He called me, and said he had one as well, and when I arranged to see the car, my jaw dropped when I saw it was one of the “missing” 1960 Sebring cars. After a 3-hour wait in what shade Donna there was, we stayed in Willows instead and got to Solvang very late on Monday. What a fabulous town! It really was settled long ago by Danish people—it is not just a marketing ploy. The pastries make wonderful breakfasts. They had a great gimmick rally. You followed the writ- ten course and answered questions based on pictures of signs that had the important work blocked out. They were really clever questions! The route took us through Los Olivos twice, and out to the gate of Neverland, Michael Jackson’s ranch. We saw horse ranches and learned a lot of local history. The car show was on the Mission grounds, 1/4 mile walking distance from the hotel. They put up a huge tent with tables and chairs (and shade) so we could eat our box lunches and visit with friends. John & Rita Drake got first place in the premier class. Almost everyone signed up for the BBQ in a park about 2 miles down the road from the hotel. California has been blessed with rain, but it washed out the bridge needed to get there. We were told of the 10-mile detour and got there just fine. The food was wonderful, and the company good too— we happened to sit right across from Sean Goldman, an owner at Moss Motors. They had two tours we liked very much. One was a tour to Moss Motors in Goleta, about 45 miles away. We got to walk through the warehouse and see how it is all done, even the shipping, receiving, and returns. Very inter- esting. The second tour was to Mendenhall’s Museum of Gasoline Pumps and Petrolinia in Buelton about 4 miles away. The drive was not long, but the stuff to see was over- whelming. There were cars, signs, pumps, models, every automotive collectable you could imagine. And everything

Usually some great weather (We've experienced everything from 80+ degrees to a cool and misty morning followed by a wonderful afternoon). Back by popular demand we've made arrangements with the Korner Post Cafe for dinner in the Steel Wheel Room and Rick Ladbury (the owner) says he'll match or exceed the quality of the Prime Rib dinner from years past. If the weather is great we can sit outside. He also does a great breakfast where many members eat before starting the tour on Sunday morn- ing. We are pretty sure Detroit Lake will be full of water this year so there will be some beautiful views of the lake.

Save the Date—September 9 Bob and Taunya McKee are leading a tour from Vancouver after Classics & Coffee to points east. All the classic car clubs are invited to come enjoy the drive in the countryside .Meet some new friends. Get to see new cars. Enjoy the drive. At the end, we will stop of lunch? Linner? Early dinner? The top 4 bowlers of each team will be figured in to decide the winning club each month with the Grand Prize awarded after the November 18th bowling. The main purpose is to have FUN and get to know mem- bers from the other clubs. We may go over to a near by Piz- za restaurant for a bite to eat afterwards. Prizes will be awarded. If you want to sign up for bowling and aren’t go- ing to be able to attend the meetings, call Debbie Haroun 503 754-1486 or Sue Stose 360 601-7002 and they will put you on the list.

MG Midget/Spitfire 1500 engine. This was allegedly rebuilt. I didn't do the work, but looks like it could be true. It is clean and runs well. I saw and heard it run on a full test stand. It has good oil pres- sure. Crankshaft endplay is good. Sounds good. Not shown but included are the single, Zenith-Stromberg carb, coil and the electronic ignition. I suspect the water pump needs re- placement. I bought it in a package deal, but this is the part I don't need. $750. Paul Rollins 360-576-7973, [email protected]
