We aim to break even on postage and will use the best method to minimise costs. One good innovation is the introduction of the “POST PLUS” satchels, which replace the old red satchels and include a tracking number. Available in 3 sizes they are 500 grams ($7.50) 3kgs ($11.50) 5kgs ($14.50) P & P. The latter 2 are perfect for larger interstate packages as anything over 500 grams even is going to cost more than $11.50. We can take a cd out of a case to reduce costs. Basically 1 cd still $2. 2cds $3 and rest as they will fit. Again Australia Post have this ludicrous notion that if a package can fit through a certain slot on a card it goes as a letter whereas if it doesn’t it is classified as a “parcel” and can cost up to 5 times as much. One day I will send a letter to the Minister for Trade as their policies are distinctly prejudicial to commerce. Out here they make massive profits but offer a very poor number of services and charge top dollar for what they do provide. Still, the mail mostly always gets there. WALKER* IN THE sixteenth and early seventeenth centuries extravagant notions had been held of tobacco as the Herba Panacea, Heilkraut, and Herbe propre 'a tous maux. In the course of time these had waned and tobacco had come to be consumed more often for pleasure than for health, but about 1800 tobacco was still being used as a remedy for many ills. "Tobacco is narcotic, sedative, emetic, diuretic, cathartic, and errhine, whether it be taken into the stomach or applied externally", said James Jennings in 1830.1 Tobacco smoking was recommended as an antispasmodic for asthma and a clyster or enema of infused tobacco was employed for intestinal obstruction, strangulated hernia, and strychnine poisoning, and as a diuretic for dropsy, dysury, and ischuria. In the cholera epidemic of 1832 tobacco was injected in the vain hope of alleviating the violent purges caused by that disease.3 However, following the isolation of the nicotine content of tobacco in 1828 and the demonstration of its poisonous qualities, doctors became wary of administering so dangerous a drug. In 1863 the British Medical Journal spoke of twenty-five years' past disuse of the tobacco enema on account of its uncertain action and sometimes fatal results.4 The revision of Pereira's Materia Medica published in 1872 in expressing the same view stated that because of the widespread use of anaesthesia surgical operation for hernia was no longer dreaded.5 At Nottingham, said Dr.

But in the course of reclaiming Pericles, The Winter’s Tale, Cymbeline, and The Tempest as significant works of art, this revisionary critical tradition has effaced the very qualities that make these plays so important to our understanding of Shakespeare’s career and to the development of English Renaissance drama: their belatedness and their overt strangeness. While Shakespeare’s earlier plays take pains to integrate and subsume their narrative romance sources into dramatic form, his late romance plays take exactly the opposite approach: they foreground, even exacerbate, the tension between romance and drama. Verisimilitude is a challenge endemic to theater as an embodied medium, but Shakespeare’s romance plays brazenly alert their audiences to the incredible.

Helmut Thielicke AUTOBIOGRAPHY; In 1976 an extremely modest chapbook of poetry was published titled 'The Halcyon Poems.' In 1996, 'Snippets of His Glory While I Wait' a second chapbook was produced. A third chapbook is planned which will be influenced by reader feed back and also a writers critique group that meets at Gemini Ink, a writer's cooperative in San Antonio, Texas. The projected title is: 'Poems Twice Read on the World Wide Web' and the full title page will add the phrase: 'and other confessions of an agora poet.' In seminary Bob Leslie was the professor I studied with more than any other. Robert C. Leslie published 'Jesus and Logotherapy.' This work came out of his year of study with Victor Frankl. The word 'noetic' has come to me out of these influences. Frankl understood the word 'noetic' to mean the spiritual but a spirituality that is not religiously based. I hope that some of the poetry contained in this blog is spiritual but only a very small fraction is orthodox. I am a poet of the noetic. In those moments of pure religion that I dip into I turn to my own great tradition that is Christianity whose central core, that I sometimes struggle to live, is SACRIFICIAL love. Sacrificial love is far easier said than done. Autobiography represents a wonderful opportunity to say 'thank you' to the teachers, professors, counselors, mentors and therapists to whom I owe a legion of thanks.
