Pocas han du - rado tanto. Desde el nº 1 ha ido mejorando en todos los sentidos, incluso en el cien - tífico es muy aceptable. Pretendíamos y seguimos pretendiendo dar a conocer la riqueza micológica de nuestros bosques y praderas tanto para su aprovechamiento culinario como para la divulgación de cuantas especies se desarrollan en Cantabria. Hemos pretendido que nuestros paisanos conozcan tanto los nombres científicos como los vulgares. Con los primeros nos entenderemos en todo el mundo. Los segundos nos servirán para recordar nuestra cultura setera que no es mucha. También hemos tenido secciones en las que se han comentado las actitudes ante la recolección de setas, con el fin de reflexionar y humildemente educar a los que se acercan al campo. Pretendíamos conciliar el disfrute con el respeto. Poco a poco hemos ido añadiendo colaboraciones de amigos de otras so - ciedades micológicas que han enriquecido nuestra revista y le han dado un carácter más amplio, rebasando las fronteras de nuestra región. Algunos ya son colabora - dores fijos. Este trayecto se ha recorrido con el esfuerzo de muchas personas que han estado en los distintos equipos de redacción, de muchos colaboradores que se han esforzado en enviarnos sus artículos, fotografías, dibujos, recetas… Detrás ha ha - bido muchas horas de trabajo de campo, estudio, reflexión, redacción, diseño, etc. Ha habido momentos difíciles que se han superado con la ilusión y la responsabili - dad de llegar a publicar el siguiente número. A todas estas personas estamos agra - decidos, pues sin ellas nunca habríamos llegado hasta aquí. También estamos agradecidos a quienes nos han leído, han solicitado nues - tra revista, nos han pedido informaciones complementarias, nos han comentado los artículos, nos han advertido de algún error. Ellos han sido el acicate que nos ha ani - mado a seguir. Pero de un modo especial se ha de mencionar a José Luis Alonso. Ha coor - dinado los 25 números. Con su trabajo, seriedad, perseverancia, rigor, capacidad de entusiasmar… ha dinamizado el trabajo de los distintos equipos de redacción con habilidad y destreza. La Sociedad Micológica Cántabra está en deuda con él y desde este editorial le dice ¡GRACIAS! Sabemos que le pesan los años de esfuerzo, que está deseando que alguien coja el relevo. Seguiremos abusando de su gene - rosidad. Su ejemplo estará siempre presente en esta revista y deseamos que, por muchos años, su presencia también. Finalmente nuestro agradecimiento al Excmo. Ayuntamiento de Camargo por su extraordinario patrocinio. No se fue la crisis, ahora es un hoyo muy profundo del que tengo la esperanza que saldremos. Pues así como la excursión social de primavera del pasado año fracasó porque con lo que cayó ese día era temerario asomarse a la puerta, dado el di - luvio que sufrimos, en la de octubre se tuvo que anular la convocatoria por falta de “Quorum” Solo se apuntaron seis. Es una pena que estas salidas, tan esca - sas, porque solo son dos al año, no se hagan. En junio nos pusimos en contacto con Julián Alonso, presidente de LuCuS, de Lugo, para hacerse cargo de la organización del 7º Encuentro de micología del Atlántico. - 5- Rincón Social Durante la primavera y el verano el comité de redacción de Yesca , con la ayuda de Claude Lavoise e Ita Paz pudimos realizar la confección de la revista yesca nº 24. Se quiso hacer en impresión digital pero al final hubo de optarse por la impresión Offset, y eso que bajamos la tirada a 650 ejemplares. Se preparó una degustación de setas en casa de valentín Castañera, con Saturnino Pedraja, José Ramón Rivas y Antonio Piñal para las fiestas patronales de Herrera. El día de San Roque se ofreció una degustación en la que Pedro Rivas, valentín Castañera y José Ramón Rivas repartieron la degustación bajo la carpa donde se celebraron los actos lúdicos. La excursión que se programa todos los otoños en autobús, primero se intentó que fuera a la virgen de las Nieves en Campoó de Yuso, pero el autocar no podía subir allí, por lo que se optó ir a Los Llares, en el praúco, fue anulada debido a la escasa aceptación por parte del conjunto social. Solo hubo media docena de apuntados. una pena que se esté perdiendo este lazo de unión entre los socios, pues es una buena oportunidad para conocerse y mantener alguna relación de amistad.

