We’re a small group – just four flats at present - and it’s not full-scale communal living. Coop members have individual flats but also share a garden and communal areas; you can choose to shut yourself away quietly at the end of a difficult day but you also know that you can knock on any door for a cup of tea and a chat when you really need to. The work we do together is small scale – minor maintenance, gardening, keeping the books – but it makes you feel that the place you live is a community, not just somewhere to eat and sleep.

We’ve also been making an effort recently to get out of the coop and meet other queer women in Notting- ham, hosting two events at Nottingham Women’s Centre’s Les-Bi Café, supporting each other at the vigil for Orlando and making plans for Nottingham Pride.

We’re currently looking for new members to contrib- ute to our community and potentially live with us in the future, so if you’re a woman in the LGBTQI* community and want to know more about how we work, please get in touch.

You can reach us by email ([email protected]) or find us on Face- book or Twitter.
