2019 Schedule of Entertainment and Special Events at Clear Water Harbor, Waupaca 2019 Schedule of Entertainment and Special Events At Clear Water Harbor, Waupaca. WI Join us Saturdays with live bands playing from 9:30pm-1:30am and select Tuesdays and Wednesdays for our sunset show on the deck. Enjoy your favorite live entertainment on the raised stage and dance floor! Also, don’t miss the fun on Sunday afternoons with bands playing on our floating stage off the waterfront deck starting at 3:00pm.     Loading… The Journal of the Canadian Game Studies Association Vol 6(10): 71-90 http://loading.gamestudies.ca When I’m Sixty-Four: Beatles Rock Band and the Commodification of Nostalgia Jaigris Hodson York/Ryerson Universities [email protected] Abstract In 2009, only a few months after the game’s release, the popular trade magazine Advertising Age declared Beatles Rock Band (2009) one of America’s hottest brands ("America's hottest brands", 2009). This is quite a feat for a video game, and begs that we consider the reasons for the game’s success as well a the potential social consequences of this game as well as similar popular games. There are two major elements at work in the creation of Beatles Rock Band as a successful brand, and this paper conducts qualitative, participant-observation research in order to provide an analysis of the game that identifies both of them. First, the paper explores the Beatles as a brand that continues to provide emotional and spiritual value for consumers, and how the feelings associated with this brand have developed intertextually since the band first gained international popularity in 1962. Second, this paper will show how Beatles Rock Band can be viewed as a documentary game, and how, in portraying history, it also rewrites it in order to capitalize on a romanticized ideal of 1960s culture. This paper will show the ways that Beatles Rock Band draws on previous commercial texts associated with the Beatles brand to create a hyperreal fiction based on historic people and events. These texts help to connect people in fan communities that serve the commercial purposes of the game marketers.

Examining concert programs and critical reviews, this paper will briefly survey U.S. concert life at three distinct moments: in the 1840s, when a conflict arose between virtuoso performance and an emerging classical canon; in the 1910s through 1930s, when early jazz concerts referenced the past to highlight the music’s progress over time; and in the late twentieth century, when rock festivals sought to reclaim a sense of liveness in an increasingly mediatized cultural landscape. keywords: concerts, canons, jazz, rock, virtuosity, history. 1 During the nineteenth century, a conflict arose regarding whether concert repertories should dwell more on the presentation of works from the past, or should concentrate on works of a more contemporary character. The notion that works of the past rather than the present should be the focus of concert life gained hold only gradually over the course of the nineteenth century; as it did, concerts in Europe and the U.S. assumed a more curatorial function, acting almost as a living museum of musical artifacts. While this emphasis on the musical past took hold most sharply in the sphere of “high” or classical music, it has become increasingly common in the popular sphere as well, although whether it fulfills the same function in each realm of musical life remains an open question.

    Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-819 PDF version Ottawa, 5 November 2010 Revised content categories and subcategories for radio This regulatory policy revises the list of content categories and subcategories for radio by adding a new subcategory 36 (Experimental Music), as announced in Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499 which sets out the new policy for campus and community radio. This regulatory policy will take effect only when the Radio Regulations, 1986 are amended to make reference to it. 1. In Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499, which sets out the new policy for campus and community radio, the Commission announced its intention to revise the content categories and subcategories for radio by adding a new subcategory 36 (Experimental Music). The Commission indicated that, in interpreting the new definition of Experimental Music, it would rely on the definitions of musique actuelle, electro acoustic and sound ecology set out in the appendix to Broadcasting Notice of Consultation 2009- 418, as well as the Turntablism and Audio Art Study 2009, which was prepared to assist parties in preparing their comments for the review of campus and community radio. The Commission also provided clarification as to how it would measure the Canadian content of musical selections falling into this new subcategory at paragraphs 77 and 78 of Broadcasting Regulatory Policy 2010-499. 2. In order to implement this determination, the content categories and subcategories contained in the appendix to this regulatory policy, including the new definition of Experimental Music, will replace the content categories set out in the appendix to Public Notice 2000-14. The Commission will propose amendments to the Radio Regulations, 1986 for the purpose of removing all references to the appendix to Public Notice 2000-14 and replacing them with references to the appendix to this regulatory policy.

Der Hauptteil besteht aus zwei Kapiteln. Kapitel 2 gibt eine Einf¨uhrung in berechenbare Modelle von Musik¨ahnlich- keit. Zudem wird die Optimierung der Kombination verschiedener Ans¨atze beschrieben und die gr¨oßte bisher publizierte Evaluierung von Musik¨ahnlich- keitsmassen pr¨asentiert. Die beste Kombination schneidet in den meisten Evaluierungskategorien signifikant besser ab als die Ausgangsmethode. Beson- dere Vorkehrungen wurden getroffen um Overfitting zu vermeiden. Um eine Gegenprobe zu den Ergebnissen der Genreklassifikation-basierten Evaluierung zu machen, wurde ein H¨ortest durchgef¨uhrt.Die Ergebnisse vom Test best¨a- tigen, dass Genre-basierte Evaluierungen angemessen sind um effizient große Parameterr¨aume zu evaluieren. Kapitel 2 endet mit Empfehlungen bez¨uglich der Verwendung von Ahnlichkeitsmaßen.¨ Kapitel 3 beschreibt drei Anwendungen von solchen Ahnlichkeitsmassen.¨ Die erste Anwendung demonstriert wie Musiksammlungen organisiert and visualisiert werden k¨onnen,so dass die Anwender den Ahnlichkeitsaspekt,¨ der sie interessiert, kontrollieren k¨onnen.