Abstract Effect of a Trichoderma bio-inoculant on ectomycorrhizal colonisation of Pinus radiata seedlings by R.F Minchin Ectomycorrhizal colonisation potential of Pinus radiata seedlings inoculated with the commercially available Trichoderma species bio-inoculant, Arbor-Guard™, was investigated in a commercial containerised nursery setting and in a separate glasshouse experiment, which included the co-inoculation of specific ectomycorrhizal fungi. Application of Arbor-Guard™ to Pinus radiata seedlings in a containerised commercial nursery had no significant effect on the ability of the naturally occurring ectomycorrhizal (ECM) fungi to colonise the seedlings. Thelephora terrestris was the dominant ectomycorrhizal species colonising the P. radiata root tips and has been described as a species able to rapidly outcompete other ECM species colonisation, particularly in high organic matter media like that used at the containerised commercial nursery investigated.

Spatafora Rhizopogon is a hypogeous fungal genus that forms ectomycorrhizae with genera of the Pinaceae. The greatest number and species of Rhizopogon are found in coniferous forests of the Pacific Northwestern United States, where members of the Pinaceae are also concentrated. Rhizopogon spp. are host-specific primarily with Pinus spp. and Pseudotsuga spp. and thus are an important component of these forest ecosystems. Rhizopogon includes over 100 species; however, the systematics of Rhizopogon have not been well understood. Currently the genus is placed in the Boletales, an order of ectomycorrhizal fungi that are primarily epigeous and have a tubular hymenium. Suillus is a stipitate genus closely related to Rhizopogon that is also in the Boletales and host specific with Pinaceae.I examined the relationship of Rhizopogon to Suillus and other genera in the Boletales. Infrageneric relationships in Rhizopogon were also investigated to test current taxonomic hypotheses and species concepts. Through phylogenetic analyses of large subunit and internal transcribed spacer nuclear ribosomal DNA sequences, I found that Rhizopogon and Suillus formed distinct monophyletic groups. Rhizopogon was composed of four distinct groups; sections Amylopogon and Villosuli were strongly supported monophyletic groups. Section Rhizopogon was not monophyletic, and formed two distinct clades. Section Fulviglebae formed a strongly supported group within section Villosuli.

    Vol. 11 No. 3 October 1999 About TERI A dynamic and flexible organization with a global vision and a local focus, TERI was established in 1974. While in the initial period the focus was mainly on documentation and information dissemination activities, research activities in the fields of energy, environment, and sustainable development were initiated towards the end of 1982. The genesis of these activities lay in TERIs firm belief that efficient utilization of energy, sustainable use of natural resources, large-scale adoption of renewable energy technologies, and reduction of all forms of waste would move the process of development towards the goal of sustainability. The Bioresources and Biotechnology Division Focusing on ecological, environmental, and food security issues, the Divisions activities include working with a wide variety of living organisms, sophisticated genetic engineering techniques, and, at the grassroots level, with village communities. The Division functions through four areas: Microbial Biotechnology, Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Tissue Culture, and Forestry/Biodiversity. The Division is actively engaged in mycorrhizal research. The Mycorrhiza Network has specifically been created to help scientists across the globe in carrying out research on mycorrhiza. The Mycorrhiza Network and the Centre for Mycorrhizal Culture Collection Established in April 1988 at TERI, New Delhi, the Mycorrhiza Network first set up the MIC (Mycorrhiza Information Centre), the same year, and the CMCC (Centre for Mycorrhizal Culture Collection) a national germplasm bank of mycorrhizal fungi in 1993. The general objectives of the Mycorrhiza Network are to strengthen research, encourage participation, promote information exchange, and publish the quarterly newsletter, Mycorrhiza News. The MIC has been primarily responsible for establishing an information network, which facilitates information sharing among the network members and makes the growing literature on mycorrhiza available to researchers.

