Band: Grief Collector (USA) Genre: Heavy / Doom Metal Label: Petrichor Album Titel: En Delirium Spielzeit: 47:45 VÖ: 14.05.2021 Band: Grief Collector (USA) Genre: Heavy / Doom Metal Label: Petrichor Album Titel: En Delirium Spielzeit: 47:45 VÖ: 14.05.2021 Grief Collector aus Minnesota bescheren uns Mitte Mai 2021 ihren musikalischen Einstand. 02. Wintersick 03. Our Poisonous Ways Robert Lowes klare, leicht klagende, vibrato-orientierte Stimme ist markant 04. The Letting Go und bestechend. When Sanity Eludes Me durchaus passend eingefügt wurden. • ABSTRACT Genius, Heredity, and Family Dynamics. Samuel Taylor Coleridge and His Children: a Literary Biography Yolanda J. Gonz
ABSTRACT Genius, Heredity, and Family Dynamics. Samuel Taylor Coleridge and his Children: A Literary Biography Yolanda J. Gonzalez, Ph.D. Chairperson: Stephen Prickett, Ph.D. The children of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Hartley, Derwent, and Sara, have received limited scholarly attention, though all were important nineteenth century figures. Lack of scholarly attention on them can be blamed on their father, who has so overshadowed his children that their value has been relegated to what they can reveal about him, the literary genius. Scholars who have studied the children for these purposes all assume familial ties justify their basic premise, that Coleridge can be understood by examining the children he raised. But in this case, the assumption is false; Coleridge had little interaction with his children overall, and the task of raising them was left to their mother, Sara, her sister Edith, and Edith’s husband, Robert Southey. While studies of S. T. C.’s children that seek to provide information about him are fruitless, more productive scholarly work can be done examining the lives and contributions of Hartley, Derwent, and Sara to their age. This dissertation is a starting point for reinvestigating Coleridge’s children and analyzes their life and work. Taken out from under the shadow of Samuel Taylor Coleridge, we find that Hartley was not doomed to be a “child of romanticism” as a result of his father’s experimental approach to his education; rather, he chose this persona for himself. Conversely, Derwent is the black sheep of the family and consciously chooses not to undertake the family profession, writing poetry.

  • Solitude Aeturnus: Hour of Despair (DVD) Page 1 of 2
Sea of Tranquility - Solitude Aeturnus: Hour of Despair (DVD) Page 1 of 2 Solitude Aeturnus: Hour of Despair (DVD) The Texas doom metal legends Solitude Aeturnus appear on their first DVD concert Hour of Despair, filmed in Poland on their tour of the fine Alone album in February of 2007. Twelve songs covering much of their discography, this set shows what an underrated metal band Solitude Aeturnus is. Falling somewhere between Black Sabbath, Trouble, and Candlemass, the Texans deliver ominous metal littered with occult & religious overtones, massively heavy guitar dirges, flamboyant solos, and the incredible vocals of Robert Lowe. The sound quality of this DVD is quite superb, with all the players delivering some solid crunch that is mixed perfectly, and Lowe's vocals are simply soaring. The singer looks like the 'heavy metal preacher' in his long black robe, red scarf, and white collar, looming and lurching around the stage spewing out his powerful vocals. It's no surprise after seeing his magnificant performance here that he was chosen to be the new vocalist for Candlemass, as he now holds the distinction of being the singer for two of the worlds greatest doom bands. The band tears through plenty of solid material, including "Scent of Death", "Phantoms", "The 9th Day: Awakening", and "Destiny Falls to Ruin". There's a good amount of bonus features, including an interview with Lowe and longtime guitarist John Perez, and two short bootleg concert videos. The quality of both of these is pretty terrible, but it shows the band in its infant stage in 1987 (with their first singer) and when they were starting to really make a name for themselves in 1992.

Reviews : Albums : Solitude Aeturnus, "Beyond the Crimson Horizon [reissue]" Solitude Aeturnus Beyond the Crimson Horizon [reissue] Metal Mind Records 2007 BAND INFORMATION Official Website Official Email REVIEW LINKS Email the reviewer Email this review to a friend DISCUSS THIS REVIEW Solitude Aeturnus' second full length gets the deluxe digi-pack remaster treatment. Truth be told, the remastering comes across as little more than bumping up the levels, but the production on the original was solid. The guitars do have a bit more bite than they did on the original pressings and yet still maintain their grimy feel. The band is heralded for being flag-bearers of traditional doom metal and deservedly so - they rock the bowels of Hell with the best of 'em. The music is plodding, monolithic and - dare I say – epic. The wailing, high-pitched vocals of Robert Lowe deliver the emotional impact needed to create the proper desperate atmosphere. While much of the record sulks in the slower tempos, the band also displayed their old school power metal chops when they shifted into overdrive and added driving rhythms. Black Sabbath and Candlemass are the obvious points of reference, but the double-bass boom of early Metal Church also served as inspiration. The band added color via use of bright acoustic guitars and morose, church-organ keyboards. The noodly, melodic guitar solos are tastefully done and help build momentum for the tracks and occasional forays into whammy-bar diving adds proper tension. The recording features a muscular bottom end and I really enjoy all of the accents that drummer John Covington provided.

  • LEIF EDLING Songs of Torment, Songs of Joy (Dark / Gothic / Doom / Stoner)

Into the Depths of Sorrow, originally released in 1991, shows a young band still amalgamating its influences, specifically the dinosaur crunge of Black Sabbath (both the Ozzy and Dio eras), the prog-shaded power metal of Iron Maiden and the pioneering doom metal of Candlemass and Trouble. But the group's greatest assets—flashy guitar solos that avoid mindless wankery, a love of melody that keeps the songs engaging and Robert Lowe's emotional vocals—are already present, and if the latter aren’t quite as soaring as they would become, they're still more than enough to put the band hairy head-and-shoulders above its peers. The bonus tracks are three demos, one ("Transcending Sentinels") featuring original singer Kris Gabehart and two ("Opaque Divinity" and "Mirror of Sorrow," still one of Solitude's finest creations) that, as accurately noted in bandleader John Perez's notes, are stronger tracks than the official versions. 1992's Beyond the Crimson Horizon continues the quintet's development, with more uptempo songs, more powerful singing from Lowe and a sense of contained energy that wouldn't be unleashed until the band finally went on tour.

  • Band: Sorcerer (S) Genre: Epic Doom Metal Label: Metal Blade Records Album Titel: in the Shadow of the Inverted Cross Spielzeit: 54: 06 VÖ: 20.3.2015
