Jack Jackson is now the permanent chair of Nordab. The representative is to be confirmed. ACTION: BB to discuss with Jack Jackson of who will represent Nordab at future Advisory Group meetings. 2) Matters arising from ESB co-ordinator update All agreed that the first Advisory Group meeting was a success. BB confirmed that Petroc will seek to continue to find funding for the co-ordinator post. Nicky’s current contract expires 31st August 2019. DD confirmed that there will be changes, and expecting a different administration in charge, within both local authorities, after the local elections in May. There will then be an opportunity to promote the ESB to the new full council. BB discussed about the LEP work on Skills Advisory Panels and a view that ESB’s would be an integral part of the governance for Skills Advisory Panels. ACTION: BB will pursue this with the LEP. Other ESB’s in the area TS and MM had been trying to arrange a meeting with the Plymouth ESB, who are supported by their local council. BB had met with colleagues from Mid Devon Economic Development team and they are seeking to find out how we are operating, as there are getting no value or connectivity from their ESB which is the Greater Exeter.

    24th May 2016 Dear Parents/Carers, As we approach the half term break, I am pleased to be able to write to you to bring you up to date with all that has been happening at saltash.net since the start of the summer term. Exam season is, of course, well and truly upon us now, with years 10, 11 and 12 all taking some of their GCSE and A Level examinations before half term and Year 13 joining them from the start of June onwards. Although we hold ‘official last day’ events for both Years 11 and 13, all students sitting exams are still able to participate in and make the most of our extensive revision programme which will be running throughout the duration of the exams as well as over the half term holiday. We have all been so impressed with how our young people have approached their exams this summer, especially those students who have experienced major challenges and difficulties in their home or personal lives over the past year. We are full of admiration for them and also pleased that our school has such a strong pastoral support network in place to help guide and intervene when necessary. We wish all students sitting exams this year all the very best. As we regularly say to our students, academic success is very important but so too is how they are developing as well rounded individuals who appreciate and demonstrate the values at the heart of our school: Respect, Responsibility, Compassion, Honesty, Fairness and Perseverance. At the recent May Fair in Saltash, a number of members of our local community (including those who live close to our school) came up to tell me how impressed they were with the behaviour and conduct of our students – not just what they read about them in the local papers, but also when they see them around Saltash.

    3rd March 2017 STANDING OUT THE MAGAZINE FOR MOUNTS BAY ACADEMY Cover: Dry Ice 18th January 2019 PRINCIPAL’S REPORT Be empathetic and the world will be a better place because of you! Last year we launched our ‘MBA Way’ which everyone has embraced and which is now starting to show some amazing results. In conjunction with our High Performance Learning and commitment to Global Goals, they are now all embedded in our school life and providing the focus for our learning. “Empathy is seeing with the eyes of another, listening with the ears of another and feeling with the heart of another.” Alfred Adler This week in our Crew Meetings we have been looking at the way in which we celebrate our students excelling in their work or behaviour. They also gave their views on how they could be rewarded with a system to replace the Vivo system we have used in the past. After half term we will be introducing the MBA passport, a new way to record our excellent work and celebrate the success that this can bring. Students will be able to receive credits from staff and tutors that can be converted to points and exchanged in the school shop for prizes. My colleagues have also been working hard planning for our forthcoming Project Week and I am pleased to GLOBAL CHAMPION say that up to 30 students will be working with Miss Wheeler to reinstate our poly tunnel into the new community GrowSpace. In keeping with our policy to re-use and recycle as much as we can, we have appealed to the local community for any surplus compost, pots and tools which we will be using to grow food for a number of local groups including the Street Food Project Penzance.