    Distribution and Abundance of Rare Sequestrate Fungi in Southwestern Oregon FY10-15 ISSSSP Project Final Report Darlene Southworth, Department of Biology, Southern Oregon University, Ashland January 2016 Abstract. This project was a strategic survey of rare and little-known sequestrate fungi in hardwood and mixed hardwood-conifer habitats in southwest Oregon. These vegetation types, comprising a significant fraction of BLM lands and mid-elevation USFS lands, are targeted for increased management activities such as fuel reduction, recreation, ATV use, and harvesting of special forest products. In addition, global warming may decrease the area occupied by conifers and increase the area of mixed hardwood-conifer forests and oak savannas. Objectives were to extend knowledge of sequestrate fungi on federal lands in southern Oregon including (1) distribution in oak and mixed conifer-hardwood vegetation, (2) habitat breadth breadth, (3) rarity, and DNA sequences to verify identification. We surveyed for sequestrate fungi in oak woodlands, oak-rosaceous chaparral, mixed conifer- hardwood forests, and conifer stands, from three geographic regions in Jackson and Josephine Counties: the eastern slope of the Siskiyou Mountains, interior valleys, and the western slope of the southern Cascades. We collected over 700 specimens in two survey seasons (spring 2010 and 2011). Host species included Oregon white oak, California Black oak, Douglas-fir, manzanita and curl-leaf mountain mahogany. Undisturbed mature stands with thick leaf litter and interspersed with openings yielded the largest collections. Wet years were more productive than dry years. From over 700 specimens, we have identified an estimated 83 species. We have tentatively identified 15 species on the target list.

Estonica, Fasc. 45: 65–80 (2009) Diversity and distribution of clavarioid fungi in Estonia Anton Shiryaev Institute of Plant and Animal Ecology, Ural Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences, 202 8-March St. , RUS-620144 Ekaterinburg, Russia E-mail: [email protected] Abstract: This paper attempts to compile available data on Estonian clavarioid fungi (Basidiomycota) published between 1856 and 2006 (78 publications) and 986 herbarium specimens studied and observations. 103 species have been reported including 46 species new for Estonia. The most frequent species is Typhula erythropus, followed by Macrotyphula juncea, Typhula setipes, Clavulina cinerea, Clavariadelphus ligula, Ramaria gracilis and Typhula phacorrhiza. These constitute around 28% of all observations, but only 6.8% of all species. Twenty one species (20.6%) were collected only once, fifteen species (14.7%) twice and ten species three times (9.8%). Some species rare for whole Europe, but also for its hemiboreal zone, are also infrequently collected, like Clavaria zollingeri, Clavulina amethystina, Lentaria subcaulescens, Multiclavula mucida, Ra- maria botrytis, Ramariopsis crocea, Ramariopsis pulchella and Sparassis crispa. Rare and threatened are the old-growth habitats species like, e.g., Clavaria amoenoides, Clavaria rosea, Clavulinopsis rufipes, Clavulinopsis umbrinella, Multiclavula corynoides, Ramaria broomei and Typhula sphaeroidea. Kokkuvõte: Harikulaadsete kandseente mitmekesisus ja levik Eestis Kirjutises on kokku võetud Eesti harikuliselaadsete kandseente kohta käivad 78 trükises avaldatud andmed (1856–2006), 986 herbaareksemplari uurimise tulemused ja autori vaatlused. Eestist on leitud 103 liiki, neist 46 märgitakse siin esmakordselt. Sagedaim liik on Typhula erythropus, järgnevad Macrotyphula juncea, Typhula setipes, Clavulina cinerea, Clavariadelphus ligula, Ramaria gracilis ja Typhula phacorrhiza.
