Ministry of Defence Govt. of India has provisionally selected the following schools for cultural items in Republic Day Parade 2020 at Rajpath, New Delhi. 1. SKV, B-Blockdanak Puri , Delhi. ID-1514019 2. Vinay Nagar Bengali, SSS, Sarojini Nagar, Delhi. ID-1719075 3. AGDAV Centenary Public School, Model Town, Delhi. ID-1309234 The school children of the above mentioned schools shall participate in the said function in prescribed costumes as approved by the Ministry of Defence and National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT). The procurement of requisite costumes etc. shall be made after observing all the codal formalities. For observing codal formalities related to procurement of Costumes, services related to Make-Up of performers, Choreographer, Artificial Jewellery, Recording of Songs etc. in r/o, all the above mentioned schools, the Directorate of Education has constituted a Purchase Committee comprising of the following officers:- 1. DDE of Concerned District Chairperson 2. AO of the Concerned District Member 3. SPE of the Concerned Zone Member 4. Principal/HOS of the concerned school Member Secretary The arrangement of Transportation, Refreshment and Drinking Water shall be made by the Sports Branch, DOE GNCTD. It has been further directed by the Ministry of Defence, if the item presented by the school does not continue to keep upto the level of performance, desired by the Expert committee, the item is liable to be dropped at any time. The costumes should be ready by the first combined rehearsal at Rajpath, which will be held on 14.01.2020 The dates of rehearsal at Rajpath are 4th,6th ,7th ,8th, 10th,11th, 13th ,17th ,18th ,20th, 21th January 2020 at 08.45 am daily. The full dress rehearsal will be held on 23rd January,2020 & final show on 26th January 2020. The reporting time of the full dress rehearsal and final show will be at 05.45 AM at Vijay Chowk (Starting Point of Parade). It may be ensured that the codal formalities are complied with, as prescribed in GFR and guidelines/instructions issued by the Finance Department and CVC from time to time.     Republic Day Camp 2021 The Rajpath Experience NC1 Anirudh S Bhaskaran Sacred Heart College Thevara 7(K) Naval Unit, EKM Group, K&L Directorate The Republic Day Parade, one of, if not the most iconic and colourful shows of Military Might and National Pride. As a young boy, every morning on the 26th of January, I was glued to the television at the break of day along with my family. While my parents had to leave for work, I remained watching Doordarshan, a channel, which I scowered for, on this day alone. Watching the parade on the Rajpath was a tradition for me. The name of “King’s Way”, as it was known, had been justified on this day, as the Men and Women of the Armed Forces of our Nation, marched down with pride, evident on their faces, and in every step. The colorful contingents marching in the foreground of the Indian Tricolour to the rhythm and beat of the Martial Bands were enough to give me a rush of adrenaline and goosebumps from excitement. Amongst all these marching contingents, towards the end, was unmistakably, the only contingent representing the Army, Navy and Air Force all at once. This, was the Rajpath Contingent of the National Cadet Corps. Unbeknownst to me at the time, was that one day, I would be an NCC Cadet, who would proudly bear the Rajpath Badge on my uniform. On the very day I enrolled myself in the National Cadet Corps’s Naval Wing, I was adamant on one thing, that must earn my way to the Republic Day Camp and march on the Rajpath during the Republic Day Parade.

    India Gate, Delhi India Gate - The Pride of New Delhi A magnificent archway standing at the crossroads of Rajpath- the India Gate is a war memorial dedicated to the 70000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in the First World War fighting on behalf of the allied forces. The erstwhile name of India gate is All India War Memorial. Architecture The India Gate was designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens, the English architect famous for planning a large part of New Delhi . His Royal Highness, the Duke of Connaught laid the foundation stone. Ten years later, Lord Irwin, the then Viceroy of India dedicated the India Gate to the nation. Lutyen was famous for combining classical architecture with traditional Indian elements. A remarkable instance of the classic arch of Lutyen's Delhi Order, the India Gate is a key symbol of New Delhi- the eighth city of Delhi. It bears a strong resemblance to the Arc de Triomphe in France. Though essentially a war memorial, the India Gate also borrows from the Mughal style of creating gateways. The India Gate stands on a base of red Bharatpur stone. The edifice itself is made of red sandstone and granite. An inverted interior dome appears on two square shaped trunks. Imperial signs are inscribed on the cornice. On both the sides of the arch is inscribed the word the word INDIA. The start and end dates of WWI appear on either side of the word. The columns are inscribed with the names of 13516 British and Indian soldiers who had died in the Northwestern Frontier in the Afghan war.
