Pray for Our Church Pray for the Advancement of God’s Kingdom through GBC 1. That the gospel would be central to all we say and do. o “Only let your manner of life be worthy of the gospel of Christ…” Philippians 1:27 2. That we would be able to multiply (plant) churches. o “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Acts 1:8 3. We would actively share our faith and see more conversions. o But in your hearts honor Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect.” 1 Peter 3:15 4. Our church family would grow in spiritual maturity/holiness. o Until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13 5. More people giving cheerfully, consistently, and generously. o “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.” 2 Corinthians 9:7 6. Deeper love within the church body. o “From whom [Christ] the whole body, joined and held together by every joint with which it is equipped, when each part is working properly, makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.” Ephesians 4:16 7. Deeper unity within our diversity. o “May the God of endurance and encouragement grant you to live in such harmony with one another, in accord with Christ Jesus, that together you may with one voice glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Romans 15:5-6 8. Effective and fruitful preaching of God’s Word. o “Preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.” 2 Timothy 4:2 9. Greater generosity with our time in serving others. o “Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord.” Romans 12:11 10. Our missionaries would be encouraged, faithful, and fruitful. o “Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.” Ephesians 6:18-19 11. God would raise up men and women for ministry. o “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38 12. Our church would impact our community with the gospel. o “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” Matthew 5:16 Pray for Yourself and Your Family Ephesians 3:14-21 14 For this reason I bow my knees before the Father, 15 from whom every family in heaven and on earth is named, 16 that according to the riches of his glory he may grant you to be strengthened with power through his Spirit in your inner being, 17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith—that you, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 may have strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, 19 and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge, that you may be filled with all the fullness of God. 20 Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, 21 to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen. • Pray for awareness of the riches of God’s glory in you. • Pray for strength by the Spirit in your inner man. • Praise God for His power and glory at work inside of us. • Pray for a comprehension of the love of Christ- its breadth, length, height, and depth. • Pray for knowledge of the love of Christ so that you may be filled with the fullness of God. Ephesians 1:16-23 16 I do not cease to give thanks for you, remembering you in my prayers, 17 that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of him, 18 having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, 19 and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might 20 that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places, 21 far above all rule and authority and power and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the one to come. 22 And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to the church, 23 which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all. • Pray for a spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ- His person and work. • Pray for an opening of your spiritual eyes to see the hope of the inheritance to which you were called. • Pray for an understanding of the resurrection power that you have in Christ. • Pray for a submissive attitude toward Christ who is the head of all things including the church. Colossians 1:9-12 9 And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, 10 so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. 11 May you be strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy, 12 giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light. • Pray for knowledge of the will of God. • Pray for a life that is lived worthy of Christ’s life in you and pleasing to Him. • Pray for a fruitful life through good works. • Pray for an increased knowledge of God. • Pray for strength and power for endurance in this life through the glorious might of God who has qualified us for the inheritance of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:9-11 And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, 10 so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. • Pray for a growing love that is rooted in knowledge and discernment. • Pray for a love that does what is excellent and helpful- not enabling. • Pray that your life would be filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes from Jesus Christ. 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be the glory both now and to the day of eternity. Amen. • Pray for growth in grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and His lordship and salvation. • Praise God for His unending glory. Hebrews 12:1-2 Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. • Pray for the courage to lay aside each sin and weight that prevents faithfulness. • Pray for eyes that are focused on Jesus and His finished work. • Adore God for Jesus and His endurance, joy, and exaltation. Matthew 6: 9-13 “Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name. 10 Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. 11 Give us this day our daily bread, 12 and forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Honor God as your heavenly Father who is both holy and kind. • Pray that God’s kingdom would come in your own life and family. • Pray for your daily bread with humility and contentment. • Pray for forgiveness to rule in your heart and family. • Pray for deliverance from the temptations of Satan our enemy. Romans 12:1-2 I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.

  • Position Statement Has Been Endorsed by Nearly 2,500 Churches and Other Nonprofit Organizations
Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability 440 West Jubal Early Drive, Suite 100 ● Winchester, VA 22601 July 17, 2018 To: Members of Congress Re: Nonprofit Parking Tax The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act, signed into law on December 22, 2017, contains a troubling provision that applies federal income tax to parking benefits provided by tax‐exempt organizations to their employees. Newly added Section 512(a)(7) of the Internal Revenue Code states, “Unrelated business taxable income of an organization shall be increased by any amount for which a deduction is not allowable…by reason of section 274 and which is paid or incurred by such organization for any…parking facility used in connection with qualified parking…The Secretary shall issue such…guidance as may be necessary…including regulations or other guidance providing for the appropriate allocation of depreciation and other costs with respect to facilities used for parking…” Tax practitioners who have evaluated Section 512(a)(7) generally believe that the result of this new provision is that tax‐exempt organizations that provide parking to their employees will be subject to unrelated business income tax on the cost of the parking provided. A nonprofit organization that simply allows its employees to park in a parking lot or garage that is part of the organization’s facilities will be subject to a tax on the cost of the parking provided. How the parking costs must be measured remains to be addressed in the “regulations or other guidance” to be issued by the IRS. To apply this new requirement, nonprofit employers and their accountants must have guidance addressing exceedingly complex questions of allocations of basis, depreciation, and rent payments among different structures and between employee and non‐employee users.

CANADIAN INTERNATIONAL CHARITIES BY COUNTRY OR REGION OF OPERATION AND WHY THIS INFORMATION MAY BE HELPFUL Why is it useful to have a list of Canadian charities organized by countries or regions by which they operate? 1. If you are interested in a particular country it is interesting to note which Canadian charities are operating there. 2. If you are interested in supporting a particular countries development efforts then you have a list of some the charities that are operating there. 3. If an individual, organization or charity is interested in conducting a project in a particular country they may wish to partner with one of the charities on the ground. I am approached frequently by people interested in setting up charities and I usually try to dissuade and encourage them to work with an established charity that has similar interest. 4. If you are a Canadian charity it can help – if new project in new country can speak to some of the Canadian charities that have already operated there. 5. Also if a foundation has a particular interest in a country they may be a potential source of funds for a charity. 6. Need for greater coordination between charities – greater efficiencies – donors expecting that organizations will work together and not compete for the sake of competition. This information may be useful to encourage cooperation. Limitations and Caveats This information on which countries Canadian charities are conducting projects comes from the 2004 T3010 Registered Charity Information Return and specifically Q. C5 “For programs the charity managed directly, outside of Canada, list the countries or regions where programs were carried on.
