The Alzheimer’s Society have produced three guides to help with ideas for the week. These can be downloaded from their website. For more information visit: Dementia Action Week 2019 7 Devonport Park Activity Centre 8 9 Friends & Families of Special Children Young Carers Fun & Freedom Club Young carers do lots to help someone in their family to get up, to get washed and dressed or to get around in wheelchair. Some do lots of the household chores like shopping, cleaning, cooking, and maybe look after younger brothers and sisters as well. Do you do some of these things? The Fun and Freedom Club can offer you: Lots of fun with weekend clubs, days out, trips away and activities A chance to make new friends in a similar situation to you Someone who will listen when you need it and who is on your side Information and advice for the whole family. Joining the club is FREE and all of the activities are subsidised. The club hold monthly meetings, allowing you time to meet other young carers, have some fun away from your caring role and to give you some support and help with any worries or problems that you have. Friends and Families also run fun Family Activity days for families with children with addi- tional needs, the whole family can enjoy state of the art facilities including hydro therapy pool, re- bound (trampoline) therapy, sensory and interactive rooms.     07-02-2020 For Students & Parents Thank you to all of our parents who have contributed to the curriculum consultation. This ended on 31st January. The vast majority of parents indicated that they were keen for their children to have four options in their KS4 curriculum and would like us to preserve the opportunity for students to make choices in Y8. Obviously, all core subjects will be studied in the regular way. As ever, it seems, we have an incredibly busy half term ahead for all of our students with Diary Dates a half term full of excitement and potential success for the college’s Venice Trip students. We are looking forward to the next fantastic installment of 2 November - 5 November the Creative Arts faculty live shows with ‘Twice Told Tales’ we have Year 11 our very own Sports Personality of The Year awards night and we will Parents/Carers Evening be hosting the years first house assemblies to see which house is 2 November @ 4:30 pm - 7:30 pm currently on top of the standings. On the house theme, the House captains from the 6th form leadership team will be Parent Voice running their house councils, with representatives from every year group in every house 7 November 6pm using their democratic voice to good affect giving the college ideas of how they can Remembrance Service improve for the future. Democratic voice is vital to the running of a Co-operative school 10 November @ 10.40am-11:30am and we are striving to improve how all of our constituent groups are using that voice to the best effect. Japanese Exchange Solidarity is another of the Co-operative values we show through our actions and 13 November - 24 November the upcoming remembrance service will see all year 9 and 13 students attending our Ski Trip Remembrance service at St Eustachius church on Friday the 10th November.

    Make Your Mark 2020 Devon Highlights Introduction This report details the results of the ‘Make Your Mark’ youth consultation held in 2020, focusing on the result locally in Devon and with reference to Regional & National Results. This work was led in Devon by Devon Youth Parliament, with support from the Participation Team in Children’s Services (Devon County Council). Summary ➢ 3667 young people took part across Devon. ➢ The top 3 National issues across the UK were; 1. Free University 2. Stop Plastic Pollution 3. Support Our Mental Health N.B These are not the same as the issues selected as the 2021 Campaigns ➢ Top 3 Local Issues across the UK were 1. Domestic Violence 2. Homelessness 3. Access to training & jobs ➢ Top 3 National issues across Devon 1. Support our Mental Health 2. Free University 3. Take Action on the Climate Emergency ➢ Top 3 Local Issues across Devon 1. Domestic Violence 2. Homelessness 3. Access to training & jobs ➢ Devon Youth Parliament will be; o Publicising these results o Campaigning on the top 3 National issues selected by Devon Young People o Working locally on the local issues identified as priorities. o Continue to represent the views of all young people across Devon. 1 | P a g e Background Like many things in 2020, Make Your Mark was different. Make Your Mark continues to be the largest youth led consultation in the UK which this year moved from being primarily paper based to an online vote, supported by UK Parliament. Make Your Mark invites young people aged 11-18 to vote for one of ten topics they consider the most important nationally as well as what issues are important locally.
