    International Karate Organization Kyokushinkaikan World Sokyokushin KYOKUSHINKAIKAN KUMITE RULES DURATION OF A MATCH 1.1 Each Kumite shall last 3 minutes. 1.2 If no decision in favour of either opponent is made by the 4 judges and the referee, and then the referee will authorize an extension, such extension to be limited to 2 minutes duration. 1.3 If after the first extension there is still no decision a further two minutes, ENCHO is given. If after this second two minutes a draw is given the contestants must be weighed. 1.4 If one of the competitors is lighter then the other for a value described below, such will be declared a winner. There is no Tameshiwari test. They must fight one more extension of 2 minutes duration and a decision must be made. If one of the competitors is lighter then the other for a value 5 kg or more, such will be declared a winner. (For men and woman both Category) CRITERIA FOR DECISION Full point win (IPPON-GACHI): The following cases will be judged as IPPON-GACHI (full point victory). 2.1 With the exception of techniques which are fouls and not allowed by the contest rules, any technique that connects and instantaneously downs the opponent for longer than 3 seconds, scores a full point. 2.2 If the opponent has loss of his will to fight for more than three seconds. When a contestant informs the referee or judges that he is beaten as the result of techniques allowed within the contest rules, his opponent shall be awarded a full point and the match.

Material and methods: Twenty-four male partcipants (12 shotokan and 12 kyokushin karate athletes) underwent sonographic ex- amination with Honda HS – 2200 (Honda, Japan) ultrasound scanner. The Achilles tendon of both legs was measured twice before and then immediately following training. The sagittal thickness of the tendon was ob- served at a point exactly 10 millimetres proximal to the calcaneal insertion.

To assess the prevalence of low back pain among those practicing Kyokushin karate, we take into account age, body weight, sex, length of karate experience, level of skill, and occupation. Materials and Methods: The study involved 100 people practicing Kyokushin karate, aged 18 to 44. A questionnaire developed for this study and the Oswestry Disability Index (ODI) were used. Results: The research showed the prevalence of low back pain among karate practitioners (55%), depending on age (R = −0.24; p = 0.015), body weight (χ2 = 16.7; p = 0.002), occupation (χ2 = 18.4; p = 0.0004), and overall length of karate experience (R = −0.28; p = 0.04).

CYNARSKI THE traditionally UNDERSTOOD karate-DO AS AN educational SYSTEM: application OF THE martial arts’ pedagogy Introduction The scientific problem undertaken here is to clarify the application of the “karate pathway” in a specific educational system. A variety of theBudo Pedagogy is applied under the name of karate-do. Is karate really an educational system? The issue will be implemented from the perspective of the Humanistic Theory of Martial Arts and the anthropology of martial arts.1 It is the anthropology of the “warriors pathway,” as we can translate Budo sensu largo. Of course, Budo sensu stricto is an untranslatable concept, as a specific fragment of Japanese culture.2 Accordingly, we accept this conceptual language of the Humanistic Theory of Martial Arts and anthropology of martial arts. For instance, “Martial arts is a historic category of flawless methods of unarmed combat fights, and the use of weapons combined with a spiritual element (personal development, also in the transcendent sphere).”3 The ways of martial arts include certain forms of physical (psychophysical) culture, which, based on the tradition of warrior cultures, lead, through the training of fighting techniques, to a psychophysical improvement and self-realization. At the same time, they are the processes of education and positive ascetics. The positive asceticism combines corporal exercise with conscious self- discipline and is oriented towards moral and spiritual progress. 1 W.J.     Kickboxing Official grading syllabus Traditional Japanese, Chinese & Okinawan Martial arts Price £2.50 Kickboxing – A Brief history Tatsuo Yamada, who established "Nihon Kempo Karate-do", was interested in Muay Thai because he wanted to perform Karate matches with full-contact rules since practitioners are not allowed to hit each other directly in karate matches. Yamada had already announced his plan which was named "The draft principles of project of establishment of a new sport and its industrialization" in November 1959 and he proposed the tentative name of "Karate-boxing" for this new sport. Yamada started studying with a Muay Thai champion, formerly his son Kan Yamada's sparring partner. Osamu Noguchi who was a promoter of boxing and was also interested in Muay Thai took the Thai fighter and developed a combined martial art of karate and Thai boxing and creating the term kickboxing in the 1950s. In 1963 three karate fighters from Oyama dojo (Kyokushinkai Karate) went to the Lumpinee Boxing Stadium in Thailand, and fought against 3 Muay Thai fighters winning two of the three bouts. The three fighters' names were Tadashi Nakamura, Kenji Kurosaki and Akio Fujihira (also known as Noboru Osawa). The original kickboxing allowed throwing and butting in the beginning to distinguish it from the Muay Thai style, although this was later dropped. The Kickboxing Association, the first kickboxing sanctioning body, was founded by Osamu Noguchi in 1966 soon after that. Then the first kickboxing event was held in Osaka on the 11th April 1966. Tatsu Yamada died in 1967; his dojo changed its name to Suginami Gym, and kept sending fighters off to support kickboxing.
