Annual Report 2014 Fueling the LGBT Movement Letter from the Board Chair & Executive Director This report is about 2014. Yet as this letter is written in 2015, it’s impossible not to start by recognizing the spectacular recent progress of the movement for the rights and dignity of LGBT people: the move to eliminate the ban on transgender people serving in the military; the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruling that discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is illegal; and, of course, the grand marriage victory at the Supreme Court. As we celebrate this dramatic progress, we all know that it comes out of the passion and sacrifices of countless people and the unflagging work of thousands of nonprofit groups, large and small. A relative few make headlines or become well known, but it is the many – not just the few – who make social change happen. These triumphs belong to all of us. Horizons Foundation has had the great privilege of not only being part of many of these historic events, but helping to shape and fuel them. The foundation has been there early. It’s been there often. It’s been there again and again and again. Our first grant for work on LGBT marriage equality, for example, goes back nearly two decades. Our first grant in support of transgender rights happened nearly as long ago. Horizons made the first grant anywhere to fight HIV. As this report relates, the year 2014 – the foundation’s 34th year – built on this powerful legacy. We are especially glad to share the remarkable list of grants made to organizations in every part of the LGBT community, as well as indicators of strong financial growth. -

Di Bona also said that MacGyver , the cult hit show on which he was a producer, promoted an anti-gun movement position, as the character of MacGyver does not use a gun, but rather his own intelligence. People involved with television shows M*A*S*H and Happy Days told Shapiro that they possessed pacifistic and anti-Vietnam War agendas. [2] Another example is the television show Sesame Street which is accused of deliberately spreading left-wing propaganda to children. [3] Producer Leonard Goldberg stated to Shapiro that in the industry liberalism is "100 percent dominant, and anyone who denies it is kidding, or not telling the truth", and when Shapiro asked if politics are a barrier to entry replied, "Absolutely". -

It was a kingdom ruled by the great king Arthur who was a virtuous and wise monarch. His reign was presented as idyllic and he was considered the model ruler. Grant Tinker Dies at 90
Grant Tinker Dies at 90 11.30.2016 Grant Tinker, a revered producer and executive who founded MTM Enterprises with Mary Tyler Moore and former NBC chairman-CEO who took the network from last place to first, has died at 90. Tinker died Monday at his home in California, according to a report Wednesday on NBC's Today, Variety reports. Tinker's television career spanned almost half a century, from its inception through the 1990s. His TV projects began with The Mary Tyler Moore Show through to Lou Grant, WKRP in Cincinnati and the dramatic hit Hill Street Blues. Two of Tinker's four children, sons Mark and John Tinker, are active in the TV business as producers and directors. "My father set the bar high both as a television executive and a father. I never heard anyone speak of him with anything other than respect and admiration. I'm proud to be his son and especially proud of the legacy he leaves behind in business and as a gentleman," Mark Tinker told Variety. Tinker is an executive producer on NBC's Chicago PD. "Grant Tinker was a great man who made an indelible mark on NBC and the history of television that continues to this day," said NBCUniversal CEO Steve Burke in a statement. "He loved creative people and protected them, while still expertly managing the business. Very few people have been able to achieve such a balance. We try to live up to the standards he set each and every day. Our hearts go out to his family and friends." At NBC, Tinker was known for his famous saying: "First be best, then be first." That mantra was put to use when Tinker and his programming chief Brandon Tartikoff stayed the course with shows such as Cheers and Hill Street Blues even when they were at the bottom of the Nielsen rankings. -

Reviewed by Karen Tongson University of Southern California The measure of good criticism, one axiom offers, is that it makes you want to read, see or watch whatever the author has written about. Elana Levine’s provocatively titled Wallowing in Sex: The New Sexual Culture of 1970s American Television is this kind of book. Many of us have already seen the “jiggle shows” of the 70s in repeat format thanks to their afterlives in syndication. Programs like The Dating Game, Three’s Company, Charlie’s Angels and The Love Boat continue to provide fodder for an irony-laced “Gen X” nostalgia industry that cribs the era’s theme songs and fashions for its hyper-referential social logics. With Wallowing in Sex, Levine deepens this televisual archive by exploring the range of tawdry genres that emerged during what we might call the long 1970s (from 1968-1981)—including “smutcoms,” sexploitative Made-for-TV teen parables, and sexy-campy crime dramas both daytime and primetime. As she works her way through the riveting if occasionally absurd narratives of this bawdy and lucrative programming, Levine provides gender studies and cultural studies scholars with compelling critical backstories for how shadowy urban figures like teen runaways, street pimps and rapacious lesbian inmates made their way into America’s suburban living -

If it was possible to obtain the missing page(s) or section, they are spliced into the film along with adjacent pages. When an image on the film is obliterated with a round black mark it is an indication that the F ilm inspector noticed either blurred copy because of movement during exposure, or duplicate copy. Unless we meant to delete copyrighted materials that should not have been filmed, you will find a good image of the page in the adjacent frame. 3. When a map, drawing or chart, etc., is part of the material being photo graphed the photographer has followed a definite method in “sectioning” the material. It is customary to begin filming at the upper left hand comer of a large sheet and to continue from left to right in equal sections with small overlaps. If necessary, sectioning is continued again-beginning below the first row and continuing on until complete. 4. For any illustrations that cannot be reproduced satisfactorily by xerography, photographic prints can be purchased at additional cost and tipped into your xerographic copy.
