Electric Guitars (DK) Genre: Hard Rock Label: Target Records Albumtitle: Electric Guitars Duration: 55.28 Min Band: Electric Guitars (DK) Genre: Hard Rock Label: Target Records Albumtitle: Electric Guitars Duration: 55.28 Min. Releasedate: 26.05.2014 The name of the band already suggests it: The guitars are staying in the foreground! And which kind of genre would be better as the good old Hard Rock? The two guitarists Søren Andersen and Mika Vandborg, who are no beginners have written all the songs on the album on their own, which constitutes their debut. Søren played in Mike Tramp's old company White Lion and was also active in the Glenn Hughes band (vocals and bass by Deep Purple) over the past five years. Furthermore the band was chosen as supporting act for an actual Deep Purple concert in Copenhagen. Beyond that the two guitarists were active in countless Danish bands which shouldn’t be so well known over here. Also solo albums were released where people like Dave Mustaine (Megadeth), Marco Mendoza (Twisted Sister), Billy Sheehan (David Lee Roth, Mr. Big, G3) and Tommy Aldridge (Gary Moore, Ozzy Osbourne, MARS, Whitesnake) could be heard. Musically the band lies somewhere in the intersection between Rock'n'Roll and AOR. So the guys are not drifting so far away from their influences. The guys of the band and the producer made it that the sound of the album is sounding live loaded so that the energy of the company is well transported to the listener. Besides that the melodies are in the foreground and also the backing vocals becoming a relevant importance as it is typical for this genre. From time to time the songs are a little bit to icky ("So far away") and mainstream loaded ("Ronnie"). As a consequence the history is too predictable and the arcs of suspense couldn’t be hold up for so long. Mostly the band is as its best when it is getting heavier ("Easy way out") but also the melody dominating songs could be convince. The band invented something very special with "Hero of Mine". Within nearly ten minutes the band bows for the most influential guitarists from their home country. There you can hear ten of the best Danish guitarists with one solo of each of them. This concept is reminding a little bit to the Hear'n aid history from Dio in the 80’s. Conclusion: A little bit to tame album which has its moments but not coming on a constant high level. • “I Dig the Fact That Four Guys Can Grab the Same Fretless Bass and Sound
Furthermore, says Marco, different gigs demand different atti - tudes: “When I go into a quartet setup, I know there’s going to be a certain amount of freedom in the bass chair. But if it’s a quintet with keyboard and two guitars, my job is more about ““II ddiigg tthhee ffaacctt tthhaatt ffoouurr locking in with the drums and keeping the bottom heavy, groovy, gguuyyss ccaann ggrraabb tthhee ssaammee and fat.” ffrreettlleessss bbaassss aanndd ssoouunndd Mendoza says his favorite playing style is fingerstyle fretless. “For my money, fretless can be a little more expressive than ttoottaallllyy ddiiffffeerreenntt..”” fretted bass. I dig the fact that four guys can grab the same fretless bass and sound totally different, more so than with frets. I understand that certain genres of music need a fretted sound, but I like to think I excel a little more on the fretless.” Yet some of Mendoza’s best-known work was performed with a pick on four-string fretted bass. “On rock sessions, I end up playing with a pick 90-percent of the time, mainly because that’s what the guitar players want. Most rock guitarists have either worked with bass players who used a pick, or they’ve recorded a lot of the bass tracks themselves using a pick. They appreciate the attack of a pick—the clarity, the ping—especial - ly live. Ted Nugent was that way. So was the Thin Lizzy project. Given the opportunity, I’d rather play with my fingers, but I’ve learned to do both and jump between them.” “I guess I’m a chameleon of sorts,” muses session bassist Marco Mendoza.

I thought in light of this that this month's TALKBACK SECTON would take a look back at some other Rockers who checked out way too young. Let's take a trip down memory lane: 12/1/93 - Singer: Ray Gillian dies from Aids related complications. While he never appeared on record with Black Sabbath he was briefly a member of Black Sabbath's touring band when he briefly replaced legendary Singer: Glenn Hughes in the band. Following his gig with Sabbath Gillen briefly worked w/Ex Thin Lizzy/Whitesnake Guitarist: John Sykes in Blue Murder but eventually Gillen left Blue Murder and formed BadLands w/Ex Ozzy Osbourne/Ratt Guitarist: Jake E. Lee. Badlands released two albums before Gillen decided to leave because of friction that developed between Lee and Gillen. After Ray Gillen's death BADLANDS released a 3rd and final album called DUSK which was an album's worth of material of unreleased studio outakes.

  • OLIVER WEERS Get Ready (Hard Rock)

  • TDD BIO JULY 2018.Pdf
BIO - JULY 2018 “Rock’n’Roll like this is a rarity these days: dirty, passionate, full of anger and lust for life, without irony or distance.” - Rolling Stone, Germany Influenced by 70’s and early 80’s Rock, The Dead Daisies sound is soulful and accessible with equal parts of Aerosmith, Bad Company and Foreigner: muscular vocals, bluesy riffs, big choruses, powerful melodies and strong hooks. With stellar musicianship and pulverizing live shows, fans worldwide are discovering that rock is indeed alive and well. The current incarnation of The Dead Daisies features guitarist Doug Aldrich (Whitesnake, Dio), singer John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream), bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), drummer Deen Castronovo (Journey, Bad English, Hardline), and rhythm guitarist David Lowy (Red Phoenix, Mink). Since exploding onto the scene in 2013, The Dead Daisies have taken the rock music world by storm, releasing four studio and one live album to date whilst touring with some of the biggest names in Rock including: ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Judas Priest, KISS, Whitesnake, Def Leppard and the Hollywood Vampires as well as headlining shows around the world playing at prestigious rock festivals such as Download UK, Hellfest France, Graspop Belgium, Sweden Rock as well as the Wacken and Bang Your Head Festivals in Germany. The Dead Daisies love a challenge, they were the first American Rock Band back into Cuba after the embargo was lifted in 2015, toured South Korea with the USO and played a momentous, massive Concert for Peace in Poland with a 60-piece-Orchestra. In an era where Rock has been proclaimed dead time and time again, The Daisies defy the critics with ease.
