Important Opportunity for St. Mark Community

Dear Parishioners,

I want to alert our parents and grandparents about an important opportunity. While I was at the Priest Convocation, Mrs. Lisa Hansen spoke to all our priests describing how pornographers target our young people online. She described her own experience as a young teen of being manipulated into a very inappropriate and damaging relationship. You might recall that big tobacco built their sales around the manipulation of nicotine in cigarettes. The goal was to addict users to cigarette smoking. Pornographers have a similar approach that target young men especially but also ends up hurting young women. Mrs. Hansen also describes the way online predators manipulate young women. I recognize that more attention is being given to parents and grandparents in regard to these issues. I want to invite our parents and grandparents to this presentation. Clearly, these issues are affecting the good young people of our parish. I hope you can make the time to attend.

Yours in Christ, Fr. John Arnold
