Depuis plusieurs années, j'ai 'consacré de nombreuses heures, fort agréables d'ailleurs, à compiler dés abréviations de toutes sortes sur lesquelles on bute souvent faute d'en saisir le sens. Si ce travail peut contribuer à faciliter la tâche aux chercheurs, mes, efforts n'auront pas été inutiles et j'aurai toutes les raisons de m'en réjouir. Sans doute le présent Dictionnaire quadr1lingue d'abréviations techniques pourra-t-il servir à nombre de gens: traducteurs, professeurs, bibliothécaires, ingénieurs, étudiants, industriels, administrateurs, inventeurs, militaires, en un mot à tous les curieux de savoir. Peut-être se sera-t-il glissé des .erreurs et des lacunes, Qu'on me les pardonne car nul n'est parfait hélas: A chacun d'élaguer et .de compléter partout où 11 y à lieu. On ne' 'Pourra' ainsi que rendre le Dictionnaire plus utile. Telle est d'ailleurs . l'idée qui m'a animé tout au cours de' la compilation. Pour faire cette compilation, j'ai puisé dans maints ouvrages polyglottes de renommée internationale. Par conséquent, il va de soi que la terminologie, à part quelqueb américanismes de bon aloi, est d'usage courant dans tous les pays où l'on parlé l'anglais, le français, l'espagnol et l'allemand. Qu'il me soit permis d'exprimée ma profonde gratitude à deux éminents collbgues en traduction polir l'aide immense qu'ils m'ont accordée si généreusement et de bien bonne grâce. Ma recon- naissance va d'abord à M. Joaqdn Usubiaga, d'origine espagnole .comme son nom l'indique; je lui dols d'avoir révise avec un soin méticuleux la partie espagnole.
