When their Dad, a Tech Sergeant in the U.S. Air Force, was home from duty, he entertained the boys with his guitar – and his love of the Beatles. “There was always music in our house. Whether it was background for dinner, up front for parties or required listening because of the release of a Beatlesrelated album, music was always the forefront of our family. I can remember my dad borrowing a friend’s Beatles chord book and meticulously copying it onto regular lined paper. I was in 2nd grade at the time, and I remember that I’d sit and watch him do this for hours. http://www.billymcguigan.com/billyandtheband 1/3 7/23/2015 Billy McGuigan » Billy & the Band The end result was, of course, that we could sing the magic that was on the Beatles records. In fact, one of my first musical memories was of my dad teaching my brother Ryan and I (Matthew was an infant at the time) to sing the high harmony lines on “She’s Leaving Home.” There we were, Ryan, age 5 and I, age 8 singing these high parts terribly, while my dad did his best Paul impersonation… I can still remember the smile on his face! Little did he know he was planting the seeds of a career in music!” What this upbringing did for Billy was instill a love of the songs that take him back to those days playing and singing with his Dad and brothers. Today those memories fuel Billy’s innate talent and desire to bring good times through music to others across the nation. Producer and lead talent in three national hit shows, Billy developed the live request format for Yesterday and Today, complete with the requirement that all the band members memorize and be able to play on a second’s notice all 200+ songs in the Beatles anthology. “But it’s not your typical request show. Along with a request, we ask for the reason behind it and we chat a little with the person who made it, which makes the show interesting and interactive.” No wigs or accents here, the show incorporates a 1960s style set and modern day lighting scheme to create an extraordinary theatrical concert feel. Buddy Holly seems to be the part written just for Billy McGuigan. He’s emulated the rock n’ roll pioneer in the role more than 1,500 times in his own stage show paying homage to the late Buddy Holly in Rave On! The Buddy Holly Experience, in addition to over 450 performances in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story across the country. Rock Legends: People’s Choice is an expanded rock and roll revue show where audiences vote to hear their favorite songs from rock legends Elvis, Elton John, Billy Joel, The Doors, The Rolling Stones, Buddy Holly, Pink Floyd, and Sir Paul McCartney. When he’s not on the road, Billy keeps it all rolling as CEO of Rave On Productions, acting in industrial films and commercials and doing voiceover work. He is actively involved in the Leukemia Lymphoma Society and balances all this with the real reason he’s doing it all – children Cartney and Ciaran and wife Rachelle. Applause for Billy 2014 CPACS Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service from the University of Nebraska at Omaha 2012 Midlands Business Journal 40 Under 40 Award Recipient Spotlight Award for Best Actor in a Musical (Phoenix) Arizoni Award Nomination – Best Actor in a Lead Role (Phoenix) Performed with Buddy Holly contemporaries Tommy Allsup (Buddy Holly’s lead guitarist) and Sonny West (songwriter of Rave On! and Oh, Boy!). This new version is expanded from the most recent edition (2009) and contains even more hit and significant non-hit covers of Buddy Holly “solo” and Buddy Holly & The recordings ... as well as newly discovered Buddy Holly "salute" songs, interviews, and recorded historical artifacts that WDAM Radio has identified and acquired. • BUDDY HOLLY (Charles Hardin Holley) 7Th September 1936 - 3Rd February 1959 LYRICS Coordinated by Robin Dunn & Chrissie Van Varik
BUDDY HOLLY (Charles Hardin Holley) 7th September 1936 - 3rd February 1959 LYRICS Coordinated by Robin Dunn & Chrissie van Varik. Buddy Holly was born Charles Hardin Holley on 7th September 1936 in Lubbock, Texas. At a young age he learned to play guitar, fiddle and piano. He released only three albums during his short lifetime, before his untimely death in an airplane crash that fateful “day the music died”, 3rd February 1959. However, he had been a prolific writer and a couple of albums consisting of unreleased material and demo recordings were issued posthumously. Buddy Holly was one of the inaugural inductees into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986, together with The Everly Brothers. The songs are as performed in principal recordings (or demos) by Buddy Holly alone and/or with The Crickets plus those released by other artistes where Buddy was involved. Additionally included, for diehard collectors of all things Holly, are songs where lyrics refer to Buddy Holly or his songs. The bracketed date following the title denotes the year of the initial recording. Where it was difficult to detect precisely what is being sung, queries/gaps or alternative suggestions are included in blue and/or indicated by ??. Details of backing musicians are shown both for the pre and posthumous releases. Reference to The Picks 1980s/90s additional overdubs is omitted. Some very obscure titles have been discovered; information is wanted - dates and any recordings. NB: the notes are from various, sometimes contradictory, sources. In many instances Norman Petty (25th May 1927 - 15th August 1984) is included as a co-composing credit.

Now if the advert above does not press all the right buttons, I guess you’re reading the wrong publication, subscribing to the wrong organization. This promises to be one hell of a show, another landmark in the making, I can feel it in my gut folks. I have spoken to all artists over these last few weeks at the time of typing, and they are really up for it, I mean really raring to go. As you can see we are returning to the 100 Club after a break of a few years. Unfortunately we have decided to leave the Borderline, as I truly feel the ambience of the refurbished venue is unsuitable for our type of show. I must point out before any cries of disloyalty towards the 100 Club for leaving that venue for the Borderline, it was purely that at the time the veteran Oxford Street establishment was under threat. It was suggested by the management that we move our event to a temporary home whilst the problems were in the process of being sorted out.
