horses. Scott Stewart Photos by Jump Media LLC and Irene Powlick for The Plaid Horse Plaid The for Powlick Irene and LLC Media Jump by Photos
