RAD Winter Workshop Classes for Grades 1 – 8 and Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate

An intensive workshop designed to help students prepare for examinations. To take part students should have a working knowledge of the syllabus and chosen dances.

The Royal Academy of Dance Victorian Tasmanian Regional Advisory Panel is delighted to present RAD Syllabus classes for all Grade and Intermediate Foundation & Intermediate Students. Classes will be led by RAD examiners and tutors. Places are limited and will fill fast so please make sure to book early to ensure a place. Scholarships and encouragement awards will be presented during the last class of course. Students must have attended all of the classes to be eligible.

Please note that Awards from 2018 are valid until 2021 and Awards from 2019 are valid until 2022.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARD  One scholarship will be awarded in each class.  The faculty for the class will make the scholarship decisions and their decisions are final, no discussions will be entered into.  These awards must be used within the next two calendar years i.e. 2022 – 23, and are funded by the RAD VIC TAS  Panel entitling the recipient to free enrolment in a Royal Academy of Dance Victorian Tasmanian Panel course.

Conditions of Entry

 Entries close 6 June or when classes have reached 25 students per class.

 Each student will need to have a name tag (supplied by the RAD) on their at all times.

 Unless otherwise directed by the parent/guardian it is accepted that photographs taken during this course may be used for RAD promotional/reporting purposes.

 Entry fees due to withdrawal are non-refundable unless a written request is made to the Event Organiser. Refunds will only be made in accordance with the following terms: o Withdrawals made prior to the advertised event closing date will incur a 10% administration fee. o Withdrawals made after the closing date and prior to the event will be refunded 50% on presentation of a medical certificate. o No refunds will be made for non-attendance on any day of the event.

 Fee Discounts o Student is a Full Scholarship recipient from 2018 or 2019 and entitled to free enrolment. o Student is an Encouragement Award recipient from 2018 or 2019 and entitled to 25% discount. o More than one child attending the full course - sibling discount 10% from total fees. o Individual students attending the full week’s course at more than one level – discount 10% from total fees.

 Students are required to wear shoes and appropriate clothing when not in class when arriving and departing from venue. As per COVID-19 regulations, all students should arrive for all classes dressed and ready to dance (streetwear over dancewear), as change room facilities may not be available. All students should bring their own water bottles, towels, and a larger towel/yoga mat to warm up on; as well as individual props (if required for their variation).

 RAD Australia and our host venue will be operating as per our current COVIDSafety plans and policies; which are subject to change from time to time (in line with any changes to state and federal government regulations and recommendations). Faculty

Julie Fleming

Julie Fleming Dip RBS TTC, ARAD, AISTD, RAD Tutor – Faculty of Education & CPD

Julie Fleming trained at her native Dance School of Scotland then attended The Royal School where she gained her Teachers Course Diploma. She has taught in and Australia and with over 25 years of experience has continually entered students for RAD examinations during this time. She is an RAD Tutor for The Faculty of Educations’ CBTS teacher training program, QUT Access Route to RAD, Continuing Professional Development courses and the new RAD syllabus. She regularly Tutors on RAD Panel events held nationally, open work in classical and character, coaching for examinations and conducting Comprehensive Syllabus Courses. She lives in Melbourne with her husband & their two sons.

Julie-Anne Kerr RAD RTS and RAD Examiner

Julie-Anne is a registered teacher of The Royal Academy of Dance and has enjoyed teaching and inspiring young dancers for over 35 years. She taught for over 30 years with Tanya Pearson and from 2011 – 2013 Julie-Anne was Co-Owner and Co-Director of the TPCCA. She is now a Freelance Teacher in Sydney and has worked at many prestigious schools preparing students for RAD Exams and Holiday Workshops. Julie-Anne has also enjoyed her time as a volunteer on the NSW Advisory Panel and has been Vice Chairperson for the past 5 years. She has recently taken on mentoring young teachers through the CBTS course. She has travelled with students to compete at the Genee International Ballet Competition, AHA Awards, Youth America Grand Prix and the . Julie-Anne is passionate in her work and has an excellent reputation as a teacher.

Anna Veretennikova Anna trained with Valeria Hansen in Rockhampton before undertaking full time classical studies with Scully Borovansky - Nellie Potts and Kathleen Daintree [Sydney] achieving her RAD Solo Seal. After receiving a scholarship, she moved overseas to commence training with the Centre de Danse Internationale de Rosella Hightower [Cannes]; undertook classes with Marika Bessobrasova, [Monte Carlos] and Raymond Franchetti and Gibert Mayer [Paris Opera]; Carolyn Carlson and Matt Mattox [Contemporary and Jazz studies Paris] Her performance career began with The de Marseilles before taking up a contract for two years with Contemporary Company The Ballet Theatre - Joseph Russillo in Paris. On her return to Australia, Anna performed with the Adelaide based company, Australian Dance Theatre under the directorship of Elizabeth Dalman. It was during this time that her love of teaching began and she became a senior teacher for Rex Reid at the newly formed Australian Dance Theatre School. Also while in Adelaide, Anna performed in the South Australian Opera production of Die Fledermaus and was included on the teaching staff at the inception of the College of the Performing Arts. In 1979 Anna moved to Melbourne where she was a faculty member of the Victorian College of the Arts, School of Dance for 7 years. Then in 1988 she commenced her own Dance School - Dance Partners, Albert Park. Up until 2000 Anna was a senior teacher for the Tony Bartuccio Dance Centre and The Australian Conservatoire of Dance [Director; Christine Walsh AM] teaching the two genres of classical ballet and contemporary. In 2003 Anna was appointed a Grades Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance [RAD] and currently holds the status of RAD Tutor for both Teacher and Student Courses. Anna fulfils the rest of her busy year with freelance teaching and tutoring.

Shayne White (McCormick) B.Phil (Hons), Examiner for the Royal Academy of Dance, Tutor CBTS, CPD, ADV., A.R.A.D () Advanced Teachers Diploma specialising in Graded and Vocational levels, Director, Australia - The Young Dancers Company, Director, Shayne McCormick Ballet Centre, Cert 4 Training Trainers in the Workplace, Current Blue-card Holder

Shayne teaches daily at her ballet school, the Shayne McCormick Ballet Centre and over the years has produced many dancers who have gone on to dance and teach professionally both in Australia and overseas. Shayne has received Australia Day Awards for Community Service with her Australia - The

Young Dancers Company ballet production of "The Water" a classical ballet based on water conservation and also for her work in the Cultural Development of Ipswich. Shayne guest teaches throughout Australia and many overseas countries, and has an open door policy at her school - nurturing and encouragement of the development of new teachers.
